Depo Prevera? (spelling?)
Well I just had a question, maybe a problem I dunno, here goes:
My girlfriend is on the shot, I think its called Depo Prevera, unless theres another that I'm not aware of, I was wondering if anyone knows what the effectiveness of the shot is, because until I got with her, I had never had sex w/ a condom, and um whoa..... no nut for me :| so....... shot + effectiveness/reliability = ? |
It is 99.9% effective.
And it's Depo Provera. |
I do trust ya petite, but i need to trust in the drug itself, any link about it? i'll check the web again and see if i can find anything =)

Just keep in mind that the shot can have an effect on some women's libido(among other things), so if she becomes a lot less interested in sex, it's probably the shot.
|
It's highly effective, but the side effects are a BITCH.
I've been with two women who were on it and both dropped it after about a year. It killed their sex drives (both went back up when they stopped using it). I'd seriously recommend a different method. |
I was with a girl for about 2 years, and she was on Depo the entire time. I know because I went with her to get them, and saw the giant bruises from after the shots.
During the two years we were sexually active she had 2 miscarriages, both early term, but obviously happened. I'm not sure if women's bodies are different and it doesn't work as well on them, or if I have super sperm, hehe, but 2 in 2 years was a bit much for me. |
Woah! Miscarriges? I've never heard anything like that. Can you tell what happened?
|
my girlfriend has been on it for 2 years now. the first six months really sucked because she just bled nonstop. now it's all good. there really hasn't been any sex drive side effects or anything.
|
The pill would probably be better.. Depo has side effects.. you just heard 2 of them.

Trust me, you really don't want to have to comfort someone who's just had a miscarriage. It's really rough emotionally and not something I would ever choose to do.
|
While I have no experience with it, Irish, logically I doubt that she would get as attached to a (for example) miscarriage after two weeks than nine months.
|
Depo is just about the most reliable form of hormonal birth control there is, largely because of there is far less room for human error. I mean, how hard is it to remember to get a shot ONCE every THREE months?? It's so much easier to forget to take a pill every day.
BUT, the side effects are definitely a bitch. I stopped taking it a while ago and will NEVER even CONSIDER getting on it EVER AGAIN. Also, Depo alone doesn't prevent STD's in any way. You need a condom for that, each and every time. Have you discussed your sexual histories? Had STD tests? You never know, zxello... please be careful. |
FOr some reason I found there is little logic contained in a rather hormonal woman who just miscarried at 3 months leaving an obvious baby behind.
