Sleeping alone while SO is away
 

Does it bother you when your SO is out of town and you have to sleep alone after being used to them being there? My gf and my kid are going on a girl's camping trip and will be gone all weekend. This means the bed, our room and the whole house is MINE ALL MINE!!! :D I was an only child and always had my own room so sleeping/ being alone has always been a good thing for me. It's nice to get a taste of being single once in a while.

What about you? Miss 'em in bed or celebrate your aloneness?

I sleep better with my wife present. I think hearing her breathing helps me relax.

Sleeping alone? It's no treat for me. I don't really need the space. The bed is large, she hogs neither space nor covers, and she's a lot shorter than I am (so even when she's there, I can sleep diagonally if I want to).

I do like falling asleep next to her every night, spooning one way or the other, and spending the night in her warm (physically and spiritually) presence. When she's gone, I have to throw on a couple of extra blankets!

Especially since we got a bigger bed, I prefer it when ratbastid is there. I like snuggling up next to him, and if he's not there (or even if he's rolled away) I get lonely.

I don't mind so much when she's not there. She tends to hog the bed and I only end up with a little sliver to sleep on, which doesn't really bother me. I would say I sleep better anyway, because she can't fall asleep when I am in bed, I have to wait for her to fall asleep before I go to bed. Makes for long nights sometimes

You've just described me and my SO perfectly. I don't mind it so much but it's nice to get a break and have the bed all mine once in a while.

Great timing for this post! I'll be sleeping alone tonight while my fiance' is away with her daughter. On the one hand I'm looking forward to having the place to myself. Whatever I want on TV! No kid to worry about walking in at an inopportune moment! Sittin' round in underwear time! I'm looking forward to stretching out on the bed, my fiance' is sort of a bed hog. On the other hand I really like hearing her breathing and felling her beside me. Its comforting and really warms my heart. But what the hey, I'll miss her but what the hey, a night alone for me! Woo Hoo!

nah, doesnt bother me when my girlfriend is gone, but it really bothers her for some reason.

It bugs me when she's not around - I tend to fall asleep very easily when I'm wrapped around her. When I sleep alone, I end up rolling all over the bed, trying to find somewhere to get comfortable, and I normally end up being so cold I have to sleep with clothes on, and even then shiver. I don't like sleeping alone. :p

I sleep ok, but it is much much much better when anti fishstick is here. I resort to listening to CDs that remind me of her and snuggling with the stuffed animal that she gave me... maybe that sounds a little pathetic, but it helps me feel like she's there with me. After getting the best sleep of my life while being with her, I do what I can to get that feeling back... in the end, it all amounts to just looking forward to when she gets back from the Philippines and toughing it out in the meantime.

I miss my girlfriend when she isn't there, but I enjoy being able to surround myself the covers, and I sleep better when I am alone.

I'd rather have my girlfriend in my bed with them though...
