Male yeast infection

Ive been dating this girl for severel months now and just 2 weeks ago we had sex in a hot tub and I came away with what I can only assume is a yeast infection. Thats what she told me anyway. dunno going to the doctor tomorrow to find out. Guess I was really just wondering if its possible she wasnt sleeping around to get the yeast infection to give it to me.

Male Yeast Infection would otherwise be known as Jock Itch caused by candidiasis or a similar fungus. Considering the fact that you had sex in a tub that alone makes this more likely as the fungus thrives in warm moist environments. The treatments to help this are usually mild and non-invasive and similar to those used to treat atheletes foot as this fungus is very similar or sometimes the same.

One other thought is that it is the same bacteria as what causes Bacterial Vaginosis which is actually more common in women than Yeast Infections are. This would have to be treated by antibiotics.

Neither one of these are necessarily contracted through sex. They can be developed otherwise so your girl may have been completely faithful and still developed one or the other. It is good that you are going to to a Dr soon. Without actually seeing the infection it would be impossible to know exactly what in the problem.

I would recommend researching STD's at http://my.webmd.com, http://www.cdc.gov/ or any other reputable source.

An article specifically referring to Male yeast infection - Jock Itch is here http://my.webmd.com/content/healthwi...tselectedguid={5FE84E90-BC77-4056-A91C-9531713CA348}

Good Luck

Men can get jock itch without sex, it's not an STD. Because you have jock itch it doesn't imply that your girl was sleeping around... especially since the evidence points to the hot tub, since it is well HOT and a microscopic jungle (even with chlorine). You might want to keep close tabs on your girl to make sure she doesn't also develop it. Even if you were the one who got it first, if you had sex after the hot tub, you could have given it to her at a later date.

The doctor will probably recommend some OTC powders or cream for jock itch and tell you to wear breathable clothes like cotton. Avoid pants, wear shorts. Boxers, not briefs. Don't use any super hot blankets at night (it becomes an incubator for bacteria/fungus). Eat yogurt with live cultures (don't spread it on your cak). *added* It is unknown if this is truly beneficial, but many doctors suggest it anyways.

True, true. One Diflucan tablet and a few days of Miconazole cream applied to the area tends to clear it up posthaste.
