Why does the penis go limp after ejaculation?
Whats the medical reason for the penis going limp after sex?
I can stay hard but the head shrinks alittle. |
umm... this ties right in with the last thread I just posted to. Males are not supposed to be able to orgasm one after another. The refractory period is where the head gets super-sensitive and you start to deflate. So, basicly, the medical reason is, "because."

Your on form tonight Sir :)

I am edumacated

The state of sexual arousal in the male is primarily for causing the female to become pregnant and to spread the males genetic material. Once you come off then this is done and there is no reason to maintain that state of arousal. Darwinian thinking would say that it is actually a negative survival attribute. If you were aroused longer than you needed to be then you would be more likely to not see that saber toothed cat sneaking up on you.

I don't know how unusual this is, but I stay just as hard after ejaculation as I was before, as long as there is still some kind of stimulation.

Many times after sex I've still got it going on. It must vary from person to person. *shrug*

Hard after ejaculation, yes... too sensitive to do anything about it? Uh huh.
|
what are some tricks for keeping this hardness after ejaculation
|
Good question...find a magic lamp and rub it? No, I don't know what makes it happen. Being in control of your orgasm may help. If you can stay hard for a long session of sex, you may remain hard afterward.

Tricks?
Something that works for me, on occasion, is to have my partner perform oral on me, even though it may be so intense that I feel like I can't stand it. Then initiate something that maybe a bit more risque than you are used to, like sticking a finger up your asshole. Try something intense to keep the focus on reaching a new higher plateau. If you find what works consistently, try to remember the feelings and emotions that accompany this. Later, when after you orgasm, practice recalling that working *trick*. This by far does not always work for me. But when I am feeling 'Zen' enough, the next orgasm is a lot more intense than the previous and looking forward to the third + is on of the greatest ambitions. Will, that sounds selfish, also included in the ambition, to the same degree, is for my partner to get off multiple times too. Hope this helps. I am really interested in hearing other people's magic! Sex is total Magic and all of us have a bit of wizardry inside! |
Thanks guys

Most of the time I lose it, too, and believe (like jbrooks and hobo) that it's primarily Darwinian.
However, there have been several times where I could just keep going. Thinking back, it's because there was continued intense stimulation (i.e. the girl had come but was begging for more). |
Well, let's put it this way.
If you still had it, you would use it. This helps the lady get some rest. Otherwise, you'd be like a dog in heat, humpin' forever. After awhile the friction would burn the house down. Seriously, If you are a man who can keep it up even after an orgasm, you then have to take other things under consideration, like for instance when the female drys-up. Even if she is still turned-on, there is a good chance that she can't keep wet, just like you run out of little men after a few times. Nature takes these things under account. BTW, this might be the reason men get sleepy afterwards. We men if given the chance, would just keep it going & going. So, if you are "gifted", make sure you take the lady under consideration too. |
Here here, rogue! was about to make a comment to that effect. friction burns down there suck!!!

I can usually stay hard after I cum with no difficulty, and without any painful over-sensitivity. However, since I have pretty decent stamina the first time round, the second bout of sex has been known to take a long time (think hours) - and that gets tiring, so I usually just stop whenever we get too exhausted. After all, I've got my jollies once, and can't really expect any more!
