Ladies-do you prefer Rough hands or Soft hands in guys?
Do you prefer guys who have smooth, unblemished, soft hands? Or guys with calloused, weathered, rough hands? We were discussing which ladies prefer the other day and I ended up on either side of the fence at various times.
http://www.hyperhidrosiscumc.com/ima...41_results.jpg My belief is that ladies will generally SAY they prefer rough hands, but in actuality, prefer soft hands. Granted, either EXTREME will likely be a put-off. |
I grew up in a family of farmers, so I associate rough hands with hard workers. Now, I know that there are all kinds of hard work (I, myself, sit at a desk all day and it can be hard work), but it's one of those things that's buried in my subconscious. My husband has rough hands. He says they're ugly; I think they are beautiful.

Rough.
I dated a guy once with softer hands than mine. It was creepy. |
I like soft hands. With plenty of hair on them. :)
Feel free to post werewolf pictures and whatnot. I like a man with body hair. :p |
Even being in a kitchen for years, I still have soft hands.

I like callused, large hands, but not overly rough. My SO's hands are perfect--big and a little rough from outside work. Rawr.

She likes a man that looks like a man (strong, scars, hair), and I like a woman that looks like a woman (curvy, smooth). |
I chose "soft".
I'm a fan of taking care of your skin. Even if you work every day, and your hands are calloused, you don't need to have skin that is abrasive to the touch. A proper lotion regime goes a long way. |
I put lotion on my tattoo when I first got it. I used lotion to jerk off. That's about where lotion ends for me LOL

My husband's hands have become softer since I joined his life. |
Turns out men don't use lotion or allow lotion to be used on their hands unless they're bleeding... in which case Vaseline is the salve of choice.
I've got something that I'd like a S/O to rub lotion on and it can't turn the throttle on a motorcycle. ... My hands are weird. I've got thin fingers and a longish palm. Useful for gunsmithing projects and climbing, I suppose. |

/sarcasm **** I use lotion if I need to because of dry skin. I clip my nails when I can see them over my fingertips. Quote:

It's not that black and white for me so I didn't choose a preference.
I don't believe that calloused, weathered hands are necessarily rough. Tough guys can be groomed, too. Nice hands whether they're hardworking hands or primped hands. That is all. |
I like manly hands but with soft skin. It's more the shape of the hand and the nails that gets me, not the overall roughness or softness. A little hair is sexy.
|
How do ladies feel about rough hands handling their, ermmm, delicate bits?
|
I'm not particular, but little guitar callouses are almost a must. :)
|
There isn't a "both" option. I love hands that are weathered and soft.
Rough in just the right places, but softish fingertips. I find callouses fascinating and those little rough spots on the palms are magical during a massage or just drifting over skin and can feel amazing. I don't like soft, not-strong hands. They can be soft, but there's got to be strength there. I hate when I hold or shake hands with a man (or woman for that matter) who has soft, wimpy hands. I work with people who are dying... it reminds me of that and TOTALLY creeps me out. I'd use an exclamation point there, but Halx would shake his head at me. |
I'm not sure that my paws can actually absorb lotion.
|
Never really thought about how women might interpret my hands until now. Thanks. A lot.
I think I'd be lying if I said that I have ever done any work that would have a lasting effect on my hands. They have been smooth and soft all my life. |

She massages nothing, not even my shoulders actually. Hmm...I massage her's all the time. I think I'm going to have to bring that up. Thanks! No I'm just kidding. I'm off to have dinner with her now, and maybe watch a movie. Maybe I can get her to work on my back if I talk real sweet ;) |
My bf's hands are perfect for me. I also voted rough. They feel good and manly to me :D
|
I don't really care. I'd rather not have them be so rough that shaking his hand makes me bleed, but that's about it.
I've only ever dated musicians, and they have the general music calluses from whichever instrument they play, as do I. I have fairly rough hands for a girl, so its no biggie whatsoever. *raises hands in the air* Thems WORKIN' HANDS! :P OP should edit poll to include a "Don't care either way" option. :P Then I can vote too. |
im just going to drop in here to say my hands are similar to cinderblocks and can crush 200 lbs. my wife says my hands are extremely rough but so goes the journey to becoming a certified Captain of Crush.

hmm..my guy has soft fingers but calloused palms from weight lifting. The smooth fingers work well for caressing. Generally, the only hand issue that is a turn off for me is a hang-nail. Worst. Fingerfuck. Ever.

Rough hands for me if I had to choose. As long as there are no sharp corners on nails, I'm not particularly bothered either way as long as they are strong, firm, confident and gentle. There's nothing quite like holding a hand that feels like it could crush you, but instead treats your fingers like a delicate flower.

My ex was a born-and-bred country girl. Despite her liking rough hands (for the usual country reasons), when she met me her opinion changed. :) My hands are incredibly soft (apparently) on their own. Plus I personally like to get touchy-feely a lot, so I have a doubt that would go over well with rough hands.
Yes, I work in the tech industry. |
I have rough hands myself (physical labor, wheee) and I get tired of applying lotion. I don't like it when a guy's hands are softer/smoother than mine. I prefer men's hands large, gnarly, and rough-but-not-extremely-scratchy.
Hands are interesting. Scars, calluses, bumps, knots.. they all tell me a story about their owner's life and behaviors, and the more interesting the hands the better for me. :) |
Ugh. This is going nowhere. Deadlocked at 8 and 8 and I am more confused than ever.
|
Who knows?
Never in my life have I applied "hand lotion" or any such item I have a broken finger on one hand (which is mostly healed, by quite crooked), an inch long scar from this one time I wrapped a sweater round my hand, formed a fist around half a brick and then punched through a double glazed window on my right hand, callus' below each of my fingers, usually have hangnails, a scar that runs across two of the knuckles on my left hand, hair on the back of my hands (but none on the palms!), a small scar on the right palm of my hand from a balsa knife... So I would place myself in the rough category. |

Rough hands look sexier, but soft hands are actually sexier (i.e. not painful!) in practice.
