Going in for a certain "male procedure" this week...
Going in to get "snipped" this week
This cartoon pretty much sums up how I feel about it. http://irc.rickbert.org/neut/vasectomy.jpg Any words of advice, encouragement, ridicule from those already "in the know?" Is it really going to be as bad as I'm fearing it will be? (Nice first post from a n00b, huh? ) |

Thanks! :) |
there was a detailed and very hilarious account posted about 1-2 months ago,,,be sure to read that...
moral of his story was:take all the painkillers the docs give u :P |
that cartoon is making me squirm
|
It's fun... every guy should do it aleast twice in his lifetime.
|
You're in luck. I can tell you all about it. I just had it done about 6 weeks ago. No problem. It doesn't hurt much. The worst is when the doc pulls the vas out through the incision. At that point you will feel a tugging that is quite uncomfortable. He'll do that twice--once on each side. You'll have the feeling like you were kicked in the balls, but you'll get over it soon enough. At a certain point in the procedure I began to have a case of the cold sweats, but the wife was there to mop my face with a cold rag and to hold my hand.
My doc said he's had guys make a call in the middle of the surgery. They usually call a friend and say, "Hey dude, you'll never guess what I'm doing right now!" My doc also advised me to drink a few margaritas before coming in--just as a little something to take the edge off. My balls were really swollen. And black and blue. But within two weeks they were back to normal--still really swollen and black and blue. (the last part is a joke). Also, I regularly shave my balls, and I did it the night before. The doc said it wasn't necessary. Although he said I had done quite a good job. :o) |
Only advice I can give is make sure its what you want I got one two years ago I have two kids I thought I was positive back then thats what I wanted but now that im going though a divorce im not sure any more. oh by the way iff you do have it done a reclining chair with two freezer bags of ice are great

If you are saving sperm "just in case" don't get the proceedure done.
|
Yeah, think about it carefully first as reversal is never guaranteed (I think it has about 50% success rate?)
But the procedure in my case was quick, simple and painless. Uncomfortable but Ive had far worse experiences at the hands of my dentist. Swollen and tender balls for about 24 hours was the only after-effect. Good luck :) |
I went through this about 2 years ago. Heres my advice.
#1 Frozen peas are your best friend in the world They work the best out of everything I tried. They never get to cold, stay cold enough for some time but, most importantly they contour to your unit very easily. A very important feature. Keep them iced for several hours afterwards. I iced mine for about 5 then went off and on in half our intervals. #2 Dont do shit! I'm not kidding. If you dont want your sack the size of a cantalope sit your ass down and relax for two days. Movies, video games or TFP for you. You will be even more sore if you dont take it easy. (My brother in law didnt take it easy and went golfing. He was out of work for two more days to recover) Your sack will turn purple then almost black, mine did anyway. Then slowly clear up. All in all its really no biggie. Follow the advice above and your good. The needles do suck. I wont bullshit you on that, however it only lasts a few seconds then its numb. Oh yea. If your shaving your sack, hop in the shower and use baby oil. Best thing out there to use. I shaved for my surgery and keep it that way because my wife likes it. Good luck mate! |
Good luck - my nuts feel for you.
|
dude...what the fuck lol
|
The deed has been done. (I even had the benefit of a 3rd year, hottie, med student assisting my doctor.)
A few things... 1) It really doesn't hurt, but godDAMN it's uncomfortable as hell. 2) Frozen peas are king! 3) Don't try to mow the grass less than 48 hours afterwards. Thanks for the words of wisdom, y'all! |
When the doc says don't forget the ice, don't ignore him. It makes the drugs last longer, which is a good thing. Given that, the pain won't be too bad. Take it easy, watch TV, imagine the greatness of what you have accomplished- no more taking seriously what was poked in jest!!!

*bows in awe to all men have had this done to them*
*continues to be in sympathic pain from that damn cartoon* |
I'm scheduled for June 25th. I'm so scared I think I've shat myself.

Once you get past the whole "They're cutting my sack!" thing, it's pretty tolerable. There's some discomfort from the shifting, pulling, pushing, and tugging. But overall it's pretty painless. |
had it done years ago...took very few pain pills... Lay around a few days wear a jock strap and everything will be OK. DONOT lift anything for a few days. He used a local anesthetic just a little discomfort, waited a few minutes... a few minutes later I was leaving... ALOT easier than a hernia repair

Blumpkin Thanks for the report-back, it's sure to help the next guy going under the scary-knife.
This is what TFP is for! |
After long thought and research, I will gettin snipped myself. Ive been taking notes on the advice, thanks.
|
dont think anybody posted this and they should of if they wanted to do anything the next day,and that's were a jock strap, yes jock strap,it keeps it all together and that's the main thing,i had one done acouple years ago and the first day i was on so much pain, then i went out and bought a jock strap and i was playing ball 2 days later.so if anybody else is getting one soon make sure you get a jock strap.you can thank me later.ha
|
Time to get mine scheduled. You guys make it sound not so bad.
|

As said above
Make sure you have tight underwear or a jock and wear them for three or four days. Avoid walking on hard surfaces as much as possible (to avoid jarring). MAKE SURE YOU GET IT TESTED-- Mine grew back and I wound up with a second child --but that is another story. Good luck |
a cup wont hurt,,,but i used a suporter same as jockstrap, you can get them anywhere,MAKE SURE YOU WHERE IT SOON AS YOU WALK OUT OF DOCTOR'S,TRUST ME WHERE IT IN THE SHOWER AND EVERYWHERE FOR WEEK OR SO.....I'm surprised the doctor didnt tell me about the suporter,i had to find out on my own..
|
So, not to ask a stupid question, but is this covered by insurance, and if not, how much does it usually cost?
|
Why does the patient in the cartoon have a smile on his face?
|
my company paid for it,and my insurance is not all that good.no worries any more,i feel like a porn star now in the bedroom, hahahaha
|
poor guys. it doesnt sound like much fun:(
|
I am scheduled for july 9th, I have heard that it can improve your sexual "Stamina". Has anybody noticed any effect in stamina or desire afterwards?
|
Okay Blumpkin, how you doing? It's been a few weeks now...
|
Okay guys, I got mine done on Friday, June 25th. So far, so good. There's a little tenderness but I've been taking it easy so theres very little swelling. I have a quarter sized bruise at the very top of my scrotum though. They suggested 7 days before intercourse but I tried it out, carefully, on Monday. I couldn't go hard enough to finish because of the tenderness but the wife took care of it orally. It's only been the one time so I can't say that I notice anything different. She said my stuff came out extra thick and clumpy though.
|
I've noticed no difference in stamina. I can still fuck like a bull!
My insurance covered 100%. Now run guys, to your nearest nut doctor, and get snipped. |
Really, ask Moonstrucksoul, my hubby- it's really not that bad. You'll be fine- just make sure you WANT this.
