Scrub a dub dub.
This is the cure for ingrown hair anywhere. Scrub! Scrub hard! Get a mesh sponge thingy for the shower and scrub away.

I can't say that I have ever had an ingrown hair.
Is there anyway of preventing them from happening? What causes them to become ingrown? I don't want an ingrown pube hair...I keep mine trimmed pretty short. Thanks.

Sometimes they just happen. It's just because the hair has a hard time breaking through the surface. So if you make sure to scrub your skin really well, the skin stays smooth and it's easier for the hair to come though.
I've never had one in that area.... I get a few every now and again on my legs.

isn't that how pimples form? when a hair folicule gets blocked and all this gunk builds up or something?
and then gets infected?? Anyway, Averett has the idea, if you have some kind of scrubbing brush or rough sponge you can break the top layers of skin off. Using some kind of exfoliation stuff probably would work as well, although i haven't had a chance to use anything like that since my sister moved out about a year ago girls seem to buy and have lots of fabulous beauty products although i am yet to get anything my self, other than my trusty papaw cream which can be used for everything on your skin! |

On a point of clarification: I do use the scrubby mesh thing in the shower, occasionally shave with a (new blade) razor and generally keep trimmed.
Also its not in the zone more like at the juncture of thigh and groin.

tweeze em to get rid of em.
prevention? shave in direction of hair growth and put some good lotion on a few hours after. but u'll still likely get a few. and check the shaving thread at the top of the forum. *edit* invest in a good tweezer if you don't have one. Tweezerman brand is the best.

lotion lotion lotion after scrub-a-dub dub. You'll find that soaking in a hot bath will also soften the skin up some more.. They're a minor annoyance and not-so-lovely to look at, but not unusual or a result of poor hygene. once you got it, soak in hot water for a while, scrub it, and head for the tweezers. (I hate tweezers, so I use a long sewing needle, but whatever)
