Common people, a little restraint?
This is sort of a rant, and I didn't want to put this directly on the titty board, so I figure this is the next best thing. Here goes...
Can we stop calling women 'bitches'? Everytime I go there, I always see "I'd bang that bitch", "Smoking Bitch gets laid". Common already, is that the only word you can come up with? How about something a little less derogatory? Sorry if I'm looking too much into this, its just been bothering me. Thanks

If i'm lookin on the titty board, or any where in Erogenous Zone, there's really nothing people say that i'll take tooooo much to heart. I may not agree with it, but that's part of the freedom of posting in one of those areas.

I really don't see why 'bitch' is derogatory unless you're a muslim or Jew. People call each other names derived from other animal and plant species. What's so bad about dogs?

It's just a word, whether the word Bitch, Whore, Cunt, whatever is used, it's the meaning behind the word that's derogatory, not the word that's being used. [rant mode] I don't peruse the Titty board, just not my thing - so i don't know if my rant truly applies, but I've seen it in enough other places to know that it could I always get a great deal of amusement when I see posts such as "Yeah, I'd do her" or something to that effect, let's be real here, like she'd actually give 99 percent of the folks who are whacking off to her pictures a tumble? Come on.. you can say whatever you want about doing her- are you doing her a favor? No, she'd be doing you the favor. By saying, Yah, I'd do her, is that supposed to be giving her respectability, or demeaning her even further... [end rant] Just the opinions of a bitch.

hiya. i'm a moderator. on top of that, my tastes run a little less than mainstream.
that being said, it bothers me to no end when i see knuckleheads who sit there and talk down on women who don't fit their "ideal woman" template. calling her a bitch, whore, slut, trash, cow, ugly, or any other nonsense is unnecessary. it's simply a testosterone response, similar to the grunting, scratching, spitting response that says "dammit, i'm a hetero, i'm an alpha, and i fucking rule" - most of the time this is posturing by people who are truly insecure, but feel the need to exhibit themselves as vital, so they put on the personae. it really bothers me that people can degrade and objectify just to cover their own base insecurities. as a person, i think it's inappropriate. as a moderator, i think it's unneeded, and it exhibits a disrespect that we don't need around here.

I'm noticing a disturbing trend of people - in real life - frequently referring to women as bitches. Thgese are, of course, the same guys whom I have no respect for regarding relationships such as one of my roommates last year who had 3 girlfriends at once, and once had sex with all three in the same day at one point or another. None of them knew about anyone else. I had the biggest grin inside when one of them found out and I heard him trying to explain away on the phone. At the same time, I almost wanted to punch him because he thought it was more funny than anything else and had no regards for the girls' feelings.
Anyways, so I'm noticing this disturbing trend of calling women bitches and I don't like it. I don't know how to suggest going about stopping it, but I'd venture to say that any woman looking for someone other than a fuck buddy should not enter into a relationship with a man who refers to women - in general or specific women - as bitches in a casual sense. I've never met one that was worth knowing. EDIT: phred posted as I was typing and I just wanted to add that I agree with him wholeheartedly.

I get tired of the trend of guys online who jump all over a girl who has a differing opinion of her. It doesn't happen so much here, but I've seen it in other places. The reply is usually "Oh well you're just a fat ugly bitch anyway." It's obnoxious. How can it stop? Lead by example. Don't like the words? Don't use them. And when your friends use them, let them know how you feel about it. Maybe they'll come around too. Signed, A Strong Woman, but not a Bitch.

I just genereally avoid insulting people. It works fine for me, bitch is reserved for women who start to pass on the right and then actively try to run me off the road with their Escalades or H2's because I was only going 80 in a 55 zone.
If you're wondering how often people like that actively try to run me off the road, I can say that it's happened more than once recently. |

Each case really needs to be considered on its own merits. It is the intent behind the words which are harmful, not the words themselves.
My friends and I quite normally address each other as "cunt", "tosser", "wanker", "assmunch", "asshat", "prick", "bastard", etc., but never with any harmful intent. In fact on the rare occasions when any of us do get genuinly pissed off with each other, we are usually quite respectful in our mode off address. So if someone uses "bitch" on the titty board, surely you've got to either assume that there is no real cognitive process behind it, so no malice was intended, or that the guy's an asshat who doesn't know what he's talking about, so who cares what he thinks anyway? Unless he knows the girl and she really is a bitch.

I think the problem may be that you seem to expect class from people who are jerking off to naked pictures of women.
I peruse the tb every now and then and i never have understood the need to comment on anything contained within it. What's the point of posting, "Dude, i'd fuck her" or "Those cones arrrrr killrrrr"? Porn isn't the kind of thing that necessitates constructive criticism. To put it bluntly, it is not neccesary to inform the tfp that you'd fuck her, or whether you appreciate the shape of her "funbags". Obviously you do, otherwise you wouldn't have just busted a nut looking at her. For a whole new perspective on porn, instead of focusing on the titties or the various genitalia try focusing on the fact that these women are real people with families and friends and then try to imagine how you'd feel if a bunch of random internet trenchcoats were calling your sister or your girlfriend or, god forbid, your mother, a bitch after they just ejaculated looking at her picture. |

Hmm, I don't understand the reason for using these words. There are so many beautifull ways of verbalizing your appreciation of the woman whose nudie-pics you've just seen.
Write a poem, say someting nice about her eyes, apreciate the scenerey. Don't degrade someone you've never met, writing nasty things. It only proves that you are the kind of person that phredgreen's post described. Couldn't that become a new rule by the way? Appreciation of the womens beauty is to be expressed through poems only.. j/k

And yes, this judgement also happens for women in all kinds of professions, not just for porn stars. To think that some of the guys i've heard say this, could acctually have any chance in the first place, or be doing the women a favour by doing her is hilarious - it's like their opinon only matters and it could happen if they wanted to, yeah right Guy1: Oh, what a hot bitch, i'd do her Guy2: mmm..but would she do you...? i don't generally toss around bad words at people unless they damn well deserve it. I also don't understand the tendency for more and more men to find it acceptable to verbally degrade women by calling them names... and in such a stupid, passive-aggressive manner, too.
However- some girls ARE bitches, some girls ARE sluts, and some girls are nasty to people in general and deserve it. We don't get upset when someone calls a guy an asshole when he is one. Hell, women will cheer and celebrate how much of an asshole a guy is. I've seen numerous threads dedicated to how much of an asshole/prick/loser/jerk/moron a guy is, only for the purpose of putting him down. I hear plenty of girls talk this way about other girls, as well- this is not strictly male. I can't tell you how often i hear girls calling other girls bitches, sluts, ho's, etc., from far away based on a glance at the girl. It's as often as I hear a guy do the same thing. I also can't count the number of times i've heard, "all men are pigs/assholes/jerks/fuckheads/dickheads/etc." from women. I find it funny that, although we may do it a little more than the women, we are being yelled at like we're alone in this sin. Last edited by analog; 06-24-2004 at 10:31 PM.. |

It is fine to reclaim a word and use it to describe yourself, much the way that some blacks have reclaimed Nigger thereby diffusing the prejorative... That said, as much as you can co-opt the word you can't copt the intent. Guys who say, "I'd hit that Bitch" or racists who use the word Nigger are still being derogatory. It's rude and disrespectful... but worse it's lazy. Most of the idiots throwing Bitch around do so to be glib. "It doesn't mean anything, I'm just goofing around." I'd argue it just underscores a general contempt they have for women.

LOTS of guys seem to have a need to call women bitch, ho, slut, etc. who appear in porn or naked in photos. I don't get it. Never have. Many guys really get off on degrading any woman who is overtly sexual, which is exactly the kind of woman they all claim to want. The only thing I want to call these sexy women is "mine." Go figure.

I've never had an overwhelming desire to refer to some chick in a porno as a "bitch". Occasionally, men who are actually screwing these said women in these said films will call them bitches as well. Do I use the word, ever? Hell yeah. I use it about my wife's co-worker all the time. Just not around her OR my wife.
Now, this part may make me seem like a bit of an arsehole, but if that is the case, so be it. I do admit that on occasion I may look at some nice piece of ass and think to myself, "yeah, I'd fuck that bitch". I'd never SAY it, but I might think it. I'd only think that, though, if I, in a moment of sheer masculine indifference, felt that the female in question wouldn't be good for anything else. In fact, I don't think I've ever used the phrase "I'd fuck her" about a woman - either out loud or within me - unless I felt that they weren't anywhere near being someone I'd want to even KNOW socially, but that they had nice enough a rack or an ass. In this context, the word "bitch" simply emphasizes this. I don't think that anyone who actually visits the Titty Board thinks, even in their wildest dreams, that any of those chicks would actually want to engage in anything sexual with them. The Titty Board is much like television...it's a release, an escape from reality. Is there something authentic, original and meaningful about the Titty Board? Of course not. Then why should it matter what is being said there, so long as it isn't illegal? I dunno, the mere thought of censoring the Titty Board seems ridiculous to me. The whole of TFP is one of the very few existing places where I can be who I am, and not worry about getting slammed down for not being PC enough. In all honesty, porn is still mostly a man's domain. Most porn produced is made for a male audience. To enter such a domain and expect not to come across anything that rubs you the wrong way is a bit immature. And to digress a little... I realize that there are men more mature than me and more sophisticated etc etc and whathaveyou that would never resort to the use of such a derogatory word. And that are offended by this word. Okay, I'm fine with that. I understand that. I don't necessarily relate to it, but I understand it. But I dare suggest that most housebroken males are a simple breed. We like watching porn where women are, perhaps, displays as nothing but sexual objects. Perhaps they're whipped. Perhaps the girl wears a shirt that says Seventeen, she has pigtails, and sucks his cock obediently. Not exactly my cup of tea, but I do see the appeal. Housebroken, well-trained men like myself are too pussified to even dream of using the word "bitch" out loud when around our significant others. I live in a college town, and often see broads that look like they have oatmeal for brains, but have a nice combo of T&A. Now and then I'd like to yell out "ahh, I'd fuck that bitch", just because. Just because. But I can't. Which is why it is so nice to know that there is a place like the TB where a man can still think with his cock, and make nothing of it.
