I think the key here is if your girl likes the smell of vanilla and you spray it around so things smell nice it shows that you have noticed something she enjoys and tried to put it into use for her benefit. That will make any girl more receptive. Knowing you care enough to do something just for her - That's a big turn on.

Whatever smell she likes - use it in your place. Just like the music she likes - have that playing. It's all a matter of thoughtfulness.
