I'll jump in from a male perspective. Hell yeah, we all knew it was platonic. Lap sitting, hugging, standing arm-in-arm, backrubs. We were a close circle of friends in college, but we were just casual friendly with each other. I was dating the same girl the whole way through college (now my wife), and neither of us had a problem with casual friendliness. Sex with friends would have been a whole 'nother matter.

I have gotton hard with a freind of mine setting in my lap that i woul dhad loved to shagged back then. I know she had to have felt it and she squermed around a bit no me but we were in school at the time. Great topic. I remember one time me and a group of friends were sitting around smoking/drinking and one girl (kind of a huge slut... not that it really matters I guess) was sitting on my asshole friend's lap. After awhile she casually gets up and says "I have to move. I can't stand Gerard's boner poking into me anymore." It was pretty funny and he had nothing to say to that. I had trouble with that once, but I knew the girl wasn't a tease or anything and I hid it. Now with my girlfriend it doesn't matter. Up, down, to the side, it's all good.
