Things we Love about Men
I know we've discussed this topic in the Ladies' Lounge. Now I figure it's time to bring the topic into the Sexuality forum. Why not let the guys add to the conversation?
What I love about men: A gentle caress from rough, hard-working, firm hands. Biceps you can feel in a crushing, heartwarming hug. When their rough veneer gives way to the mushy lovey-dovey underlayers. Their ability to let everything go, be lazy, and relax. How they live a minimalist lifestyle and minimize distractions without noticing. The ease with which their conversations move - from politics to bowel movements to video games at the drop of an off-hand comment. How easy it is to shop for their clothes and accessories. Their laughter and the ease it brings to any situation. |
I'm struggling to think of what I as a male might add to the conversation without sounding either boastful or bisexual. I suppose I appreciate camaraderie and loyalty from my male friends and family members. The social contract between men can be strong because we can usually very easily empathize with one another.

How a man friend will pitch in and help, and only give you a look to let you know how stupid you are,
without having to say it. |
Things I love about men, specifically with my SO in mind:
I love how he's more mechanically minded than I am. I can count on him to fix things I can't fix and solve problems I can't solve. We have two very different minds in some respects, and I appreciate that difference immensely. I love how he is a doer, which complements me as a dreamer. I dream it, and he gets it done. His bum. Rawr. That he's not wrapped up in gender roles, and believes in labor equality, but still does "the guy stuff" around the house. |
How they look in suits....
How goofy and fun they are around kids... How they try to hide being excited over things like Christmas presents... How guy friends don't expect you to talk when you're upset. They don't ask questions. They just get you a beer. |
The body hair and the penis.
Otherwise I like and dislike things about people based on personality and values. |
I like how I can trust my friends to drop anything at a phone call and do whatever it takes to help me out. I would bet money a half dozen of my friends in Texas would drop everything and fly/drive cross country to help me if I make the call, as they know I'd do the same for them.

** The momentary "deer in the headlights" look he gets when I ask, "Babe, do these pants make me look fat?" Priceless. Just priceless. (and you guys thought we were asking because we really wanted your opinion bwaaahaahaahaahaa!!)
** How he trips over his tongue and completely forgets what he was talking about if I merely lick my lips while looking into his eyes. Whether or not he is talking to me. Whether or not his mother is present. ** How it makes his day to be able to open a jar for me when he thinks I can't open it myself. ** How he attempts to look confident and knowledgeable when I drag him into Victoria's Secret. |

How a guy will help you do something you know is stupid and dangerous, if nothing more than to watch you get hurt and be able to laugh at you later.

Things I love about men
I love how protective they are of me even when in a few cases I know I'm the more physically intimidating one. I love how they always seem to be warmer / cooler then me depending on the weather. I love how when they hug me and I'm surrounded by that scent every guy seems to have I feel safe, cherished. I love how they can treat me as one of the guys and as a girl in the same conversation. I love watching them put on pants (I don't know why but /shrug) I love the feel of their stubble on my cheek / neck / shoulder / back I love the way they want to fix all my problems even if they're the type that can't be fixed. I love how excited they get over a new toy or game, where you can suddenly see what they were like when they were 6 I love the their hands the way they're rough and elegant and powerful all at once I love the way they go pale when you mention anything about your menstrual cycle (and in my case heading straight to the fridge for my chocolate) I love how almost all of them seem to revert into a little boy in the presence of their mother I love the feel of their chest and skin under my cheek I love how soft their body hair is even when it looks coarse I love the way they're willing to hold my hand or hug me during a scary movie. I love they way they laugh at me because I am afraid of spiders and roaches but will still move them outside for me. I love the look they give you when you ask "so what ya thinking?" There's more - I'll keep making the list at another point in time. |

I am going to geek out about my boyfriend:
-That dumb ass look he gives me when he is embarrassing in public but doesn't realize it. -How warm he always is. <3 -Even after a long day at work he smells amazing. -When he tries to dance and fails. Then he doesn't know why I hide my face. I am always trying not to laugh. -The way he puts his head in my lap and pouts if I am mad. -He can be aggressive and strong then gentle and tender in the blink of an eye. -The shape of his hands. -He always knows if a touch bothers me, even if I try to pretend it didn't. -How he tolerates me sobbing all the time. I am a wienie. |
mmm...I love the way men smell. I've always loved borrowing shirts from boyfriends, just to smell their scent when they aren't around. This goes double for my current boyfriend... he smells amazing. No cologne or anything, just... him.

A couple things I like....
how excited they get when you let them teach you something they enjoy watching them play with children and being able to visualize them as child when your going through a rough time and they tell you: Man Up! or Grow a Sack!.....sometimes it's exactly what you need to hear that look in their eyes when they tell you about the first time they saw Star Wars... |
I'll use my SO mostly...
I adore how excited he gets when I sit down next to him on the couch and ask to join in the video game or who's fighting on TV. I love how his bicept fits just right in the curve of my neck and his chest under my ear. I love the sparkle in his eye when he comes home all sweaty and exhausted from BJJ class and tells me about how he rolled with purple belts who couldn't tap him out. And the grin when he realizes I know what he's talking about now. I love the little wrinkle between his eyebrows when he's concentrating. I love when most men try to bluff or bullshit and get that little twitch in the corner of their mouth that gives it away. I love that he answers the front door with our Glock when the doorbells rings, just to keep me safe. And I love that he taught me to shoot and that I can still surprise him by demonstrating the roll across the bed, onto the floor, open the drawer, grab the gun and cock it towards the imaginary man coming up the stairs that might get me when he's out of town. I love that my guy friends will hug me when I'm cold. I'm always cold. I love that smell when he's showered in the past 24 hours but no body products or massive sweat session. His natural smell is awesome. I really enjoy watching the male brain work sometimes and listening to the differences in thought processes. I love that when he has a scary dream, he'll still reach for me in his sleep and relax. |
