Men like being objectified

After acting like a bit of a hot-shot for most of Monday (Australia Day, playing cricket, football and such) and making a few observations, aslo tied in with some expierence, i came to a conclusion today; that all men/males like to be objectified :p :D

I guess it's a testostorone thing, or closely tied with most guys fretting about their penis size (and see it as an object representing their manliness) and/or the need/requirement to obtain certain things to represent their penis (ie some kind of phallic symbol/extension). Although that's probably getting off topic a bit...although i think it builds off of that? :hmm:

Agree/Disagree/Experiences? :p

I wholeheartedly agree :)
I know for sure i enjoy every little bit of attention i get from the opposite sex (Or the same sex for that matter ), no matter what kind if is actually.

You're probably right, but I think there's a difference between being admired and having attention and being truly objectified.

I think everyone might like being objectified for a little while - who doesn't want to be treated as a sex object every know and then? - but on a regular basis I'll be it gets kind of annoying to be seen as the sum of your physical parts and nothing more.

I don't mind affection and being admired, but being really objectified is degrading. I don't dig that.

RenaissanceII 01-28-2004 08:51 AM

yeah, it would be a bit of an ego boost to be objecified for a little bit :)

I think we like to be objectified because it doesn't happen so often. Or at least not as obviously as it does to women.

feelgood 01-28-2004 10:17 AM

I don't care really. People can say shit all about me and objectifed me all they want to. If it's funny, I'll laugh, if it ain't funny I'll punch them.

I would love to be sexually harassed
I would love to be treated like a piece of ass.
I would love to be objectified.
I would love to be left alone in the morning after a night of sex and not called ever again.
I would love her telling all her friends we fucked, even if she was skank.

(I'd like the above by a woman of course)

This is the fundamental difference between men and women. Let's invoke the "not every but most" rule and the above applies. I could understand always being treated as above and not taken seriously but I'd love being in the spot of picking and choosing fucks, Having someone want me as a sex object, etc. I think I could live with not being taken seriously. :D

I think I'm sort of an exception. A little objectification is ok... but it can reach a point where I feel negated. I am much more than the way I look and my penis and my achievements. I have some pride in all of these things, but I don't want to be reduced to them.

Holo... I've got the number of a local whore for you. ;)

PDOUBLEOP 01-28-2004 01:01 PM

"What would you do if you were omnipotent?"

"I'd kill myself."

ratbastid 01-28-2004 01:21 PM

You know, there's "play" objectification (which I'm totally for!) and then there's "real" objectification. Different things.

lurkette sometimes wolf-whistles at me when I'm doing something physical. It's cute, and it means she's admiring me. Technically I suppose I'm being objectified, but it's all in fun and I appreciate it.

yournamehere 01-28-2004 01:48 PM

Since all men are horndogs (OK - most), at first thought, being a sex object might sound nice, but I think that most men - if they give it some serious thought - will find it just as objectionable as women do.

It's happened to me on more than one occasion, and - while it was fun while it was happening - it's not exactly an ego boost to just be thought of as nothing more than a life support system for a penis.

Sleepyjack 01-28-2004 05:43 PM

hmm i can't believe i posted this

heh, all i think you need is like 3 random samples and then you can assume normailty within a given confidence interval and having a standard error ;). Although i hvaen't done stats for a while. SO yeah, i am 95% confident all guys feel this way  :p

Ace_O_Spades 01-28-2004 05:48 PM

When people tell me I'm good looking it makes me feel better for the whole day

i dont mind getting whistled at... so i'd have to agree, and i dont really care that im being objectified.
