My girlfriend is in the Philippines right now, so I'll have to wait until she gets back to do something special for her.
What I plan on doing is actually making her dinner (I make an amazing stir fry), creating a couple mix-CDs for her, maybe writing a song (if I can get over my mental block with doing this on my own) and then including it secretly onto one of the CDs, and/or... playing it for her (if I have the courage). I'll also give her the poems I'll have written by the time she gets back, perhaps as recordings on tape also. I think I'd like to give her a bath, and then maybe a nice massage... it seems simple, but what is sweeter than tending to someone with tender care? Finally, if the sky is clear, take her on a walk to a remote place and look at the stars and cuddle until we're ready to come home and sleep.

Not a single X has done anything cool for me. Whores.
I tool one of my Xs to Aspen for a weekend one V-Day. She had to leave early because her mother had a heart attack. I stayed there and got really drunk. Went home the next day to be with her and her family. Worst V-Day ever.

Have yet to spend a V-day with a significant other. I normally sit around (either alone or with friends) and get incredibly drunk - have done so for the past 2 or 3 years running. This year, I don't have the slightest fucking clue what to do.
It's like "oh shit, a girlfriend. Uh, what do I do now?"

He feed me when I was so sick that I couldn't stand up.
He got his sister to write a glowing recommendation letter for me, even after the knock-down drag-out catfight we had just months before. (long story) He gave me a beautiful baby girl. I just wish we could live under the same roof without constantly fighting over stupid shit.

I think the sweetest thing that anyone's done for me was a relatively simple gesture, but it took him a LOT of time. He took one of my favorite songs by my favorite band, and translated it into my favorite language (French). I hadn't spoken or heard French in so long, I cried. He's always been good at simple gestures like that. Even while I was in Utah for 7 months, with no contact with any of my friends, he found me and always had thoughtful things to say/do. He's still one of my best friends.

Last Valentine's day my boyfriend suprised me with a candle light, filet mignion dinner that he cooked all by himself... he put rose petals all over the table and made a music cd of love songs for us to listen to while we ate... He even made dessert which was choc covered strawberries... my favorite! He also had a teddy bear made for me so when I press his foot, I can hear my boyfriend's voice saying, "I love you!" I know it sounds like something right out of a romantic movie... I'm so happy to be with such an amazing, genuine, sweet guy and I love him with all my heart!!

Its not as big a gesture as some posted here but in highschool (before I understood how to actually atract a women) I gave a girl I had a crush on a rose and told her that id like to see more of her. At the time she seemed pleased but avoided me after that. It fustrated me and I never confronted her about it but a year or so later I saw her at a party and she sincerely apologized for her behavier. It was small but meaningfull for me.

My ex and I had just started out together, new place and all. I had relocated about 100 miles from my family. My grandfather ended up in the hospital shortly after that. We were both very very poor, just had enough to get by back then. I needed to commute back & forth to visit him and get to work. My (then boyfriend) hocked the one thing that meant most to him- his guitar- so that I could have money for gas and tolls to see my grandfather before he died.
Not hearts and flowers, but just as meaningful I think. He got his guitar back later that month. |

I've done a few things, one was to sing, another was to send her a letter in the mail enclosed with some meaning for objects that she has said she loved. but i've stopped since the person isn't exactly appreciative of what i do.

I had an audition and performance for a percussion regionals, and one of my friends noticed I was a nervous wreck while I was waiting to be called up. He's a magician on the side, so he spent almost ten minutes making me laugh and keeping me distracted until it was my turn. Then he waited outside the room until I was done. I played better than I had in my life thanks to him. Amazing what you can do with a little pretzel and some paper clips.

Well, my gf is in France right now, but I'm making her x-mas present as we speak. Its a Flash animation video, kind of like a music video filled with pictures of us to our song, Barry White - Can't Get Enough of Your Love. I've been working on it for a week now. I thought it would take forever but I've spent countless hours working on it. I spent like 7 hours on Sunday working on it. It's got me really excited for her to come back because I can't wait to give it to her. I'm also flying up to her place to surprise her when she comes back. She doesn't think we're going to see each other until January and I'm going to be sitting in her room when she gets back from the airport to surprise her with flowers. I'm going to decorate her room all nice and bake a cake with her mom. I think she'll like it.
I was talking to her roommate here at school and she was telling me how real guys don't do the stuff that I do for my gf. I just think of creative stuff to do for her and go for it. For example, last year after being together for 2 months I made her another animation video in Director to the theme of The Shawshank Redemption saying that I had fallen in love with her. It made her cry and when I showed it to her roomate it almost brought her to tears too. |

We avoid Valentine's Day like the marketing hype that it is and try to treat each other specially the other 364 days of the year.
I think the nicest thing she ever did for me, when we were courting, was to make a full English afternoon tea -- home-baked scones, clotted cream, home-made preserves, little sandwiches, the works, just for me and her. She even sent me an invitation. The romantic thing we've ever done for each other is long-distance travel on a posh passenger train, with a nice private compartment. Can't beat it. |

My wife gave me a daughter. Nothing else even comes close. Well, OK, once she forgave me for spending the rent money to buy a rifle, but it was a really nice rifle, and I brought her flowers to occupy her mind while I snuck the rifle into the armory.

My ex used to sing me to sleep whenever I would get a bad fever. Also, one day I came home from work, and there were post-it notes all over the living room. They would say, "Go this way" and "You're getting close!" and stuff like that. They led into my bedroom, which she completely cleaned. She even went to the store and bought me a new large plastic container, which I use even to this day, and placed a bunch of brand-new post-it notes, fine-point Sharpy permanent markers, pens, pencils, and many other things on it. On the wall in my bedroom was a post-it note that said, "I love you." And there she was, sleeping like an angel on my bed. I took a shower and immediately climbed in to bed with her, and we both slept harmoniously together.
Ahhh....memories.
