Nausea

Keeping it brief: Often after a particularly intense orgasm my gf will experience a short period of nausea. She explains this away as being a result of too much stimulation. I've noticed it tends to happen when she holds her breath involuntarily during an orgasm, which she does despite my reminding her to breathe. I'm sure the lack of oxygen makes the orgasm more intense, but nausea following orgasm would be the last thing I'd want. Anyone else, male or female, ever see or experience this phenomenon? And first crack about her being nauseated by me earns a kick to the appropriate sex organ.

She's only, er, experienced with me, period. We've been dating for six years now and she was pretty pure until I came along

I get that. Short of breath, light headed, slight nausea. I've always attributed it to the vigorousness of the activity and the surges of hormones and adrenaline. Actually more like the chemical surges receding.

Hell - after an orgasm that's any better than usual, i usually get a lil' disoriented, winded, and possibly dizzy. Any combination of the three would be enough to cause nausea for me. I wouldn't worry about it.

I typed in the "crack" you were refering to, then went back and deleted it.

According to this site, it's not uncommon and it's a "side effect" of the orgasm itself.

This site suggests it's caused by too much progesterone in the bloodstream (birth control pills...)

Then there's Here:
Postdural headache: This is the least common of coital headaches. The pain occurs in the lower back of the head and is greatly increased then the patient stands. This form is more likely to be accompanied by nausea and vomiting.
Once diagnosis have confirmed coital headaches to be benign, medications can be taken one to two hours before anticipated sexual activity to hopefully avoid coital headaches. Some of the medications that may be used are Indomethacin, DHE (Dihydroergotamine, Imitrex, Zomig, Maxalt, Amerge, Midrin, Propanolol, and common analgesics. If the problem persists, daily preventive medications may be in order.

those sound like symptoms of migraines, that kind of activity can trigger them. this bit of text lists symptoms, but she might not be affected by all of them

"Migraine is disease, a headache is only a symptom. Migraine pain is caused by vasodilation in the cranial blood vessels (expansion of the blood vessels), while headache pain is caused by vasoconstriction (narrowing of the blood vessels). During a migraine, inflammation of the tissue surrounding the brain, i.e., neurogenic inflammation, exacerbates the pain. Therefore, medicine often prescribed to treat a headache, such as beta-blockers, dilate the blood vessels and therefore can make a Migraine worse.

Unlike a headache, the Migraine disease has many symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, auras (light spots), sensitivity to light and sound, numbness, difficulty in speech, and severe semihemispherical head pain. One Migraine attack alone can last for eight hours, several days, or even weeks. "

Well, she does suffer from migraines, but she hasn't complained of those after orgasm, just the nausea. Being as she gets them just about every day, I think she'd know if she was having one. I appreciate the links, micah, as well as your postdated discretion. The second link seems to involve nausea in menstruation, not orgasm, and the third is primarily about headaches. The first link just says "it's not uncommon" and that it is a side effect of the orgasm. That's, well, pretty shitty. I don't like nauseating my woman. Makes me not want to have sex with her because I feel so bad making her feel bad...

Actually, the first few time I ever had sex, I'd get a bit nausueas afterwards, which I think was my stomach pounding into hers for 10-15 minutes. I'm male too, so mine was due to a completly diffrent reason..

Yup.
