dating tests
A little while ago, a friend of mine informed me of a test that guys do to tell if a girl is worth dating. When they open the car door for her, if she doesn't then lean over to the other door and unlock it for them, she is 'not datable'. I've never heard of this so-called test, but i'm interested to know if it's a common thought.
|
I don't do tests, but I am aware of the things that a girl does. If she is rude, superficial, or self-centered, I usually notice. Sometimes, if she is blindingly cute, I might be distracted by how she looks on the first date. You can't hide that stuff forever though.
|
That test is obsolete. These days car locks are automatic....if you unlock one door, they all unlock (at least in the 6 or so cars I have driven in the past 4 years).
|
I'd say that is a test for the women, if they are too poor to have automatic locks, the guy isn't worth dating :)
Only test I ever used was the research test for pre-med majors. When you are a pre-med major in college a simple test to check for gold diggers was as follows. You tell the girl you want to get a PhD instead and do University research. If she didn't try to change your mind she was worth dating seriously. |
I think itīs completely stupid apart from useless with you have a car with automatic locks. Iīm just curious as to the reasoning behind your friendīs test.
|
This was done in a film.. i'm thinking Carlito's Way, but i could be way off.... anyways some italian gangster film....
I think that tests do happen though like it or not. How else would people decide. Even when it's down to the 'well if she doesn't phone me back...' I'd consider that a test (even though it can state the obvious!) |
This is definitely Hollywood crap. It could be in a few movies but I remember it being from "A Bronx Tale". Automatic or manual aside, does this test sound reasonable at all?

that test comes from the movie bronz tale great flick stupid test

yes the test is stupid, but it does say something. I dont mean actually doing this "test" but watch the person you are out with. Is he/she polite, considerate, aware of things ( i.e. with this test she realized the car was locked and was thoughtful enough to help you out by unlocking your door ). Somewhere on the TFP I read a saying and I cant remember where so I cant give the appropriate credit in this quote
*quote from unknown* If someone is nice to you and rude to the waiter, they are not a nice person *end quote* Just my 2 cents. Happy New Year everyone. |
Yes, I use this test, and yes, something that simple shows a lot.
You can say auto-locks negates it, but it makes it even more powerful, how hard is it for her to reach 4 inches and push a button? It's not that it's whether or not she knows the test, it's simple as being considerate. It's the little things that show the most. |
I think that's bullshit. You cannot judge a whole character on some insignificant test. Everyone has their faults and not opening a car door is way, way down on my list. I would never use that on any girl. There are other ways of finding out how she is just by being with her.

Men and women test each other all the time. I don't see why this is such an issue. I agree that some tests are asinine. Something that one should consider is to take everything that you learn about the person during the first several dates and make a decision then. A single thing does not a whole person make ;)
|
It's a very good test.
If you are courteous enough to open the door, she should in return unlock yours. I have another test called the sandwich test. Ask a girl to make you a sandwich. If you get some bread and a piece of meat, then she is no good, but if you get a nicely crafted sandwich, maybe a pickle on the side, she has some potential. |
I, as well as the guys I know don't test....but if the woman is insensitive or massively self-centered then there usually isn't a second date.....however, the blindingly cute thing occasionally puts one by us for one or two additional dates....but never forever!

I have heard this and I actually considered it on some occassions.
|
See now I would never use that, forgetting that i have automatic locks, because it's too simple a thing to judge character on. She may space out, be thinking about something else, or maybe admiring the bulge in your pants, who knows?
I have always used the waiter/waitress bit as a factor, but not a single judgement. If she's all smiles to you, and is impolite to a service person, that says quite a lot about a person's character. |
If you need a test like that to validate if a girl is worth dating I think there are a lot more problems than the problem of continuing dating.
|
I always heard it called the "bitch test". If she doesnt open the door for you, then shes usually self centered and stuck up. Its excusable if shes doing something else at the moment, but its weird if shes just sitting there staring out the window. If she unllocks the door then it shows that shes thinking of you, or atleast really polite.
I've never used it as a test, but the results have usually been pretty accurate....i've always had better relationships with the girls that unlock the door. Oh yeh, I dont have any power lock BS. Because I drive a classic Mustang. :D |

Women have many more tests than men.
The standard male dating test: 1). Is she hot? 2). Will she sleep with me? If there is a "yes" to either question one or two, then she's dateable. |

Yeah, great sex with someone who is a basket case usually only makes a godo relationship for a month or two.

OK, here's the real test to see if someone is worth dating:
Step 1: Take her out on a date Step 2: Get back from the date Step 3: Decide whether or not you had fun, are compatible with her, and had an experience that you would want to repeat Step 4: repeat as necessary I feel bad for someone superficial enough to judge someone based on a door lock. Some things to look for that show a lot about personality: -How do they treat the waiter? -How do they treat your pets? -How so they treat you? -Do they hold the door for other people? |
