What causes people to have fetishes?
 

Hey there,
I was wondering what causes ppl to have fetishes. Is it caused from something that happened to the person when s/he was a child? Is the person born with it? Is it genetic? What causes these :crazy:nutjobs:crazy: to get them? Just curious.

You seem to be talking about fetishes as if they are a disease that is "caught", it is simply an act, image etc. that turns an individual on more than "other" activities. There is nothing wrong with being turned on!

Personally I feel that fetishes are discovered, how can you realise that you are turned on by something until you are aware of it?

i don't know where my particular fetishes come from aside from the general "my screwed up brain".. i'm a dom most of the time and i propagate this because i like the feeling of ownership over another.. i'd assume i like it because of certain chemical combinations in the physical mind released by certain triggers.. though i'm not an expert on the subject and actually dislike psychology as a subject.. so i guess what i'm trying to say is..

I dont know if I was "born" with it....but I've been into that as long as I can remember...looking back...probably even before I "knew" what it was exactly.

I believe that fetishes tend to be destined by childhood experiences. Alot of fetishes can be linked with comfort or security, factors that we relied on heavily as young kids.
Its mostly about association and triggers.

The first time I realized that girls might also think about and enjoy sex as much as me I was 14. A friend and I were telling two girls about how we go right to the edge and stop when we masturbate. The girls let us know that they thought this was hot, and that they were horny from thinking about it. They insinuated that they planned to go home and masturbate. I was surprised. Sometime later I went to my first porn movie at a drive-in theater. It showed two young girls on a bed masturbating together.

I love to see or fantasize about young girls masturbating. Is that a fetish? I'm not sure, but I think it all started with the experiences I had as a teenager.

what you said is exactly what i read in my sexuality class in school...but I dunno if that is true. For example they say that men that have a fetish for women in stockings most likely experienced wearing stocking as a kid or when hugging their mother around her legs they liked the feeling of the stockings.

but in my opinon peoples likes tastes etc usually change as they grow i don't know how some certain "likes" can be carried from childhood

Yeah, I dunno. I don't think I have "fetishes" per se, but a lot of the things I find sexy were things I didn't see in my family of origin.
