Hickeys: like or no?
 

wondering what tfp members think of hickeys. aside from the medical research done on them, i just wanted to know, do you like them or not? do you like leaving a mark on someone showing everyone that they are yours? or do you like having a mark from your SO showing that you are theirs?

i personally am not too familiar with hickeys, but ive had a few. i think they are ugly, but maybe the emotional meaning is ok? im not really sure. i actually have a birthmark on my neck that looks just like a hickey, so i guess that's good enough for me. well, post your opinions! :)

I have a scar on my neck that looks like a hickey....it sucks

I associate them with the frustrations of youth... They're not for me anymore.

i dont mind them, aslong as they can be covered up, that i'm firm about, because work dont appreciate coming in with them where customers can see them (i work in retail). she knows that, and keeps them where clothing can cover.

generally get them when she's struggling to keep quiet (most times there are other siblings asleep in rooms near hers), never just 'hey, im going to give you a hickey ... THERE'. that i think is a little weird for my liking.

gives me something to remind me of her throughout the week when i dont see her. that, and nothing beats walking out of the shower, my brother seeing them and getting frustrated because he cant remember the last time he had sex. aahh its great.

Don't like them. They look gross.

I hadn't had one since high school, until a guy I was dating decided it would be fun and gave me one about a year ago... I didn't get away fast enough...

Hickeys, summer, open neck shirts, BAD IDEA....

If they are done in the heat of the moment its really hot. But just having a little make out session and having my neck sucked so that I have a hickey is just tacky. I think I've maybe had two, but my shirt has always been able to cover them up and they weren't full blown hickeys.

I don't mind them in the heat of the moment. My hubby absolutely hates them and gets pissed if I even joke about giving him one.

i like giving and recieving them...i guess i havent grown out of them yet. hehe.

my gf on the other hand hates talking abou them and says they are kinda trashy...but when i give her one she loves it and like shows it off. she is goofy like that, but i love her!

I like giving them (:D), but if I'm getting one, it had better be where I can hide it... I just think they look tacky.

I think they look trashy too. I give them if asked or if I know she likes them, otherwise it won't really cross my mind. And I absolutely hate receiving them, that sucking, blood-to-the-surface feeling makes me feel sick :(

I love them! As long as they are in places where only I will see them. When grown adults walk around with them on their necks, it is a little gross, but when hid, they are fun to look at because you remember what you were doing when you got them. I also love giving them and marking my territory!

I personally love them!

I tend to prefer them where they won't be seen, though.


I actually hadn't had one for quite sometime until this weekend. I've currently got a small one (more of a bite mark than an actual suction-produced hickie) on my neck right now. It's not as hidable as I'd usually prefer, but it was from someone special that I never get to see, and we didn't even realize it was there for a day or two, so I'm enjoying it. It gives me something to remember her by, now that we're over 800 miles apart.

Hickies are nifty, as long as you can hide them. I like giving/recieving hideable ones.

My ex gave me huge ones on my neck after our first date (he was still stuck in the HS phase - although he was 21). Luckily I had a pretty bad horse riding accident the day after, so when people saw it I blamed it on the accident. That's the only time in my life I've ever had to wear cover up makeup. Ugh.

I always though they were stupid. I always loved making out and not wasting time sucking on a neck. Now licking a neck and making out seems to turn most girls on.

Yes there is nothing that says I am cool like a sting of purple hickeys strung around your neck...

I had a goth friend whose female friend would get all "vampire" on people. She thought it was funny to give people hickies. Try explaining that to your girlfriend...

Not for me. I don't give, nor expect to recieve. If by chance it happens, it better be somewhere that I can hide it, and I'll do the same.

I like the moment when I could potentially be given one, but really, hickeys are just an embarassment the next day.

Hate 'em! I don't know how to give one, either. I had a lesbian friend who was always flirting with me and at my fucking bachelorette party (where I'm drunk off my ass of course) she lunges at me in front of everyone and gives me a hickey before anyone can get her off me. So I had to go home and explain to my fiance how I have a hickey on my neck and from whom. Then I had to stress about whether or not it would still be there the next weekend when I got married. Wouldn't that have looked nice in my wedding pictures?!

Yeah, so I really hate them.

they're kinda nice, but not like i want one to walk around with every day of my life, maybe once in a big while...

My girlfriend has an obsession with giving me hickeys....

I think it's a territorial thing for her (or something like that) because she's always trying to mark her territory to fend off other women, but I think it's very immature and childish.

All I think of is the frustrations of 7th grade.

I like getting them, it feels great, but it hate them when they are 'there'... they last for a few days and take on the ugliest of colors; plus they're on a very visible spot so everyone is gonna see them, and you'll get lots of stupid remarks... Trying to hide them away 1)never work completely and 2)will make you look even stupider when they do find out ...

But still, the feeling of one sucking in your neck... mmmmm


the thing i really hate is that i myself don't seem capable of "marking my man" ... i can't give a hickey to my boyfriend, it never works... at best you can see a bit of a red spot, but that will fade after a few minutes already... so, if anyone has good advice on how to place the perfect hickey? (oh and yes, i tried sucking already...)

I like them and think that they're fun to both give and get. I, too, prefer that they be hidden though.

i like em as long as they are in places easily covered. neck = no. whenever i see one that i got from my SO it reminds me of her and all the "fun" we had because i only really get to see her like 2 times a week.

I'm a little inexperienced, and I'm sure asking this question will just make me look stupider, but all you people who said you like them places you can hide them...where else would you get them other than your neck?

shoulders, chest, lower neck around the collar bone where you can hide it, possibly breasts? im not too familiar with it either, so dont feel bad for asking....

I'm not down with the huge purple type on the neck that make you look like trash. I'm a bigger fan of biting *chills* just mkae sure they wont be visible when I put my clothes back on, that really pisses me off.

scratches, bite marks, hickeys - I love them all. What a great reminder they are of last night's lovemaking.

Hickeys sound great as long as they can be hidden. Unfortunetly my girlfriend won't have it :( kind of a bummer.

Nah. Don't like em. I prefer some sucking in other areas. Hickeys look kinda dirty and gross IMO.

My gf used to give them to me all the time when we were in college just in the course of fooling around. She has a mouth that can plant a hickey in under five seconds, so unless I was quick I would find myself with a hideous lamprey-mark on my neck that would earn me laughter and mockery from my friends. She's given up on it now, more or less, but sometimes she does it "by accident" and I have to hope I'm not seeing a client in the next few days. I am completely incapable of marking her in this way; I don't know why.

i've never considered it a territorial mark. i give way more bites below the belt and in places no one but me will see to give a damn if they appear "taken"

Hell, I think they're great. I especially like having one on my right cheek when I go in to see my banker, or for a job interview. Gives them trust in me that I'm a mature, dependable prospect.

Hickeys are gross. Think about it, you're sucking someone's blood out to their skin. If you suck hard enough you can even pull the blood into your mouth....

Anyways, they're not for me...
