How young is too young?
 

The thread about the 10- and 11-year olds being prostituted got me thinking. First of all, let me say that 10 and 11 IS TOO YOUNG!!!! OK, that said, the Net is replete with Barely Legal, and Teens Galore, etc., etc., etc. So, apparently all are agreed that 18 is as young as you should go. But, a lot of the pictures fuel the fantasy of girls who are younger than 18. So, how young is too young fellas?

To be fair, I'll answer my own question. (And at the risk of sounding like a pervert.) Teen pics are definitely a turn-on for me. The young body, smooth skin, innocent looks... And the fact that the legal age is set at 18 seems to remove the guilty feelings of looking at girls that are so much younger than me. But honestly, I've been to the mall and seen girls who I know are 16, but look HOT! Even girls who are 14 seem to be looking good these days, but girls' fashion is very revealing these days. Now, I'm DEFINITELY not saying I'd have sex with a 14-year old girl. (Don't come hunting me down just yet!) I'm NOT into kiddie porn. But, is that where things are heading, what with Tiffany Teen and whatnot?

evidently urbanization(indoor lights,hormones in food) is having effects on women's biology nowadays. it used to be that menstration started at 14 or 15 now its common at 11 or 12 so the women are maturing faster evidently. there are alot of girls out there that are genetically equivalent to 18 year olds at 16. there is no way tell how mature they actually are so we slapped on the 18 limit(it's lower in other countries and states though i think). I'm not supportive of underage sex however especially since there is too many dumb people out there.

16 is the age in which girls can consent to sex in Australia, so that'd be it for me. Although i am 19, almost 20, so thats getting a little dodgy, although depends on how mature they are. Also, some 14 year olds do look hot and a lot older, although i wouldn't sleep with one cause i couldn't live with myself and also its against the law (here and i imagine everywhere else). Although, remember girls mature quicker than boys.

Does statutory rape still count as rape? If so, i've been raped before :p in the eye of the law. I am not trying to trivialise rape, but i found that funny, when i learned that guys age was set to 18 to consent to sex.

Girls are maturing too fast now, IMO. I wasnt thinking sex at all at 14, 15, 16. Maybe I'm just weird, I dunno. 14, 15 is too young. Sure, it all depends on the person. But when I hear about a person (boy or girl) having sex before the age of 16, I cringe.

They have to be at least 18, AND reasonably mature.

Anything below 18 is too young, 18 is around the age you stop growing, therefore I'd say that is the age that girls are ready.

And johnny I think many women have smooth skin and innocent looks, they don't have to be 16 or 17. Sure it's not too common but hey it's something you can set your eye on

Girls these days are dressing and acting much older than they are. I was fooled at a wedding when I thought this girl was 20, when she was actaully 14. Now I was with my wife, and we were guessing her age together, to see if we were right, and we were both way off. 18 is the legal age, and I'm sticking to that answer. Of course that chances for me to be with an 18 yr old is none, since I want to stay married and all.

I'm 25, and under the right circumstances I could go as low as 17. As long as she's out of high school

It's strange that, as I've seen children grow into women, I can't get the fact that I saw them as babies out of my mind.

So while the fantasy answer is 18, the reality of it is I would likely draw the line around 30.

I think 15 is too young. Hands-down. But 16 is where maturity can play a large role in whether or not it's ok. Of course, depending on local law, that may or may not be illegal- remember not everyone lives in the US, and ages are different all over the world.

It's called that because it's defined as sexual relation with someone who's not yet the statutory age of consent. It basically means that just because you didn't force it, and they wanted it, you still can't do it. They're not "old enough" to make that decision for themselves.

I know of 14 year olds that look like 18 year olds. They are fully "developed" if you know what I mean. 16 would be a safe age, but if you are under 20 than 15 isn't too bad. It's pretty much a matter of how old the guy is. If he is like 17, than 14 year old girls are ok (i'd say 14 is the cut, younger than that and they aren't even in high school). If the guy is like 25 then anything under 18 is just wrong. But for some reason, a 40 year old man and a 20 year old woman is seen as normal and accepted in society.

They are too young when you start worrying that they might be too young. 18 is my lowest limit. I'm going to be 25 next month.. No piece of ass is worth getting pounded in my own.

The age for consesual sex is 15 in Denmark, where I live. Now, I'm 23, so I'd definitely have to think long and hard (no pun intended) about it before having sex with someone that young. But given that right set of circumstances(if I were convinced she knew what she was doing, she wasn't drunk/high/etc...) I'd probably go that low. But honestly I don't know... Under the legal limit is definitely too young. That's why the legal limit is there... BTW I agree with all the above points about how younger girls are developing earlier these days...

They may be developing faster physically, but I think mentally they are still immature. Thats my 2 cents.

The simple fact that my <i>daughter</i> just turned 16 last month should give some indicaton of what <i>my</i> answer to that question would be. Although...I will confess to having to do a double take at some of the girls that she goes to school with. And here all this time I thought that the school had a dress code.

I honestly can't give a specific age, but I will say that girls these days are maturing far faster. There was a time when you could look at a girl and say with reasonable certainty that she was legal or not. Now it's almost impossible. It is to the point now where a guy should ask to see ID before going any further, just to protect himself.

Mentally, wow.. that's tough to gauge. How does one set a bar for mental maturity? I have seen 20 year olds far less mature than some 15 year olds, and some 15 year olds that act their age. It's an impossible question I am afraid.

If I had a daughter, I am sure it would be different, but 16 would probably be a good age. However, I don't think that a 30 or 40 year old person should be taking on a 16 year old.

Age is just a number, even if the number is underage. I think in our society's sexually-drenched media and entertainment girls and boy are growing up a lot faster now since they are exposed to these things a lot sooner.

Children are being made into sex objects...children see these examples and emulate them. My kid watched a couple of teen singer's vids like Britney, etc. and at the age of 6 she dressed up in some new clothes we'd gotten for school and did a little dance where at the end she bent over and smacked her behind suggestively. She was informed that wasn't appropos behavior for her age but I had to explain why because I always hated "because I said so" as a kid.

She isn't allowed to watch adult channels, and I see things like this on Nick sometimes. Little girls are being turned into sex objects as young as possible now to sell products to other little girls who want to be grown ups. All of this has a snowball effect on sexual maturity.I also think hormones in food are a factor. I see alot of girls who are young with large breasts more than I did at that age. One time I saw a cute girl who looked about 15 and I thought in a couple three years she'd be dating material. She turned out to be 11 :(. I was flabbergasted as she had about a C cup and looked very much like 15 year olds I lusted after when I was 15 myself.

Girls are no longer girls, they are young women who know as much about sex or more than their parents. Most females I have personally know had sex by the age of 14 at the latest and a couple had it at 12 the first time! I didn't get laid until I was 18.

Do I say it's all open season then? No. I think that if a girl (16+) can handle a relationship with a man (18+) and they make no attempt to cover it up and the parents are ok with the man then it makes no difference. I have seen a couple parents who have done just this and both times the man was open with them and met them and didn't try to hide away. In one case they learned to trust him (he was about 24 at the time, she was just 17) and let her go with him on weekends. It can work if maturity is involved, and I think a lot of teen girls can benefit from the stability and experience of an older man, provided he is mature and stable.

The key words here are maturity and consent, which no law can accurately predict the level of maturity of any given person. I still think there should be ages of consent as a kind of blanket protection but they should not be any higher than 16. 16 year olds these days are the same in the ways of sex as 21 year olds 15 years ago.

I agree with tinfoil. 16 should be a good age. It's crazy that they charge kids who are both under 18 (but over 16) with statutory rape. Hell, most of us would wind up being charged. If they can charge, as an adult, kids as young as 15 with murder, they should allow 16 year olds to have sex. Anything under 16 is off limits.

If the two of us would look like a normal couple to a stranger, I think its ok (as long as she's mentally fine). I'm still young enough that some technically underage girls could fit this description.

This discussion reminds me of all the fantasies I had when I was 12 or so. If only some ~20 y/o woman would have "raped" me :p.

I just graduated from highschool this year.. and most of the freshmen girls looked like seniors or older.. I mean wtf. And it sucks being 18 now.. because in the eye of a lot of people if I look at girls around 16 like that I'm a perv and could be arrested if anything happened.. really sucks.

I was 15, and it only lasted 2 years in spite of everything being amazing. We was too young. I couldn't support a family. Our personalities were still changing radically. I didn't understand life. I'd say when I was 21 I was ready to start.

I'd want to be with a lady who was mature and able to cope with life cheerfully. Someone who was "clothed in strength and dignity, smiling at the future." The youngest woman I've met that struck me as possessing these qualities was 19.

I think it's a question of psychological maturity, a maturity that I think happens after 17/18.

The situation on age vs sexuality is amazing. How young can a girl be to be "hot"? Well, let's say Catherine Zeta Jones... if she was 14 and looks like she does now, I think I'd probably be looking at jail time, if presented an opportunity to indulge in that physical pleasure.. But if she opened her mouth and sounded like a twit, like MANY 14 year olds, and plenty of 18 year old girls have.. It'd be all off.

It really is based on maturity from an emotional standpoint. The problem is that is terribly subjective. As a result, SOME kind of law was put in place to protect the more vulnerable. The only way to give that law an OBJECTIVE measurement was to use the age.

If we go back in time a few years, most all of us would find that our grandmothers or great grandmothers were married pretty young by today's standards. It was perfectly acceptible, if not expected back then to have your 14 year old daughter married off...

Why not today? Well, Society and education are far more complex. Our lives are governed by so much more now that it takes longer to prepare our children to function in society. It takes longer to socialize them, longer to educate them, and longer for them to mature to the point where they actually can leave home. The problem is that physiologically, they are "ready" for sex at the same time as they ever were. (yes, around 14-ish) <uh, coach says if there's grass on the field it's playable>

It makes for some difficulty, especially when our religious values are set up the way they are... Is it REALLY reasonable to believe that we can keep kids from doing what comes naturally? Especially if they start getting the "urge" at 14 and don't get married until 25 or so??? That is not a terribly well considered prospect, christian or not.

What do I find hot?? Honestly? I prefer a more mature woman (always have). I like them with some experience, so they know what they like, and are willing to share that with me. :-)

everyone is saying now a days, kids are maturing faster. i hafta agree and disagree. they maybe maturing faster then say 30-40 years ago but if we remember our history, back in the 1700s, it was very common for 14 year old girls to get married. No, not to teen age old boys, but old farts that are around 40-60 years old. This wasnt just in the 1700s, this happened way before and continued, in some places, for atleast another 200 years. Granted, life expectancy was shorter in the past and giving birth was a serious health risk, but the fact that old geezers were marrying very young girls and having them bare their children still remains.

but answering the question by applying it to myself: i personally like girls that are around my age, very close in age actually. i can talk to older women and younger girls just fine but i think i connect much better, socially and emotionally, to females that are about my age.

it's weird as i'm getting older to realise how yougn these kids are. i'm 19. and i can remember being 13, thinking in a very sexual way, and wanting guys. i would have thought at the time that i could have handled sex if i had met what i thought was the right guy, i'm sure. but now i think of that age and it's just unreal. i have a guy friend who looks a lot younger than he is (20) and he's always being approached by like 15 and 16 year olds. but it's weird for him, cause you know in your head that they're just kids but some of them are really hot. i always wonder how much weirder it would get as we get older. this was a really entertaining forum, thanks. but for all those people who comment and say that they don't have to say anything, i don't see why you bothered to comment.

Sorry to include the whole original post here, but I have a very intereseting story that is right in line with this topic.

First of all I feel the whole age thing is individual in that I think it really is based upon your moral issues with it, as well as your local laws. (READ: I am not condoning sex with a person under the legal age!.. ) I am just saying that not every state (or country for that matter) Have the same legal age requirements... I highly reccommend looking into that before persuing anything further.

That said, It really depends (In my opinion) on the mental state (maturity) of the two involved.

I was in a situation recently where I was approached by a young lady who had definate interest in me. She had just moved back in with her mother (my neighbor) and every now and again we talk and flirt a little. Not knowing her age at the point, I was thinking she was of "Legal age". (I thought she was in her early twenties.) So naturally being a guy, I would kinda make little comments to her in a flirtatious sort of way, and then one evening she sorta called me on it.

I was shocked, as well as flattered.. I couldn't help but think wow she is actually interested in persuing something!? I am in my 30s mind you, and when the opportunity presented it's self again, I asked her how old she was.. she was 17! 17!!! I was like oh! man! (the little devil in me started to whisper in my ear..) I was like - um, yea, not gonna happen... This gal was very mature for her age not only physically but mentally as well. she is finishing up school, was working two jobs, One of which was with the local fire dept. In further conversations on the subject, she assured me that the legal age of consent for my state was 17.. I was like ya whatever... I looked it up, and yes sure enough, it is! She had mentioned she is interested in older men she was recently dating someone in his mid twenties, but they had broken up. I told her my age and then re-emphesized it again, and she was totally fine with it. She said She was still interested in meeting up one night when her mother was off to work. (My jaw about hit the floor.)

About a week later, I saw her again, and she came over and asked me to leave my front door open that night.. I was like Huh? she told me again, and I was like.. OK. will do. I thought about it all evening. and Frankly I was excited. I think it was the "every man's dream" aspect of it, needless to say I did leave the door open. I wanted to call her bluff.... I won't go into who's bluff was called.. ahem.. :hmm:

On a side note, I saw her the other day and she mentioned to me that she has met someone her age and they are "hanging out" now.. Whew!

Um... I'm 22. I've never dated a girl over the age of 19. Now, that was all well and good when I was 16-20. But now that I'm over the age of 21 and mostly go to places that are 21 and up it's getting really hard to date anyone younger then 21. Needless to say I still won't go any younger then 19.
