Teachers on TFP?
I know our situation is particularly difficult, but, how do those of you who are high school and grade school teachers deal with the potential for exposure for doing and saying "naughty" things online?
edit: fixed your title for ya :) |
Im not a teacher, but damn if hes cute and single..and horny. Im there...*message me* LOL -jk
Honestly though, i doubt that there will be a lot of true responses to your question, though it does make me wonder about other people who have to be careful where they tread..like a policeman perhaps or lol like a Senior naval officer, I think it was, who was caught looking at porn in BC,Canada or something like that. At least he admitted it. |
I was a teacher for 13 years. I quit 3 years ago. Whenever I was doing something online that I didn't want anyone to know about I used one of several nicknames that no one knew about. I set up accounts on hotmail for email.

Ah, the convenience of anonymity!
|
Its like trying to look at semi-naughty stuff here at work... Like going through tilted sexuality right now
|
Was a teacher of learning disabled kids for two years (volunteered twice a week) back in the mid-80s. But back then, there wasn't an Internet to have to worry about. :)

I just wonder if they don't worry about it or if "ordinary" public high schools are more lax about such things or whatever... |
I'm a public school teacher. I simply keep my private life, including my surfing, private. I do not surf at work. No one has a right to enter my home or question me unless I do something questionable at work; therefore, no fear. Also, like you, I will not give out my full name and prefer to only be known by my user name.

Sexymama is quite a nickname.
|
i dont think it should matter what a teacher does at home as long as it doesnt affect her/his ability to run a classroom...

I happen to agree with you, but most school boards probably would not... It's the whole "setting an example" thing that often gets brought up. |

Again, it might not be such a big deal in the public schools, or, you might have a well insulated persona like I do. I'm only asking because I'm fucking paranoid and most of you don't seem to be. |

From someone who ditched alot of classes, and hung with the wrong crowd, I truly would never have made the connection that any one of my very vanilla teachers would have ever been even online, least of all even having a sex life....
|
I'm not too concerned..... I only surf at home, but, if I were caught and canned, there is such a teacher shortage that I would quickly get another position somewhere, I am sure. The only thing that would REALLY gripe me about it is knowing that the school board that fires me probably surfs also. Remember the song 'Harper Valley PTA'?????
|
unless you use your real name or address or something, the only other way would be to have an actual photo of yourself somewhere here. other than that, nothing else COULD point them to you.

Jinya might have an answer to this question, I'll see if I can get her to respond.

I can remember running into a former teacher at a strip bar. I wouldn't think it strange to meet my teacher on the internet.
There was a story in the news lately about a teacher that was busted for prostitution. In Hamilton, I think. She was just doing her "summer" job. Apparently she had been doing it for years. That could be considered a character flaw for somebody in charge of educating children! :hmm: |
Then there was the theology professor at Harvard who got canned after techs discovered a ton of porn downloads on his computer in his office.
