What Men Shave Their Legs Here? And how do the Ladies like it?

Well I shave mine at least twice a week. Because my girl likes them like that. A lot of my friends do it too. Im wondering how many other men do it too? And ladies how do you like your mens legs?

(P.S. Please dont say what you shave other then legs, this is a legs topic not pubic / facial hair)

Ustwo 10-23-2004 09:53 PM

There are not enough hours in the day to shave my legs.

bermuDa 10-23-2004 10:06 PM

i shave everything, and when i say everything, i mean nothing.

really, I'm just lazy.

lol @ the second paragraph.

So what techniques do you use to shave your legs?

I've seen countless commercials on various techniques, but none seem to prevail over others. :-/

guthmund 10-23-2004 11:27 PM

Once.

While in highschool I wanted to date this girl who appreciated the fact that I was "smooth." I had very little chest hair, (who am I kidding...no chest hair) and facial hair is hard to come by.

We dated for a while. I decided to shave everything from the neck down. I mean everything. When the big night came and we started fooling around she got a little freaked out when she found out I was completely hairless. A few days after that, she called to break up with me. Turns out she was more than a little freaked about and I couldn't seem to get her to believe that it was a one time thing. I mentioned it was mostly for her benefit and that seemed to freak her out more.

Thank god, graduation was a few months away. I have no friends left from high school, but I do have a senior yearbook that was signed by most of my classmates. More than a few wish the "hairless hamster" good luck and hope to see the "Mexican hairless" soon.

Kalibah 10-23-2004 11:35 PM

I know some cyclists that do

Road Rash takes like 10x longer to heal when you have hair in the wound
In fact thats the cause of 90% of the damage- all the hairs getting ripped out
mah hair

But meh I'll keep mine

The wounds are just badges of honor - I have a pretty nasty scar on my leg from the last one

Not nasty just big heh

Prince 10-24-2004 12:04 AM

Ugh, not for me. Why bother?

curious george 10-24-2004 12:39 AM

Heehee. Long time cyclist here who shave legs for about 10 years since about 15 years old.
Most of the girls were fasinated by it - they thought it was pretty sexy. If I wasn't such a wuss, I couldda used it to my advantage.......
The guys freaked - I was gay, a fag... you know the stuff, it was just too different.
It wasn't untill they realised the chicks loved it they stopped, then asked me how to do it!!!1!!
I think most people saw it as a curiosity, sort of like having two heads or something. meh :-/
I think being pretty fit and a cyclist gave an impression that it was 'OK' to shave your legs, but my dad could never bring himself to do it.
*IMPORTANT TIP!!*
Never dry shave. You might as well use a potato peeler. Waxing hurts like a muther****er.
1st timers, use plenty of soap or whatever stuff you use on your face, and really consider using hair trimmers first, cos your razor will clog up pretty quick.

And people, MOSITURISE, OK!
Nobody likes dry flakey legs.

*Ahem*
Goes back to doing blokey things, like drinking beer, watching the Rugby etc...

SirSeymour 10-24-2004 04:07 AM

I did several times for my wife but the trouble of doing it was more than the payoff for her. I am not a bath person, I live and die by the shower, and it is tough to do it right if you are not taking a bath, at least for me. Maybe my skin was just too sensitive to shave without soaking, I guess. *shrug* She thanked me for the effort and told me to stop.

boredom 10-24-2004 12:49 PM

im naturaly hairless in certain places, well not hairless but barely growing any(im 18). So my legs and my arms barely have any hair

pocon1 10-24-2004 03:24 PM

I have, when I was all lean and muscley. if I ever drop a significant amount of bodyweight again so I look more like a bodybuilder. then I will.

runtuff 10-24-2004 04:14 PM

Shave, hair or my legs???? Why??? Isn't it supposed to be there?? I'm a guy and I'm supposed to have hairy legs right???

blar 10-24-2004 04:38 PM

nope i don't but then again i really don't have hairy legs

JaySpencer 10-24-2004 04:40 PM

I like to trim it down, shorten it even, but I don't shave. My hat's off to the lovely ladies that do shave though! I had to shave a few times around my knees because of a need to wear knee supports for a time
, and between the razor burns and small scrapes I was misrable!!

greyeyes 10-24-2004 04:48 PM

I've been considering shaving my legs but I have always been afraid of the bushyness when the hair grows back (is it true that when you shave and then stop the hair factor is just scary?). Also I have blonde leg hair and I definately dont want to shave and find that it has changed to black! If someone can quell my fears I might try it, I think it would make intimate relations crazy good.

ninety09 10-24-2004 05:17 PM

I asked my girlfriend if she would like me to shave my legs and she answered "No fucking way", so I don't think I'll do it anytime soon. Besides, it takes too long and the hair grows back too quickly. Not worth it.

macsmith230 10-24-2004 05:39 PM

I trim mine every 4-5 months or so. I've got pretty hairy legs so it's nice to tame it somewhat, especially in the summer when I'm wearing shorts. Not that anybody makes remarks about it, more to keep cool.

sailor 10-24-2004 05:58 PM

Another cyclist here checking in with bare legs. Dont know about the ladies, havent actually been dating anyone since I started shaving them. I do know I get lots of shit from my fraternity brothers when I break out the razor in the shower, though ;)

Memalvada 10-24-2004 06:49 PM

I've shaved them a couple of times, but it was because I used to be a swimmer...
They felt nice to the touch just after they had been shaved LOL
My friends all made fun of me (but I was cool with it)
And my ex, didnt make much of a fuss, since she was a swimmer as well, and well, she had an open mind about it, so it was all cool for me :)

I dont know if I'd ever do it again though, now that Ive stopped swimming, except if my s.o. especifically asked me to.

First, greyeyes, you don't need to fear any of that. My hair is just as pale and see through as before I shaved, and it never got any bushier. A lot of the "bushier" myth is that hair feels rougher when it first grows back in since the ends are sharper; they haven't been worn smooth by clothes/sheets/soap/etc.

I used to shave my hair in high school (bike riding), but stopped because I had to shave every morning if I didn't want 5 o'clock shadow, which hurts when my legs rubbed together, and I wanted to shave every night so my legs wouldn't tear each other up in bed at night. Now I just trim them up about every time I get my haircut with a hair trimmer. Most of the benefits with none of the unfortunate side effects.

Chuckles 10-25-2004 10:35 AM

I'll shave them twice a year for the big swim meets. Man does it feel cool entering the water with no hair on arms, legs, face, chest, back haha.

nomorensx 10-25-2004 11:39 AM

I tried shaving my legs once when I was more muscular and cut. What a pain the ass when it grew back. It was pretty cool when it was a fresh shave, but the grow-out stuble convonced me to never do it again.

deadhero 10-25-2004 03:37 PM

I've tried it a few times but I don't shave regularly. My legs aren't extremely hairy so they look good unshaved.

MSD 10-25-2004 08:42 PM

I'm too lazy and my skin is too sensetive. Maybe if I had someone to appreciate it, I would, but for now, I'm sticking with my pattern of shaving my face every 3 weeks.

Wax_off 10-27-2004 12:28 AM

My ex taught me to shave. As a long time cyclist she liked it and I did too. She told a great story about a guy who came to join the cycling club at her school. He said something to the effect of "guys who shave their legs are pussies!" So this 200 pund guy steps up from the back and says "Oh Yeah?" New guy apparently shut up and started shaving...

My current isn't as big a fan of the bare look. She likes my legs hairy, which is really only in the winter when I'm not riding much.

I play football so i have to remove them... Meditteranean countries often have excess hair on body you know...
I am not shaving them down... I ahve someone else to do them with wax or something... Shaving is making the hair grow real fast...

MSD 10-27-2004 08:04 AM

Now that I think about it some more, I think I could deal with waxing, or maybe being dipped neck-down into a vat of Nair. Just no shaving.

oblar 10-27-2004 08:38 PM

MrSelfDestruct: Be careful with the Nair in sensitive spots ;)

a friend of mine decided to Nair his ass, mainly to say he Naired his ass.. Turns out he ended up having some medical nastiness occur down there from the Nair.. Took him quite a while to get everything back to normal :)

SparklingDot 10-27-2004 10:19 PM

I'm explaining to a male friend of mine how to go about shaving his legs for Halloween... He doesn't understand why he should moisturize...

Personally, I've never had an SO with shaved legs. Could be interesting. I'd be willing to try it if he would.

Nair is bad. Just don't do it. Shaving, if you must, is easier, cheaper and in the end, more comfortable.

hehe was that intentionally a pun off of the previous post? *grin*

Bustello 10-28-2004 09:30 PM

Some women like hairy legs but others like shaved legs. It is impossible to find two women that like the same type of guy... :icare:

little_tippler 10-29-2004 04:16 AM

this is funny. I'm a girl and it's quite amusing to hear boys talking about this...waxing is a million times better for removal of hair anywhere on your body. Hurts? Well boohoo, it's not that bad at all. And I just can't feel sorry for you boys complaining about the stubbly growth a few days after shaving... girls have to do all this stuff for pretty much their entire lives and most men don't even realize the pain in the ass it can be to do it day in day out...and expect their women to be smooth and hairless at anytime of any day...have to laugh

portereight 10-29-2004 05:57 AM

I used to be a competitive road racing cyclist. I shaved my legs regularly for many years. When I stopped racing, I stopped shaving.

A postscript;
I knew several competitive swimmers in university. They would not only shave everything, they would get together as a team before a meet for a drunken "shave down" party. They would shave each other. How's that for male bonding?

Paradise Lost 10-29-2004 07:40 AM

Even though I'm an avid cyclist, I will not shave my manly-ultra-hairly legs, besides, I need
something to fiddle with when I cross my legs with shorts on...

Averett 10-29-2004 07:46 AM

Not my thing... guys are supposed to have hair on their legs! But I can understand guys who would shave. Aerodynamics, easier to tape ankles. I wouldn't not date a guy cause he had shaved legs, but it wouldn't turn me on either.

ibis 10-29-2004 01:49 PM

I did it once or twice in High/middleschool. It felt very, very wierd. That was way before I was sexualy active and had never felt bare legs together!

The hair on my calfs grows oddly. I think this is because they are large and rub up against jeans more than other parts of my leg. The result is hairy legs except on the calf.

Because of this, I usually attack mine with a 1/2 inch clipper. Doing so also helps when I tape my ankles (damn weak ankles...).

Bigeffinal 10-29-2004 10:19 PM

nope ive never shaved my legs... i think it might be due to the fact that im too lazy.

Brad1989 09-17-2010 08:15 AM

I'm a bodybuilder and wax my entire body.
