best lubrication for anal sex??

what is the best lubrication for anal sex?

me and my girl friend just got into it... we are using vasoline.

is there any bad things that could happen?

i would prefer the substance to be household, im not into going to a sex shop and buying lube....

tisonlyi 03-08-2004 06:31 AM

if you've got a card, why not buy the lube over't'net?

or is this a ma'n'pa wont like that type deal?

Holo 03-08-2004 07:01 AM

If you are using condoms DO NOT use Vaseline!!! Petroleum dissolves latex which means you might as well not bother.

The best seller and most recommended when I worked at a porn store was Astroglide. I have heard you can get it at Target as well. It's not cheap but a little goes a ways.

ledzep 03-08-2004 07:03 AM

i know, i dont use a condom, thats stupid!!

i mean like house hold materials, like... soybean/sunflower oil work better? or anything like that???

tisonlyi 03-08-2004 07:16 AM

If you're not using condoms - and you really should be - try olive oil.

but if you're big enough to be doing this with someone you've not been in a lengthy relationship with, you're big enough to go into a sex shop and buy the proper equipment.

A half arsed job isnt worth starting.

Why not a stick of butter?

Seriously dude even K-Y at the drugstore is tons better than that. Your gf is giving you one of the brass rings of a relationship..at least spring for decent lube.

tfin 03-08-2004 08:19 AM

I agree, it gets better with proper lube. I recomend ID Lube. The little lady and I used it for the back door romp and it works great.

I agree, ID is also a good product and great seller. They also offer Astro and ID in little "pillow packs" which are the about the size and shape of a breath mint if you're short cashwise. They go for a buck or so and you could prolly use a single pillow pack for 2 fucks if you were careful. However don't wait too long many lubes, especially oil based ones, can become rancid if left open.

motdakasha 03-08-2004 08:42 AM

astroglide

MSD 03-08-2004 09:52 AM

If you really want something household, use baby oil. It's almost as hard to wash off as vaseline. It's also thin, so you won't have globs of stuff all over.

World's King 03-08-2004 10:44 AM

I don't get the whole "household" thing. You wanna do it right then suck it up and buy some lube. You don't have to go to a sex shop to get it. You can get a very good lube at a drug store. If you're too embarassed to buy lube... you're not mature enough to be sticking your lady in the butt. Sorry. Astroglide... it's anal heaven in a tube.

WarWagon 03-08-2004 11:13 AM

Ditto the Astroglide. Nothing to be ashamed of when going and buying things like this, just remember, they sell it for a reason, so you're not the first and you won't be the last to buy it.

sigma1042 03-08-2004 12:30 PM

you might as well go for the whole experience

prison lube

just spit on it first

ninjasmurf 03-08-2004 02:41 PM

DON'T USE VASELINE.

Well, it's not going to kill you. But generally, for any sort of sex stuff, you want to stay away from oil based lubricants. You're dealing with some pretty sensitive areas, and you want to do as little as possible to upset the local chemistry.

Astroglide, KY, any WATER BASED lube. Target brand lube works just fine, and it's cheaper. It's basically the same thing as astroglide, with different packaging.

Yes, water based lube is usually recommened because it wont degrade condoms. However, even without a condom, go with water based. It's kinder to body chemistry, and will reduce the risk of some long term problems.

And cleanup is way easier.

kutulu 03-08-2004 03:14 PM

Personally, my wife and I don't do anal. I like keeping my penis clean so she can give head in between position changes. We have used vibrators to simulate double penetration though and we have used a wide variety including (but not limited to) spit, ky, wet, and astroglide.

If you're bold enough to do it in the ass, then you should be bold enough to go to a porn store. However, that is just MHO. If a porn store is too much, just buy the KY at the grocery store. Also, with anal you should use a condom, I would if we were into that (even though we are married and don't mess around with other people).

Strange Famous 03-08-2004 03:29 PM

I dunno, you could try dripping or lard? I think you would be better buying something intended for the job though

ratbastid 03-08-2004 04:44 PM

I vote a big thumbs DOWN on Astroglide. I used it before I knew any better, but there are much better products out there.

I have two complaints about Astroglide. First, it's very thing and runny, which makes it messy to use. Second, it dries sticky very quickly. All water-based lubes are going to evaporate, but Astroglide doesn't seem to last more than a few minutes. I suspect those two issues are related, both being a function of the high water content of the stuff.

IDGlide is the one we're using now. It's much thicker, so it stays put better. And it takes it much longer to dry out. And it's odorless and more or less flavorless. Much better.

Don't follow this advice if you plan to have safe, protected sex. Anything oil based will weaken, and potentially break the condom.

Just a reminder: It's easier for the receiver to contract and STI via anal. Man or woman.

toxic515 03-08-2004 06:17 PM

Astroglide, hands down. stay away from the petrolium products, you're not greasing up an engine here...

DelayedReaction 03-08-2004 06:17 PM

I second the comment that Astroglide tends to dry out really quick. Still, if you slather it on and go right for it the product works really well. And you can buy it at Giant.

As far as I'm concerned, sexual lubricants ARE a household item.

okay, I'd like to second THAT motion.

WarWagon 03-08-2004 06:49 PM

AG also comes in a gel form for those that prefer something a bit thicker than the traditional astroglide.

aclhammond 03-08-2004 08:09 PM

This guy highly recommends this product...

Pellaz 03-08-2004 08:47 PM

Astroglide is definately not our cup of tea. I agree with the points ratbastid made about it whole heartidly.

Our newest best friend is ID Millennium. It's a silicone lube, and as such, more expensive on the surface, but if you used the same amount of it as you would astro glide, it would feel like you were wrestling in slick stuff (not always a bad thing). Plus, it doesn't dry out like water based lubes do, is safe on latex, and leaves skin feeling silky smooth.

qtpye4u84 03-08-2004 10:27 PM

well, the new ky jelly is a warming one, but it works when you put it into her vagina then while its in there she can lick her hand and rub it on to herself or you could then there you go put it in but make sure it does not hurt if it does add more spit/vagina juice/or ky jelly I know hehe anal is good for guys that are afraid of there girl friends blood when there on there period because then i can still sorda get some when im on my period Motion lotion is good it gets warm and has a lot of flavors

zampolit 03-09-2004 07:05 AM

We've been using WET Platinum for quite a while. Very nice feel. Somewhat tenacious to wash off though. It works equally well with skin and toys. It has a handy flip top lid that can be opened and closed onehanded. :D

doncalypso 03-09-2004 08:46 AM

Astroglide....

You could try the new warm on contact KY Jelly, but some women's anal tissues are so sensitive that it may end up burning them though.

wubbawubba 03-09-2004 09:54 AM

Get it at the dollar store.
Anywhere else is too dang expensive.

Venus 03-09-2004 10:27 AM

Astroglide all the way. Just don't use anything oil-based (like the vaseline you mentioned) because it can damage her and it's uncomfortable as hell! Water based lubs like KY and Astroglide are best and I've never had the problem of them drying out like mentioned above

pocon1 03-09-2004 11:52 AM

I personally don't like KY, and the antisperm products irritate my wife, but I do like Astroglide and their gel version. I remember being in a shop called 9 1/2 weeks in college with my now wife, then girlfriend, and they had a one gallon jug of astroglide with a pump dispenser. Man. I wish I could go to the party where they needed that. Also, be a man and buy some lube.

ledzep 03-09-2004 12:30 PM

ok...

what are the problems with the oil based lubes? what can it do that is bad?

also, what is the point in wearing a condom? i cannot get her pregnant through anal penetration and we dont cheat on eachother and before this all, we were both virgins in everyway possible.....

WarWagon 03-09-2004 01:51 PM

Like motdakasha said, anything oil based will weaken, and potentially break the condom. It is possible for the semen to drip down to the vaginal area, but more importantly, there is a lot of bacteria in there that can cause infection. Wearing a condom can actually make things more comfortable by reducing friction.

stevie667 03-09-2004 01:57 PM

Eros is quite good, it's a silicone based lube, so doesn't arse off (excusing the pun) after a while like water based ones. it's also very light, and stays where you put it, which is good for anal.
try looking for extra lubbed condoms if you can't get lube, they're ok too.

motdakasha 03-09-2004 04:40 PM

Adding to what WarWagon said:

Yeah, it cuts down on the microscopic tears that occur during intercourse (vaginal or anal).

Furthermore, the point of wearing a condom is that it's a prophylactic whereas other forms of birth control are not. I.E. NO COMMUNICABLE DISEASES ARE SHARED.

Quote:

For the receiver as well as the giver. The microscopic tears in the rectum are big welcome signs to bacteria that already existed in there but had no place to go previously. Also, feces and its gang of friends will go up the male's urethra during anal intercourse if a condom is not worn, which will also encourage an infection (UTI or similar).

ledzep 03-09-2004 06:10 PM

how many of you use condoms when having anal sex? what are the chances of getting infection?

ledzep 03-09-2004 06:11 PM

i mean, she is a clean girl, and we wont have anal sex if she recently, well took a crap.

iambo 03-09-2004 10:43 PM

Being 19 and all my girlfriend and I are usually to broke to buy condoms, or sometimes we just dont have any at the time right when we wanna do it so we've been doing the anal thing. We find that saliva works just fine for us. Have you tried just getting her to rub her spit on it a bit?

No rectum is spic and span.

From: http://www231.pair.com/grpulse/bt/andire.html
The colon is home to 100 trillion bacteria.
Human feces are normally 1/4 dead intestinal bacteria.
The body's bacteria could fill a soup can.

You can obtain condoms for free if you go to clinics like Planned Parenthood or nurse offices as most colleges (nonreligious). I think you're just rationalizing excuses for not using them.

Nancy 03-10-2004 04:19 AM

spit

agball 03-10-2004 08:07 AM

Lube

Just use your standard KY jelly
