best way to be there for someone after a breakup?

i have a friend whos boyfriend just broke up with her. what would the best way to "comfort" her without coming on too strong.

i've already done the basics "i'm so sorry.." "he was a dick for doing it"

thanks

If you are a girl I'd say have a girls night out. Invite some other female friends to go out with you two. Don't invite any guys along or plan on meeting up with any.

If you are a guy, all you can really do is be there for her if she wants to talk or hang out with her.

If your a guy have sex with her, catch her on the rebound...

There isn't much I can really add that the other comments haven't already provided. Just try to be a friend, listen and be a friend. I would recommend getting them to watch a movie where a break-up was for the best, where everything ended all hunky dorey. This way they have something relate to, or you could tell them a story from your own experience (if you have any).

How about this, lots of brownies and ice cream and watch Better Off Dead.

I'd just say, if you are not interested in her, than just be a friend. If she wants to talk be there for her, if she doesn't, don't push it.
