Should I keep her emails?
I recently broke up with my gf in October. I have saved every email she has sent me ever since we were together (2.5 years) and I'm wondering if I should keep them or delete all of them. What do you guys think?
|
Save them, just for kicks and giggles. But don't keep going back to them and thinking about what you had, and what could have been, unless she wants to get back together.
If you keep them, you will do that. I'd use the ole delete function the minute we were not together anymore, but that's me. |
Keep them... just like people keep old love letters...
File them away, archive them whatever, but I'd keep them. Then again, main critical point about me is that I can't throw anything away... |
Keep em... for now. The <b> <i>first </i> </b> time you go back and begin to pine away for what would have beem, delete them.

Personally, I would delete them. IF you are 100% sure it's over. If not, then keep them - you may want to look back on them one day. But I don't think it would do you any good at all to keep them if there is nothing between the two of you anymore.
|
I don't see a point in keeping them, only to bring heartache upon looking back at them.
|
dont let your next GF find them tho
|
Dude, nothing personal, but you are constantly making threads about this girlfriend that you had until recently (2.5 years). Just get over her already!
Burn everything and find a new girl. |
i would say to def keep them. it can mean alot to you in the future to be able to read them and see how u were in love with her and to remember all the good times you had. it also could be a help to see where you to went wrong and mabee not make the same mistake in the future. all in all i think you will be glad that u kept them.
best thing you can do though is get over her! |
Hold the shift key when you delete them. That way they won't even go to the "deleted" folder.
Just move on. There is nothing in those emails that will help you. Clean break. Keeping them can only keep you pining. |
I was glad that I kept some past e-mails from girlfriends and interests I had because when I looked back through them after taking plenty of time to get over it. I learned a lot about what I had been doing wrong, and what was wrong with the relationship and the person I was with. Keep them not for nostalgic reasons, but for self-edification and growth reasons.

agreed. i save a lot of IM conversations and such as well. and reading through them, especially the "bad" ones, really puts to light the kind of guys i was attracted to and what i shouldn't go for again. and what i should be careful to avoid next time. there's a lot of things that you could reread and think about that you didn't think at the time of the relationship because you were 'blind' to it for whatever reason. |
Keep them, sometimes it's nice to go back and read some of the conversations. I've even saved a few that my girlfriend sent me. Most of em basically say.......Hey, Im at work bored, just wanted to write and say I love you and have a great day. Even something as simple as that made my day better, I'd keep them.
|
Keep em. I have kept old letters and correspondence and when I go back and read em, sometimes I am a bit suprised at what I thought and what I wrote. It's almost like looking into the mind of another person sometimes. Odd, I guess, but there it is.

Delete 'em!
For real... don't hang on to those old feelings OR old memories. When you get a new girl (And you will), you'll just feel like a confused chump when you rediscover them. And when you settle down with a girl, you'll hope like hell you managed to delete them all so SHE doesn't discover them. Besides, if you have any fights in there, e-mails that made you angry, they'll just make you angry again, and who needs that? (From experience, that one) |
Browse through them once, take your walk down memory lane, and then get rid of them. Keeping them on your hard drive will only keep you trapped in the past. You'll never find someone new if all you can think about is your ex. It's time for you to get over her.

burn em'
|
Just remember to keep the ones with naked pictures of her attached.
j/k... |
Keep them and send the embarassing ones to your friends. Jokes. Keep them unless they cause you pain. (but not as much pain as you might get if you want them back)
|
I broke up with my last bf awhile ago, and now I am dating a new guy names Mike, for about 5 months now. I still have my old bf's emails, lots of them too.. I think its best to keep them, I was actually thinking of printing them out.. and hiding them away in a box, till I was older, and could look back in time you know? So you should keep the emails.. possibly print them out!
