Does anyone know how exactly this test was derived? It seems to be based entirely on well-accepted stereotypes. I'm just curious if it has any supposed scientific basis.

-3.....about right for me. I grew up as a tom-boy and didn't really show many "feminine" traits until I reached college. It still makes me uncomfortable in certain situations because I'm not sure how to act.

I scored a 35.
The descriptors seem a little arbitrary, but do reflect cultural preconceptions. (Mostly by re-enforcing stereo-types, so not what i would call useful, in anything more than an entertaining sorta way.)
I also have to wonder what it says about a test that earning a negative score means you are femine. Is that some kinda slam on women? or am i reading too much into it?

There are no scientifically validated gender tests. I looked for the page on TSRoadmap that talked about this, but basically they're just made up based on the author's perception of gender stereotypes and gender roles.

The main problem with them, besides gender stereotyping, is that there is a strong incentive to shape responses to provide a specific result.

The desire, conscious or unconscious, to shape the results to match your preconcieved perceptiion of yourself. It's a flaw inherent in all self-inventory tests--they tend to promote competetiveness and thus distort results.
