So you have a thing for geriatric dogs? hmmmm. I knew Ohio would do crazy things to you...

(That's 18 in human years, not dog years)

The 18 is a bit arbitrary.

In this country, the age of consent is 16.

But I understand your point.

I personally am only interested sexually in women, but then again I also find movies with lesbians arousing and in fact the simple idea of two girls making out seems pleasant to me.

I guess maybe I am secondarily heterosexual, but first and foremost an ardent feminist?

In an age of heterosexual, homosexual and bisexual, it seems that labeling yourself is nothing more than a limitation. I've only ever been attracted to women sexually, but I'm not going preclude a certain kind of love simply in order to categorize myself. The same goes for all of my philosophies and beliefs. I'm socially and politically progressive, but that doesn't stop me from exploring non-progressive options.

You don't actually believe that, do you?

Willravel 06-16-2009 11:56 AM

I really do. Look at how labeling yourself a heterosexual paid off for Larry Craig. Turns out he likes men, but instead of being okay with who he is and exploring a healthy relationship with a man he cares about, he was caught playing footsie for some anonymous dick in an airport bathroom by the Minneapolis police.

Exactly. Why pigeonhole yourself?

As for the gay parenting debate that occurred earlier in the thread: Children raised in households headed by homosexuals have similar outcomes to children raised in heterosexual households. The most common family form in a homosexual-headed family is a lesbian mother who has biological children from a previous marriage and now has a partner. This is actually a very advantageous family form compared to divorced heterosexuals, as children in these families are more likely to see both custodial parents and they also benefit from having multiple people contributing economically and emotionally to their well-being. Children of gay parents are more likely to consider homosexuality as an option and to be more open-minded about the possibility, but there is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that children of homosexuals are more likely to be homosexual themselves. In other words, there is no reason to keep homosexuals from adopting or having children. None.

Why "pigeonhole" yourself when you can have someone you care about do it to you, regardless of gender?

Strange Famous, whats an ardent feminist? Is it the same as a dude who calls himself an "identified lesbian"?

Milnoc 06-16-2009 12:43 PM

I prefer Torchwood's Captain Jack's orientation label.

Omnisexual.

He'll do anybody and anything! :D

(No, that's not a reflection of my personal tastes. :) )

Well, I mean in my mind my appreciation of women is not just based solely on me being a man, but it is an essential part of me.

If some sick individual were to kidnap me and drug me and perform a sex change operation on me to make me a dame, I would still be attracted to women.

Willravel 06-16-2009 12:56 PM

Do you worry about that happening a lot, SF?

Strange Famous 06-16-2009 01:05 PM

Well, obviously its unlikely to happen.

wooÐs 06-16-2009 01:24 PM

I was bi before it was cool. Then I grew out of it, just like most bi teens these days will too. I really don't think I'll be with a woman again but if it does happen, it doesn't mean I'm bi. Bored maybe lol. Regardless of what anyone says tho, a woman with a strap-on is nothing like a real man.

So yah - straight here.

Hellaphli915 06-22-2009 09:54 PM

I think that everyone is TOO BUSY READING LABELS. I don't label myself. Whatever happens, happens with whoever. But sexuality is overrated; especially in this day in age. Just as long as you're happy. So pornclerk, I say to you, do what you want to do. Date women or fuck 'em its your world. If your family cannot support you then they rather not get to know and understand you for who you are.

tisonlyi 06-23-2009 01:46 AM

Sexuality in 2d. That's certainly not what I see... Straight, gay, lesbian, bi, poly, transsexual, transvestite, celibate, bdsm, fetishised, etc... and all the glorious blends that go with it.

I happen to have a passing acquaintance with a female-to-male transsexual (pre-op, but taking hormones), bi, has been in poly relationships but not at the moment and lives with 'her' androgenous, collared slave who's talked about becoming neutered in the future, certainly de-balled.

Black, white or somewhere inbetween. Quaint.

You can't help what you are.

Resistance is futile.
