How sensitive are you?
I was in the shower today and right when i turned the water up and it was still cold, i noticed that i don't really feel anything much against the tip of my penis other than just pressure... Someone in another thread mentioned that he thought that he was becoming less sensitive in that area and it got me wondering...
I was not circumcised at birth, but i got it done when i was around 12... i'm obviously less sensitive than right when i got it (i remember i couldn't wear pants for a month) but am i less sensitive than is usual?

Supposedly the tip of the penis is supposed to be really sensitive on the underside of the head, I don't know if the nerves in the penis are designed to really pick up on anything other than heat and pressure, because those are the sensations involved in sex. Whenever I get in a cold shower I am usually concetrating more on the fact that I am freezing than how my penis feels, but I would imagine that it just feels desensitized because your concentrating on sensations that the penis was not meant to be a detector for. I wouldn't worry unless the desensitized feeling starts happening during sex.

You know, I've wondered the same thing before. The only place on my head that really feels good to be touched is the bottom side.
I'm not sure how it's supposed to feel, but I can honestly say this, if I ever have a son I will not let them circumsize him.... It seems to me to be a barbaric practice. I've often wondered how different sex would be if I was uncut...

As far as I can figure out from what I know, being uncut during sex would make little to no difference in how it feels since the fore skin is pulled back during sex, the head is still exposed, you'd just have more skin on the shaft.
I had my bris done a couple of weeks after birth so I don't actually know what it would feel like being uncut, but I do prefer the 'cut' look and it does make hygene a lot easier since I don't have to worry about cleaning under the foreskin.

MageB. there is a difference because when the soft skin of the head of your penis suffers from friction against your underwear (gee that sounds silly) it eventually gets less sensitive... the foreskin is protective.
I generally enjoy being circumcised because i find it cleaner, etc. I was having some problems that i didn't really enjoy, so i finally got it done (i remember my parents were bugging me to do it for years.. lol) Anyway, though, i'm not really talking about the loss of sensitivity due to just circumcision, i'm thinking more like extra loss due to excess whacking

Sorry for the thread jacking, but I feel I have to respond to the foreskin debate here. OK:
Yes, there would be a difference in sensitivity, how could there not be? If you're uncircumcised the head of the penis ONLY is exposed during sex. The rest of the time it's not rubbing up against fabric all day. Use your common sense on this one. When it isn't being touched by anything for days at a time and then it is only exposed to be inserted into a woman of course it's going to be a lot more sensitive. No, there is no reason to circumcise someone because of hygiene. Listen, if you don't clean your penis once a day regardless of weather you are cut or not then you already have some serious hygiene issues that you need to deal with. It's not harder to clean an uncut penis, and all penises (and people) should be cleaned once a day. |

Terminal Frost, are you cut? if so, when did you get circumcised?
unless you can actually speak from both sides of the table like myself and several other people who got circumcised when they were already in puberty, then kindly keep your unknowledgeable opinions to yourself. I know from my own experiences and several experiences of others that you CAN have hygenic issues even if you take good care of yourself. Other than that, thank you for spelling it out for those who did not get the point already about the difference.

My reason for getting cut was a case of moderate phimosis, when the foreskin cannot be retracted without causing pain. I told my doc that I did not want to have it get stuck, so my date with the table was set. My surgery was not cosmetic nor hygenic, it was done with the intention to prevent damage to the glans, which happens commonly with some cases of phimosis.
Looking back over three years now, I do miss the extra fun while whacking, due to the special nerve endings in the foreskin, but did I want the extra pleasure to be a time bomb, waiting to go off? ManWithAPlan, I went pro in masturbation last year, , and I think that you cannot lose sensitivity with excess jacking. Last edited by Dennis; 08-16-2004 at 03:13 PM.. |

I know that you don't lose sensitivity from jacking it. I'm pretty sure that is just a misinformation campaign like going blind from masturbation. How do I know? Well I masturbate quite a bit, and I don't mean quite a bit like once every couple of days, I mean at least once a day, and most days I do it two or three times, and not that uncommonly I will wack off five or more times a day for a couple of weeks at a time, and if that doesn't cause a loss of sensitivity I don't know what amount of masturbation will.

I think I'm desensitized and am convinced it's almost always going to be mental barring a birth defect, or an acquired illness like cancer, or bacteria infection. I'm actually bipolar and the meds I take leave me with sexual side effects. Half the time nowadays I can't even climax, even though I do erect like 100% of the time. I figure it's gotta be the meds I'm taking because before that, I could climax like a pro. :P
