So tell me about Viagra
I have a buddy who offered to give me a Viagra to try.
I have to admit that I am curious... What will it do to a healthy person?

I can't tell you about viagra, having never used it. My knowledge of it is limited to public knowledge. Basically, it makes you more prone to getting and staying hard. (To the point that you can keep it up for hours, even while ejaculating multiple times.) So far as i know, that's all it does. The rest is up to you.
I have toyed with herbal preps a couple times. Yohimbe is pretty much known to be an aphrodesiac, with very few herbalists/pharmicists in dissent. However, it mucks with your blood pressure. Don't make a habit of taking it and don't take it if you have a heart condition or whatnot. A LOT of other herbs are claimed to be aphrodesiacs. Most are probably snake oil. But then, they rarely hurt. |

I've never taken it myself, but my understanding of its use among men that are typically virile is that it is taken in conjunction with Ecstasy, which on its own tends to effect your ability to perform. I don't think it has much effect if you're already performing to your physical ability.
I imagine that if you *think* it does, it could have a psychological effect.

I've taken it on several occasions. Originally given to me by my doctor because the medication I was taking was affecting the little guy. I'm 38, so have begun experiencing the differences that come with age. After taking viagra, I coulda cut a diamond. I hadn't been that amazingly rock hard since I was, well...22. And yes, I was able to perform admirably multiple times during the evening.
Since you're a young man and physically fit, try taking 1/2. It's what I do on special occasions.

I have tried Viagra a few times and it does help if you are having erection problems-primarily if you are having difficulty achieving a full erection. I'm 37 and like Sipsake above, I am starting to feel (no pun intended) the effects of my age. A couple of side effects worth noting: it doesn't work too well with alcohol (whisky dick is still whisky dick), it's effect seems to be lessened or delayed if you take one while eating a heavy meal, and it makes me feel very hot-almost to the point where I feel like I have a fever. Good luck with it, but if you aren't having any problems, then why fuck with it? I remember getting hard looking at the cover of Cosmo when I was 22-Don't look a gift horse in the mouth if you know what I mean.

There have been horror stories of bad reactions to Viagra, including long-term damage to your ability to get it up again, ever. I'll also say "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it". And, if she still wants more and mr happy isn't cooperating, just remember that your fingers never lose their erection. Or use toys with her.

Most of the horror stories are just that...horror stories.
That being said, viagra is a prescription drug for a reason and shouldn't be abused. However taking one is unlikely to cause anything to drop off. Redlemon makes a good point though, no reason to let viagra get in the way of your creativity. Also, consider your girlfriends reaction. My fiance became a little upset after a while because it was the drugs giving me the super powers, not her.

Viagra is meant for old men or those who can't already get it up and has been known to have adverse effects on those who use it when they don't need it. It does, however, give you hours worth of hard-on(s) even if you don't need it. I wouldn't recommend doing it, though.
Random info.: A common side effect of Viagra is blue tinted vision.

some that have taken it and not needed it have had hard ons for almost a complete day. it causes severe pain if you take too much (less than half a pill for the person in the story i was told) the guy had to goto the hospital so they could drain the blood out.
not really something to mess with. |

I'm 25 and took it twice. It's not really worth it if you don't need it. The hardness did not match my state of arousal so it felt a little strange. Stick with yohimbe if you wanna try something. It will give you a more subtle edge. I take yohimbe maybe once or twice a month for special occaisions.

There is a lot of misinformation going on here.
Blue tinted vision is not a common side effect. Though it has been reported there is no clinical trial study in which this was reported as a common effect. No one has had to go to the hospital and have their blood drained. Less than half a pill is not going to give you a hardon so severe you will need medical attention. You should always consult your doctor before taking a prescription medication. They will be able to advise you on it's efficacy and go over the medical side effects without all the horror stories. If you want to worry about side effects, worry about yohimbe... Yohimbe is a tree bark containing a variety of pharmacologically active chemicals. It is marketed in a number of products for body building and "enhanced male performance." Serious adverse effects, including renal failure, seizures and death, have been reported to FDA with products containing yohimbe and are currently under investigation. - Food and Drug Administration -- http://vm.cfsan.fda.gov/~dms/supplmnt.html

I'm a perfectly healthy 28 year old and I've used it several times. My wife & I were trying to get pregnant and having sex almost everyday for about 3 months. I got a free sample from my doctor and used it on the days (or nights) when I was too tired or simply not in the mood.
This stuff about blue-tinted vision and having to get blood drained is COMPLETE BS. The only side-effects I've ever experienced were a stuffy nose and slight sinus headache, although if you drink a full glass of water, the effects lessen. I've NEVER had any problems getting a normal "unassisted" erection when I was in the mood before, and I still don't now. A half of a pill is plenty to take. Expect to get rock hard in 15-30 minutes (faster if you chew the pill). The first time, I took a whole pill and I was able to get rock hard again 5 minutes after coming. I also found myself gettting rock-hard for no good reason at least 3 hours later. You don't have to need it to love it. If you wanna screw like a pornstar for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour, its for you. |

I'm 59 and take it occasionally because it does exactly what they say it will. If you are aroused it will make you big and hard and you will stay that way until the arousal goes away. Sometimes you will get a flushed feeling that doesn't last long. Otherwise I have not experienced any side effects. You do not need a whole pill. 1/2 will do nicely for most men. When I was your age I didn't need it, (wasn't invented yet anyway) and could leave the ladies too sore for further sexual encounters anyway. Have fun and enjoy what nature gave you.

I have tried it.
Lemme tell ya. Remember when you 14 and you got rock hard at the drop of a hat? Well lets just say that I don't need it. But It sure makes sex a whole lot more fun. I had no sideeffects at all. Unless you count the raging morning wood, that I had to take care of on my own cause my wife was to sore. Viagra= Strong like bull Viagra= Wife walking funny the next day.

Sadly, I'm only 29 and use it because I'm already "feeling the effects of age." I don't use it all the time 'cause I hate to think that I already need a drug to have sex but I do when I want to guarantee that I get an erection.
Mind you, I've never had a problem getting an erection when I'm alone, so perhaps it's psychological. Still, it's not as easy as when I was 19, only ten years earlier... Also, viagra seems to have the opposite effect of the horror stories some people have been spreading around. It seems easier to get an erection long after the effects of viagra have supposed to have worn off. I'm pretty good to go the _day_ after, and there has been, at least, on time where I had normal erectile function for the rest of the _week!_ |

Greg700 - I hope I'm not hijacking your thread by asking this, I can put it in a new thread if you want.
What exactly is the process for taking Viagra? Do you just swallow one and then a few minutes later you've go an erection? Do you still have to be turned on to get the erection, or can you be thinking about your grandma's computer problems and it just happens anyway, because of the Viagra? Once you ejaculate does it go down, or is it up and hard until the pill has worn off? |

Tried it one time. I ain't never seen anything like it! I have never been that hard in my life. The next morning, I stretched when I got out of bed, and "boing", hard as a rock again. The only complaint I had was the headache the morning after. The worst one I have ever had!
A funny story concerning this little blue pill: My mother-in law was at the Dr. and asked him about whether it would help my father-in law. (62 yrs old) The doctor asked if she wanted a script for him and she said yes. He then asked her if she wanted 50 or 100. She kinda blushed and said, "Well, I was thinking about maybe 10 or 15." He then said "I was talking about millligrams!" |

I've heard some bad things about this and other drugs like it for the mere fact that is this. The penis is a organ based on bloodflow, naturally I you're not supposed to stay hard for hours, maybe 1 hour but more than that without letting it down? Without good blood flow and circulation the cells can get damaged and I'm sure that's not something you want.
I could be totally wrong but I'd say not to take it without extensively researching it first. You may be scared about what you find.

well it is a little blue pill that.....
I know someone that works in a doctors office where that had received lots of sample packs of Viagra. I guess they just started handing it out like Halloween Candy. (Only to adults and not children.) We thought about getting some to try but at the time I was single and did not feel like having a 4 hour masturbation session. My god I would have ended up with forearms the size of Popeyes. |

i say donīt take it unless you ABSOLUTELY NEED IT!!!
iīve got a friend who took one, and couldnīt get his erection to go away for about 15 hours. during that time he was in absolute agony. funny though, when you consider he had to work behind the bar for most of those 15 hours... he said later that it hurt for a day or two afterwards as well. its a powerful pill...

Hmmm... lots of misinformation here but some good stuff. I occasionally take Viagra and will speak only of my personal experiences. I generally take the 50mg variety, but they are easy to break and 1/2 a tablet is fine. I can't imagine anyone needing the 100mg version.
Side effects - I have never experienced the blue vision but your entire body may feel flushed. This can lead to a feeling of pressure in your eyes. I generally end up with a mild headache soon after taking one, maybe 30 minutes later. Sexual effects - I never seem to get as hard as I normally get without Viagra. However, the erection does last longer. I do feel that my sensitivity is significantly increased, and that orgasms are more intense. This effect and not the hardness is the number one attraction to me. Side notes - this product is reputed to work well for women. About 1/3 to 1/2 of women can't orgasm through intercourse alone, and ladies who ahve tried Viagra have noted a remarkable increase in sensitivity such that many of them are able to orgasm without direct digital stimulation. Many OBGYNs will give a prescription for Viagra. Having said all this, it is a prescription drug and there can be serious consequences if used incorrectly. In particular, watch out for other drug interactions;the label clearly states problem areas. Good luck. |

I tried it the weekend of last years final four. All i did the entire weekend was eat ribs and bone. Everytime her side of the bed moved she got stabbed again, then i went to Fridays for ribs. This went on for the entire weekend of of half a pill. Im 23 and didnt need it, but had a hell of a time doing it. By the time it was over I was completely dehydrated with 20 lbs of ribs in my stomach and my girl could walk without wincing but she never once complained. I recommend a 1/2 pill recreational use and a bottle of red wine for one hell of a weekend.
