Matters of the Dreamscape...

I may have mentioned it a while back in some thread or another, but I've had what could be called a "terminal crush" on a girl here at school for a while now. Two weekends ago I apparently danced with her for a bit (I blacked out from alcohol consumption, so I don't remember a thing; thus, the "apparently"), and she had a good time. Great. Only when I'm blitzed do I have the sack to approach her.

Anywhoo, the other day her Little Sis (familial hierarchies of a sorority... bleh) imparted to me some earth-shattering information: she dreamed about me.

It may go without saying that my best friend and I jumped around hugging and shouting for a good three minutes, giddy as schoolgirls told they could be cheerleaders.

After the celebration, we sat down to discuss. I contend that dreams are inconsequential; we don't know where they come from, much less what impulses control them. It could very well be that the shirt I was wearing the day before struck her in some manner, and thus she had a dream about the shirt, and I just happened to be wearing it.

He holds that dreams can be very valuable in mapping a personality, and that by showing up in her dreams, it shows that I had been on her mind, her emotional radar, so to speak. He backs this up with what she told her Little Sis; not "I had the weirdest dream," not "I dreamed about a party," or some such, but rather "I dreamed about Quinn."

I could probably dissect the situation in a heart beat, were it not for the fact that it has deep personal relevance. For this reason my analysis tends to be on the cautious side...

What do you folks think? Should I take that as a cue to approach her when not blazingly inebriated, or should I accept it as mere happenstance?

I think it's less significant that she had such a dream, and more significicant that she found it important enough to discuss with someone. I'm sure she dreams about many people -- why would she want to talk about you? That's the important question for me.

You should have talked to her after the party when you danced with her!!!

Find her, talk to her, ask her out. My god man, you're in college! Live it up!

Seriously, talk to her. If she says no, there's another girl around the corner to crush on

Just for clarification, after the party I was very, very drunk. I probably would have done more harm than good.

Look, whether or not it's a "sign" is completely immaterial. SAY it's a sign. MAKE it into a sign.

One night our freshman year in college, lurkette and I shared a dream. When we woke up, we described it to each other, and described how we both knew the other was there in the dream.

Did it "MEAN" something? Probably not. Coincidence and the random firing of neurons. But it has become a really important touchstone in our relationship because we TURNED IT INTO something. Ya dig?

Speak for yourself, hon. I still think it was fate

I agree that it's less significant that she dreamed about you than that she thought it was significant enough to mention it.

Use this as the opportunity you need to summon up some balls and go talk to the girl! Don't mention the dream (weird) but just keep that as a little talisman of confidence in the back of your head.

What have you got to lose talking to her? Either she likes you and Woohoo!!!! or she doesn't like you that way and you move on. Either way it has to be better than hanging out in limbo thinking WAY too much. Go do something about it!!!

dont put to much stock in dreams, it is where your mind procces the days thoughts, strange thing creep into dreams, and can be so abstract that what it may seem to hint at is nothing like wht it is.

People dream about each other all the time. Girls talk to each other about all kinds of little details.

So ask her out, already. Make the potentially inconsequential into the consequential, while the iron is still hot for striking.

Hey, maybe she didn't dream about you at all, but got her sis to tell you she did, so you would get up and ask her out!
Typical girl trick - she wants you!
