What is your smell good weapon of choice?
So what do you use to get attention from that special someone(or someones...) and how do you use it?
Day to day... Bathe with tropical zest Axe Tsunami body spray. Date night or out on the town... Bathe with the girly oil of Oly soap...(yeah it's fruity but it smells good makes your skin softer and girls like the smell of it) no body spray but a few strategic placements of Tommy Freedom. Tactics for useage... Day to day...a quick burst of body spray on my t-shirt(I usually wear a white tee under a buttondown or polo) and that's it. Just enough of a scent so that anybody within "personal distance" like a foot or two wil get enough of a wiff to catch the pleasentness of the body spray but without it being overpowering. I found that if you spray it on the cotton t-shirt it will hold the scent longer throughout the day and it won't evaporate like you will have it on the outside shirt and it won't mingle with body scent if you happen to get hot during the day. Sweat and body spray = nasty. Date night or out on the town... A small burst on either side of the neck a strategic burst on the mid section(again on the clothes as the scent will transfer better from clothes to other places than if it's on the skin...reason for this given in a moment). Basically any place at the height that the nose of a female might cross. So the neck is for if any nuzzling goes on...the chest is for that close dance or hug she'll catch a perfect whiff of your scent. Again it's not enough for it to make anybody sick from smelling you but in places where it'll do the most good. Now the trick I picked up from my friend...if you will be out someplace where it might be cold...bring a jacket..but spray your jacket with a couple of bursts of your cologne. So that way if she says she's cold you can loan her your coat..."forget" it and that night if she likes you she will have a reminder of you that hits most of the major senses. Sight, feel, and smell. This trick works like a charm. |

lol I can't take strong perfume, but if a girl smells good when you get close with her it's great.
Personally I try to smell "fresh" like when you do when you get out of the shower. Not very much smell but it's there.

Too much can be a bad thing
Sounds like Lockjaw has a good method, but depending on the cologne, it might be too much. Personally, I like it when I get just a faint smell of a guy. That clean, shower smell. As far as cologne, I've discovered that I really, really love Swiss Army.

I can't stand any smells on a guy and those wearing cologne, etc., are immediately on my "no" list.
Not trying to be a jerk, it's just that I feel so strongly about this that I wanted to put my point of view out there. Last edited by Squishor; 10-12-2004 at 01:25 PM.. |

I don't bathe in it and I've done a lot of experimenting on how to wear it so it's subtle and not overpowering. I also have a very low tolerance for fragrances(if I get within 10 feet of a perfume counter I get dizzy) but I do like to smell nice and frankly soap and fresh bathed wears off a lot quicker than a little subtle spritz. Most people can't tell I'm wearing anything until they get close to me and frankly that's when it matters the most.

I use a fresh-smelling generic bodywash, gillette cool wave aftershave under the neck, and Bath & Body Works men's cool spring face conditioner on my shaved head. I don't bathe in any of them, they can only be smelled in my personal space, and is meant for the gf.

Cucumber/Melon Bodywash, Apricot Shampoo, followed by a light dose of Axe. Either Tsunamai or Phoenix depending on how I feel.

I use dove soap, and herbal essence shampoo mixed with some european brand i forget the name of. Jergens moisture lotion, it's not really scented, but there's that soft lotion smell that's great mixed with above.
If i'm going to work, i'll dab on some 'Shi' by alfred sung, normally on my wrists, and behind my earlobes. If i'm going out I'll wear Exotic from body shop, it's not really heavy but the smell makes me feel euphoric. Sometimes i'll mix it with a bit of original vanilla from body shop. If I'm going clubbing, i'll wear Connexion by Lancome. Delish, makes a statement, but not an 'in your face i'm going to drown you in my smelll' kind of statement.

i think any smell i have probably comes from the massive amounts of pomade i put in my hair every morning trying to maintain some semblance of control |

I was just going to comment on the fact that it seems all the guys have taken to Axe... Is it that great, or is it good marketing?
Edited because I forgot to add my opinion... My wife doesn't like the smells as much, but I used to get a rise out of previous g/f's from old school favorites like Eternity and Drakkar. And, at the risk of showing my age, my HS g/f wore Exclamation ... and grrrrrrrrr... it was GOOD... :-) Last edited by imkeen; 10-12-2004 at 09:39 PM.. |

oooh i use aveeno body wash. oh so nice. smells like oatmeal/vanilla goodness.
shampoo and conditioner is suave juicy green apple because i love the smell of green apples. perfumes include: aqua de gio, clinique happy, and diesel the armani one is "my smell" and the other ones are occasional. i like happy for summer/spring and diesel for fall/winter. i used to like axe body spray until it got overly popular and i could smell it on like every dude i'd pass on the street. there are these crazy fancy ones made on some ancient franciscan island in europe that have been made for hundreds of years naturally that ive wanted to get my hands on for a long time. i have yet to smell them but from their story and description, they sound like they would be divine. but money and availability are both short |

For me, its Moonlight Path body spray for every day wear. That's it, a few strategically placed spritzes on the clothes (and hair). All the guys love it, and no one else I know wears it. It smells like baby powder and a little bit extra. The guys say "its how a girl should smell."
On a guy, I love Old Spice or Intrigue. But I heard that Intrigue was discontinued...sadness.

I didn't really pay attention to the tv or magazine ads all that much but like 6 months ago I was doing my shopping and I was getting my soaps and what not. Walked past this display of Axe and was like hmmm...dude Body spray huh? Sniffed a few of them...sniffed the Tsunami and was like...damn that smells good...and have been buying it ever since. And have been getting compliments ever since...it's really what guys needed. You might want to smell good but putting on a bunch of cologne isn't an option because it's too strong. A lil spritz and it's good to go. Go check the Axe out man and just use a little...your wife probably won't complain. |

Shower, shave, aftershave, deoderant/anti-perspirant, brush teeth. Doesn't matter if I'm just going over to my girl's house or having dinner with the president. Any more is too much IMO.

-Generic bodywash (gonna try that Old Spice body wash, we'll see how good it is and whether the smell is overpowering... and whether it dries out my skin)
-Tea Tree shampoo (works much much better than typical dandruff shampoos and smells minty eucalyptus fresh to boot!) -Axe Tsunami deodorant (others are too strong IMO... Tsunami has a nice smooth scent) -Typically a spray of Drakkar Noir (yeah yeah, quintessential cheesy cologne, but I've loved it for years and other stuff is typically too sweet-smelling for me.) A single spray is more than enough for a subtle scent that is only noticeable within the "personal space radius..." I don't spray all the time, typically once a day in the morning. Sometimes I'll change it up and spray some Cool Water or Givenchy Pi. The jacket or sweatshirt/hoodie trick is very familiar to me... I used to let my close female friend wear my hoodie or jacket at football games in high school, she loved how it smelled like me. A spray or two is WAY PLENTY... if a girl is wearing an article of your clothing they will have no choice but to smell your scent, as women seem to have much more acute senses of smell when it comes to male scents.

Dove body soap, some shampoo my wife bought for me from france with dashes over half the letters (I see irony in getting good smelling stuff from the same counrty that gave us Peppe le Pew), Neutrogena face wash, Neutrogena aftershave, SpeedStick, and Safari by Ralph Lauren (very very little, just so people can barely smell it if their nose is on my shirt).
I think the best thing is a persons smell-good arsonal would be good toothpaste. Nothing in the world is worse than bad breath. |

I think most of my efforts are in vain, since I have a cigarette in the morning sometimes, but even so, I...
- soap (Lux or something) - Herbal Essences shampoo (smells so good) - SpeedStick - A tiny spray of Acqua di Gio if it's a special occasion I bought the Acqua di Gio because of the recommendations I've seen from this board and other places around the net. Everyone swears by it, and I've joined the crowd. It smells fantastic. Most days it just sits idle, but if it's a special occasion then I'll use it and usually ge complimented. |

My routine is always the same, and the ladies seem to love it. I always get complements on how I smell.
Burt Bee's all the way... Bay Rum Soap Herbal Deodorant Bay Rum Cologne Bay Rum Aftershave Balm The combination gives off a warm earthy, spicy scent that is quite different from other products out there. I really don't like most other colognes and perfumes. They always seem to be too checmically smelling to me. If you have never tried the Burt Bee's line of products, then I highly recommend them. 100% Natural. All recyclable packaging.
