On a serious note, the lack of emotional involvement that tends to drag down masturbation is usually what makes it boring for me... so I try to tie in into some of my real feelings and desires. I have music that makes me think of someone that helps. So, for me, it comes down to making the experience more dynamic. If you don't have someone in your life specifically that you're with or have a crush on or something, find something that ties into some fantasy that you had about someone walking down the street or whatever that caused you to take notice. I generally fantasize about someone that I know that I see on the street that I'm physically attracted to. Rarely is it the same person twice. In some ways, this is my way of "going outside the marriage" that helps me get into sex with my wife more.
