one time this girl that i really liked was sitting on my lap. i tried so hard not to get a boner because it would be impolite, and i succeeded at this task. then life went on and i never ended up hooking up with this girl. i often wonder what if i did pop a boner with her on my lap? would she have then known how much i wanted her, and then we might have hooked up?

what are the rules for boners and girls on your lap. if you're a girl and a guy you are just friends with gets a boner while you are on his lap, uhm.. what goes on in your mind?

I don't run into platonic lap-sitting much.

Some girls love knowing they turn the guy on, others don't. Basically, when I'm close with a female & I get a boner, I don't try and hide it. If it's jabbing them, oh well. Some of them are turned on by that.

i think any reasonable girl who knows about guys should know that it's a natural reaction, and either take it as a compliment or exit the lap without incident. they should know that it doesn't mean it's trying to get to you, it's stimulated by the pressure on the groin area. Hopefully 99% of the teen-adult female public knows what sitting on a guys lap will do to him. She'll either: 1) Feel complimented, 2) Exit lap, or 3) someone you probably don't need to be thinking about in romantic fashions because they refuse to ack involuntary human reaction.

If a girl sits on your lap, she knows what she's doing. And I, like many of the other girlies here, don't sit on a guy's lap if it's purely platonic. Don't bother hiding it. If she's sitting on your lap, she's wanting the attention.

The other side of this is when you are with a crowd of people and you all decide to go some where and there aren't enough seats in the car for everyone. Hopefully you get to have some hot fox sit in your lap while you are enroute to your destination. The motion of the car and the motion of her body could be very stimulating. Who knows what could pop up between you. If she turns to you and smiles, you might just get lucky later.

Maybe I said it indirectly, but I'd like to take this moment to say that I do sit on platonic friends' laps. I also hold hands and cuddle with platonic friends.

2 people occupying the same space need to consider the consequences. If she puts her ass right on your crotch instead of sitting on your legs, she has to expect she may get speared.

While this can work in some platonic friendships, I think in 9 out of every 10 cases, it would be "hello from mixed signals land".

Okay, I'm tired, I've been up for a long time today.

I have a couple of platonic relationships involving rather "friendly" girls, although at first it started off confusing we all know where we stand and there is generally no surprises. As for the boner, it's a compliment dammit.

I agree. There are several ways that you could interpret cuddling or lap sitting from a female friend, and all of them are very uncomfortable if the relationship is staying platonic. At least at first.

A few years ago at work I had two girls (coworkers) sitting on my lap and playing with my hair and I was battling with myself to not get an embarrassing hard on... turns out one of them was interested in me and they were convinced I was gay for almost a week. I had to prove her wrong!

I just tell them that I'm very comfortable, and it may get a little TOO comfortable and I wink. They get the drift, they know what's going on, and either stay (hawt) or smile and exit if it's completely platonic.

It's damn hard to tell sometimes (particuarlly when you dont know the girl very well) wether she's just being cudlly and friendlly or naughty and very friendlly.
