What's your safe word?

I was just discussing safe words with my friend and it occurred to me that I hadn't chosen one for my current relationship.

For those of you that engage in bondage and dominance play, I'm just curious what some of the safe word that you use are? And what's the story behind it if there is one? Also, are any nonverbal signals that you use?

My current safe word is "uncle", it just makes sense to me and it's easy to say. Given that "uncle" is often used as a type of nonsexual safe word, I can definitely remember it. I don't have a nonverbal signal as of yet.

I've only had two relationships where B&D was so frequent a sex treat that a constant safe word was necessary.

In the first, the safe word was "coffee" which was an inside joke between us as to having first played role playing games as foreplay when we met at a coffeehouse.

In the second, the word was "Joshua," which was the name of her previous boyfriend whom she didn't like.

I tend to think that good safe words recommend themselves....

Good to have them, though! Smart thinking, safe playing!

Ever since that Family Guy episode dealing with drugs in schools, I've adopted "banana" as my safety word if I ever need it. :)

We've never used a safe word and thus far I've never felt the need to use one. But then again, we aren't too big on pain play - some, but not a lot. If there's a problem with a cuff or something...I just say so.

Yeah, that works, too.

If I ever need a safe word, I'm going to use "banana." As it stands, we don't really engage in the kind of play that requires the use of a safe word.

Haha, that's like the golden bullet of safe words right there.

"The safe word is WHiskey"

"Why are you saying it like that"

"WHat?"

"You're saying it weird"

"I'm saying WHat WHeird"

"The whole thing..."

Cant say Ive ever needed one, or had a partner need one with me.

But if I did, I think "Mississipi".

I think I remember some guy on an MTV show where he had someone whip him use it.

My wife has never felt the need to use it, but her safe word is Hyacinth, as she's a big fan of the Jacqueline Carey "Kushiel" books.

I'm not in a relationship at the moment, but I've always advocated that people use "Newt Gingrich." Even if they don't want to stop, it'll kill the mood.

little_tippler 04-08-2008 05:07 AM

Well then "Maggie Thatcher" would probably work for most Brits! :p

Redlemon 04-08-2008 06:17 AM

"No."

xepherys 04-08-2008 08:32 AM

I always thought that "FLÜGGÅƏNKƋƐČHIŒßØLSĚN" was a good safe word. Kudos to the first person who knows where that's from ;)

Hopefully I have all the letters correct. I think two accents might be wrong :(

Smurf. because, we would never normally say it, and it's kinda funny.

ItWasMe 04-08-2008 10:18 AM

"Ow! Do that again, and I'll << insert something unpleasant >>"

Jenna 04-08-2008 07:00 PM

ShaniFaye 04-09-2008 01:45 AM
