How long should I wait to call?
 

So I met a girl at the new years party.. We got along really well. How long should I wait to call her to show her I am interested in going out again? sorry if this has been posted before, search does not appear to be working..

3.72 days. I don´t know man, whenever it feels good and you´re relaxed and cofident and have thought of what you want to say, etc. Good luck, don´t recomend calling after a week though.

2 days minimum. I know its cliche, but I actually wait 4-5.

Dont call her the next day, let her get rid of the hangover, and let her figure out if she still wants to see you again.

2nd day she would have usually met back with her friends and had a good laugh about everything that has happened, and most likely YOU were brought up by her friends, causing her to think about you.

As I said I usually wait 4-5, thats JUST before they stop thinking about you, when she pretty much thinks you wont call. It would have taken her by surprise.

Since you are pretty much inexperienced she can probably tell, so 2 days is a good time for you, if its the weekend call about 3-5pm(she most likely wont be buisy), if its the week day call after 9 (she's most likely just watching tv and is secretly hoping for someone to talk to).

I'd say around 3-4 days.

Call her when ever you want.

If shes something of a bitch who is full of herself, I think waiting is better, as the less interested you seem, the more interested she will be. Then again I wouldn't want to date someone like that.

I think the last girl I met at a party, I waited till about 2pm the next afternoon to call. It worked out ok, we have been together 13 years now.

If you're just looking for some action, then without any additional info about the girl I'd say that your chances are maximized by waiting 3 or 4 days.

But I assume you're looking for more than that.

If you two have chemistry that can last longer than a night, when you call her after a New Years party isn't going to have any effect in the long-run. So

I'd call her the next day. Moan about your hangover, comiserate.

If you wait a few days then isn't she going to ask "What were you doing those days? Not thinking about me?" It's game playing and it's deceptive and not a good way to start.

Call her up.

I think it depends on how well you connected. If it was casual and you only talked for like 10 minutes you should wait longer, maybe 4 days. However you two REALLY liked each other you should call within 2 days so she knows you weren't just bullshitting her.

Call her Sunday to make plans to see her during the week. It is bad to get a girls number on Wednesday because you will have to wait a while to call. Calling a girl on a Fri or Sat is a no no. Those are your days to recruit more ;)

Btw now that I think about it, calling her Sunday will be 4 days after you got it. IMO 4 days is about right.

My friend got some girls number on New Year's Eve...there was a bit of making out and a little finger fucking on the dance floor.
Anyhow...she gave him her number and you know how long he waited.....
1 day. He called her, and said "Hey, I'm not gonna keep you from doing what you were doing, but I just wanted to make sure you got home ok."
Needless to say, she melted because he was so considerate....and they are doing something together tonight.

But every girl is different.

I didn't wait to call my current girlfriend after our first "date", only cause I knew I had some strong feeling for her, and felt that she had the same.

Well lets see. We connected pretty well, she actually approached me. We talked for about an hour (The last hour of 2003) then when new years hit I just looked over at her, she looked at me and we shared a very passionate new years kiss. We talked for about another 30 minutes then I walked her and her friend back to their cars.. talked and made out a little more. I told her I'd call her in a couple of days or so. And then that was it.

Okay, call her today, if you haven't already. Geez. If you had any kind of connection, you should have called her when you got home. Just freakin' call her today, not too desperate, but still showing interest.

gauge the girl and your initial interaction. The length of time you wait for calling is dependant on one thing only: How soon will she forget your face? If you call and she doesnt remember you, but only vaguely recalls meeting "someone", you've waited too long.

2-4 days is a safe average wait. But if you shared a strong connection, you could call the following day or even a week later. People say calling the day after smacks of desperation. Bullshit. Its what you say when you call that will indicate if you're desperate.

As long as you're not pulling a Jon Favreau move from the movie Swingers...and calling the girl 27 times (leaving messages each time to try and correct the horribly botched message from before), then I say call her right away!

Tell her the truth: you had a great time with her, and that you would really enjoy the chance to spend some more time together. Invite her to dinner, or to do something which interests both of you....

just call her the next day, early evening.

i was in the exact same situation in september as you are in now.

now i'm in a wonderful relationship with a girl who is head over heels in love with me, and the feeling's mutual :-)

yeah, I called her after 2 or this past friday. We went out saturday.. I'm not sure if it was a disaster or if things went well. Only time will tell on that one. Basicly she became ill and had to go. She actually got ill on the way to her car so either she's one hell of an actress and I got politly ditched, or things went fairly well (datewise) and i'll be seeing her again.

Holy cow all women should read this! I never knew there were such cut and dry rules for phoning! Just so you know....most women (not all, just most) think that if you don't phone right away you aren't interested. And if you wait too long then we assume that you are only phoning because you can't find anything more interesting. I'd say phone right away if you like the girl! It shows you want to get to know her better.

Game playing is bullshit. Call her when your interest strikes.

well, I've always been told by friends that if you call too soon afterwards then it means your desprate.. but if you wait too long then your not really interested..

So in light of that I've always stuck with the 48 hour rule.. it's not too long that they think your not interested.. but it's not too soon to make em think your desprate.. Those first impressions are such a bitch...

A week. Why do I say a week? Because she'll never expect you to wait that long.

The only people who will tell you to call right away are women, and well to be blunt, you shouldn't be listening to them. They don't have to deal with women and have no experience trying to date them. For romantic questions, sure, listen to the girl's advice... for interpreting their actions, sure, listen to the girl's advice... for getting them to like you, LISTEN TO PLAN9's ADVICE (and also the majority of the advice from the men on this board who have first hand experience on what works and what doesn't)!

On that note, i'd like to hear an update on what has happened since she ditched you. (sigh, i still can't believe you went out with her so soon :()
