Perfection in imperfection
Is it just me or do others love imperfections in people. I can’t stand airbrushed photos; the minute imperfections of the skin, the face are the sexiest things in the world. A lady friend of mine is missing a bit of her upper eyelashes (right eye) and I find it to be beautiful, and I don’t know why.
Well I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and it is definitely beauty to me. Any one else have similar feelings? |
i totally agree... a natural imperfect face is beautiful... i get tired of the the whole airbrush thing... seems to be used way too much these days...
you might think that the eyebrow woman has a good personality as well... and that can make you think its sexy on her.. yet you see someone that you dont know with the same imperfection.. and you may not be as attracted to it... jus a theory.. |
Yeah, I knew a girl with the oddest shapped nose I have ever seen. It was odd, but hot at the same time.
|
Hehehe just hope there are no imperfections in her personality <:
|
Kinda like freckles. I don't think they are an imperfection per se, but they can be cute as hell on some girls. One girl I know was just average in all other traits but her freckles really stood out to me and induced a desire for her.
|
well i have lots of those imperfections...
Not that I still dont try and hide them all.... I like imperfections in guys... I like how imperfect one certain part is.... heheheeheh one large hard imperfect part hehehehehe |
As you said Dilbert 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder' My fiancee may not be 'perfect' to the worlds standards, but she IS perfect to me.. and I love her soo much for it.. hehe :D

...i dont see perfection in imperfection all the time...well atleast not in betty friedan's case....looks like a man fighting for womans rights rather then a woman fighting for womens rights... |
Imperfection in perfection is great.... down right ugliness aint!!
|
heh yeah but sometimes you have to look past the surface.
|
I definately agree. its always about the little things as far as I'm concerned. its what makes people unique and beautiful.
|
I agree as well.
I actually don't like it when a smile looks too perfect. In fact, unless your teeth are messed up in a way that it actually interfers with speaking or something like that, I say leave it how you were born. I prefere how it looks. |
imperfect perfection is nice, if its a little thing.
perfection is impossible to find, when I find it, Im too often let down by its artificiality, all it really is is a societal norm. When you have someone who is damn near perfect, the minor flaws become that much more endearing. A lot of girls need to understand this before they starve themselves to death and drown in makeup. |
We are human beings.
And as such, we are not perfect. Not a single one of us. What makes us different is what makes us beautiful. And interesting. On the surface and below. If we had no faults, we would be gods. And gods don't have sex. A negative number is still a number. It's all in how you look at it. The sum of all the parts is what makes a person what they are. If you love a person, you love the whole person. You can't love a left eyebrow and not the right. |
Gods have faults.
Trust me... I fell in love with Artemis. :( I guess that means I have faults too! yay!(???) Well, in any event, I find that I appreciate the differences in people more than the similarities generally. Or at least, I see beauty in the subject (important note - I said subject not object). |
wow. I'm glad to see another person who sees beuaty in inperfection.
I wounder why that is? |
It's because you like humans... not some fake bullshit. :)
It isn't beauty in imperfection that you like. It's beauty in beauty. In that I mean, we like what we are born to like what we like, not what a computer makes. I'm with you. Beuaty is Beauty. |
beauty is beauty
i like that, you dont mind if i use it right? its nice and consise |
it depends. imperfections on a physical level can be endearing. imperfections on a character/personality level can drive me up the walls insane.
|
Freckles are sexy. Just check out Nigella Lawson. They're subtle, but they're there.
|
yeah freckles are sexy
|
I'd like to challenge the very notion of perfection. It assumes that there's one ideal, one standard (or a range of acceptable standards), and everything else is a flaw. Diversity in form is not just evolutionarily healthy, it's INTERESTING! Look at...say...Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox. Both very beautiful women, both held up as standards for other women. Which is "more" perfect? Or, I see a tall skinny guy with an interesting face and geeky glasses, and a buff-looking guy with blond hair and a vapid if "perfect" face, and I know who I find endearing. But who's more perfect? Even if you say perfection is in the eye of the beholder, we didn't pull it out of nowhere. It comes from seeing certain ideals held up and rewarded. Falling into the trap of seeking perfection in ourselves or others is, IMHO, a fast way to lose a small piece of our humanity.
I didn't really answer the question but I imagine you can guess what my reply is :) |
A girl I know (won't give more info, lest she'd be offended) has a condition where some parts of the skin on her body have lost pigment, so she has perfectly white patches in places on her body. I find it to be absolutely beautiful. They are who she is, and she'd not be who she is without them. They're wonderful to look at.
|
I find some imperfections attractive, while others are not. It really depends.
|
"Love is not finding the perfect person, but learning to see an imperfect person perfectly."
-Sam Keen was always one of my favorite quotes, in fact, I carried around in my wallet for about three years before I gave it to a friend of mine who needed it more. |
A wise friend of mine told me "the only true perfection is loving yourself exactly as you are."
|
i live for that idea.
I dotn want someoen who is perfect or agrees with me. i want a challange, i want to be challanged to think differently and analyze myself and appreciate what is and ISNT there. Makes (keeps) everything interesting. |
My bf has some marks on his face, like, permanent ones that were made from burns and cuts and scars when he was little... they make these little never-go-away indents in his face, and I think they are absolutely beautiful... there's just something about them being there that really give his face something different that nobody else has.

Imperfections are what makes the world beautiful. A world with everything being the same and perfect would be dull, boring, and ugly, not beautiful... It's kind of like some newer subdivisions where the homeowner's association has complete control over everything in the neighborhood. Every house is the same color. Every yard is perfect. Everything is the same, and it's all dull, boring, and ugly. Beauty, in everything, is in the imprefections, not perfection. |
there's beauty in everything, you just have to look for it.
|
I know what you mean. Like Josie's scar, is sexy as hell.
|
Airbrushing has got to stop. Too bad it never will. :(
(although hopefully we're at it's peak usage right now, and things will be better for a while. ... ... yeah right!) |
yea if a girl has on tons of make up on i find that less attractive than a girl who looks natural
|
Perfection in imperfection is why we are all uniquely beautiful.

Perfection is an abstract word. Someone might say that being chubby is an 'imperfection,' whereas another guy might say 'WOO! That chubby chick is a hottie!' Same for anything else. It's an opinion, so we all love another's imperfections...
|
I feel that imperfections are what make a person special. I love the way certain things make my SO stand out.
Perfection is overrated. |
Not that another opinion is needed, it seems unanimous.. But yeah, imperfectons are great, they make the difference between hot and beautiful.

Perfection is Relative, as are all things.
Architecture. I just bought a perfectly beautiful modern new 3 bedroom home in SF, it took the place of an old run down house. The house, while run down, was loved by the neighborhood because of its gardens and butterflies. My neighbors don't see a beautiful building, they see a monstrosity that has taken away something they loved. Cindy Crawford has a mole that disrupts the symmetry of her beauty. Some would say it makes her more beautiful, others might be disgusted by it. |
