Real stories of Online Love Matchig

I signed up for this online dating service thing, and was curious to see if anybody has had a wothwhile experience. Every person I looked at is either from Canada or Syndey.

Is this just a waste of time and how come eveerybody is doing it?

Averett 11-19-2003 09:36 AM

I signed up on one a bit over a year ago. I never had any intentions of meeting anyone, I was just bored and wanted to see what would happen.

I ended up getting a few emails, some were scary, some seemed okay. The one good looking guy who contacted me said something like "I'm not looking for a relationship but we could meet somewhere and have sex." Gee, thanks buddy.

Another guy knew a friend of a friend. That was weird. Band geek from a tech school. Yikes.

Third guy went to my high school, 2 years behind me. I didn't know him. He seemed the most normal until he started going into vegeterian and political rants. And when I said Ididn't want to meet him he said I was just scared because I wanted to fuck him so badly. Uhhh yeah, that was it. It had nothing to do with the fact that he was an asshole.

I myself am signed up to (quite a few) online dating services, nothing good has come of it so far, but that's my age again (19).
One of my friends met his current girlfriend through an online dating services though, they have been together for more that a year and a half now.

A friend sent an email requesting her friends sign up for this thing called Friendster, which I am sure you have all heard of by now. I signed up not knowing what it was really and in a couple of days I got word that a friend of a friend of a friend thought I was cute. Well, a few emails later and we meet. Things have been stupendous since that first date. The internet can be a handy tool for meeting like-minded people... cute, sexy, funny, and loving ones too!

i figure to do that when i use up all the good local guys... ehehehehehehe

I've been with my online g/f for a year an a half now, and still counting.

Didn't meet her on a service though, we just.... met...

Good luck, you're braver than I.

Hmmmm...online dating is something that I've never considered...I don't think that I'll ever use it though.

I met my guy thru an online "personals" service and I have never been more happy in my life....and fortunately he's actually single, has a great job and treats me like a princess....kinda hard to get used to that after some of the jerks I've dated....We are planning to get married

wilbjammin 11-20-2003 01:16 PM

If you're going to go the online route, then I'd suggest that if you find someone that you like you try to meet earlier than later. Falling in love with someone online and then finding out that they made themselves into something much more than they really are is not a good thing. This harkens back to a story I heard a few months ago that a man in the army had 50 women simulataneously agree to marry him from dating services they used online. Some had spoken to him on the phone, but none had met him in person.

Be careful, is what I'm saying. It is much easier to lie and get away with it online.

oh, come on. we all know women love to fuck assholes.

anyways, i've signed up for a few, they're fun to surf through when bored at work. but i'm not willing to spend any money on it, so i have no intention of actually meeting someone through one.

heheh...thats some funny stuff averett.
As for the whole online dating- I met my current boy on the internet...not in a matchmaker site or anything. Kinda like numist- we just met, and I couldnt be happier or imagine my life without him. Just be careful.... and not too trusting, cause there is definitly creeps out there.

My wife (3 years and counting) and I met through online personals, so yes, online meeting can work pretty much the same as meeting anywhere else.

It was really difficult to find people under age 75 in this area, so online was the way to go.

oscar0308 11-24-2003 09:42 AM

i also met my wife online but not thru the personals either. my buddy got me going on some webcam community and one evening i popped into her room and we hit it off. she says i stuck out even though there were 20 guys in her channel... and it wasnt physical cause i didnt have my cam on. its now been 3 yrs and we are married and have a 7 month old child together and am still as madly in love with her now as i was the say we finally met in person.

it can work.. dunno how.. but it can.

Hey...what's wrong with Canadians?!?! :hmm: Just kidding!
I thought about signing up with one but well, I figured if I'm too busy (single mom w/kids) to get out and have a real social life then how the heck can I expect to online?
I've met some great people through the net (here and other places) that I would consider getting to know better but I'm still to shy (I guess) to put my name and stats in some data-base and go through the whole dating process.
*sigh*

I met my hubby online, although not through a dating service, it was a support chat room. Just be careful and trust your instincts :)

I met my wife online too but again not through an online service , through a message board much like this one.

There's been at least 10 marriages and 4 children (naturally the most georgeous of these is mine own) & everybocy else dates a lot.
