girls on TFP
why do "some" girls on TFP always reply to threads about sex and relationships?
Are these the only things they think about? Are not the philosphical viewpoints of others that important? Do thoughts of the unknown not stimulate their minds? What do YOU think?

i respond because its an aspect of my life that is, well, part of my life. women are social creatures. often times, they build themselves around their relationships with other people. it's evolutionary in the sense that men were the hunters and women were the social gatherers who tended to their children.

I dont theres anything odd about it... women are just better at some things and men are just better at others... sex is an emotional/physical thing and thank god we have women in here to talk about the emotional aspects, cause otherwise we'd only get half the story in here...
now if they start only posting in the MOtors forum... or, mebbe I've just had too much to drink, but I havent noticed anything uncool going on and I welcome a womans opinion on sex

I don't think it really matters. Different people get different things out of TFP. I'm around and working with computers all the time and the last thing I want to do on TFP is look at the computer forum. I don't mean to imply that the ladies who predominantly post in the sexuality forum are sex deprived though; that's probably far from the case. Maybe they get their dose of philosophy from other sources like school or work. Or you could be right that some of them don't have much interest in it. Whatever the case may be, I don't care at all where people choose to post the most or least as long as their posts are meaningful.

social double-standard keeps many women from saying, acting, what they feel, because they fear being labelled a slut, prude, etc. It's the same one that prevents so many from expressing interest in sex in person. I dont really think there is that much of a sexual imbalance... i've always felt as though both sexes were thoroughly represented here.

wow riptide. as a female, that post just, well... pisses me off! Just because a woman has an interest in emotions, relationships and the like, doesn't mean they're not intelligent or enjoy stimulating their minds, and the fact you suggest it seriously ticks me off. That's like my looking around, and saying "gee... there's a lot fo men who only post in the sports forums. they must not like having intelligent conversation" I know that's not true, and you should know that your assumptions aren't true, either.

i agree it was a little misguided. and emotional/relationship things i think are intelligent on a different level. in fact, emotions/relationships stimulate my mind. and there's nothing wrong with that

Frankly, I am with cheerios in the fact that your statements are meant to infuriate. But, now that you've had a few answers to your queries, I would hope you can see how a question like this could cause such disdain. |

I havnt been posting here too terribly long, nor do I know very many of the girls that post here. But I think thats a very generalized and shallow statement. If I have a problem with something female oriented I would *rather* get help from a female...

riptide I guess maybe your thinking that this thread was not a good idea now??
I respond to everything and anything. If I am interested in the topic I will say something. I think I will stop there and agree with all that the girls said before me. They summed it up. |

Wow. This truly is an open forum.
I have seen some of the most intelligent and well researched answers come from female members. Instead of raising a question like this why not read some of their posts and I think you'll find your answers.

I LIKE it that the ladies feel comfortable enough to express their opinions here. I've been on too many boards that stifle that ideal.

Althouhg it's pretty much said and done, i'll add this as well.
Most of time, the threads in here relating ot relationships etc are about heterosexual couples coming from a male standpoint, so it's quite apt that females reply to these topics as they are more empathetic of the ways girls think, act etc in the given situations. i hope this thread doesn't stop any females from further posting here |

Geez, talk about a prudish post. Do you really think it's such a bad thing, in a forum populated almost exclusively by males, that some females care enough to post their thoughts about sex?
Sex isn't a one-way street, after all.

I think the girls pretty much summed it up already. And seriously, if you've got a problem with girls talking about sex, imagine what it'd be like if we DIDN'T share our opinions and thoughts. And apparently since there are so many questions about sex posted here by men, I'd say that you could consider sex part of the 'unknown' that you were talking about.

Whoa! Sorry ladies, I made this post when I was drunk and pissed off.
Jadzia: yeah, I look at the titty board and tilted exhibition, but I don't go to tilted sexuality ALL the time. it was a stupid argument I brought up and from all of the replies I can see that I made a lot of women upset. but at least I know now what to do to get a lot of replies!!!!!

Lots of things interest me.I post in topics here in TFP Sexuality because unlike many web forums this board is mature.I feel comfortable discussing things of an intimate nature here, far more than I ever could in real life.I just hope that at some point my POV can benefit another member as much as I've benifitted from my participation here.
