Any thoughts on Replens????
OK, so the wife and I have started talking about our troubles and that has led to us doing some research and we now find that not all our problems need be solved by HRT. (I'm a bit pissed that her doctor didn't know that, but oh well....) Anyhow, we're thinking of giving Replens a try and I wanted to know if any of the ladies here have tried it (or have friends who have) and what your thoughts are on it.
FWIW, her symptoms are classic post-menopausal vaginal dryness, pain during intercourse, and lack of desire most likely cause by the aforementioned troubles. |
Isn't Replens just a long lasting personal lubricant? I'm assuming you've tried others, but since it's dangerous to assume I'll give you my two cents about lubricants.
First of all, thank God for their existance. My girlfriend and I would not be able to have sex without a lubricant. We've tried several and our personal favorite is called Maximus. We also like Liquid Silk. I'm not sure why you would want a long lasting personal lubricant that lasts several days. Seems like it would be a little uncomfortable when not being used for its intended purpose. Besides, one of the best parts about using a libricant for sex is the application. I can be a great part of foreplay. |
Being that I've never had sex with anyone over 30, I have little experience with this. I would think that an oil based lube would be superior in viscosity (is that even right to use in this context, I feel like I'm in Tilted Motors!) to a water based, but I know for allergy or condom reasons, some people like water based.

Hey Push-Pull, I tend to agree with nonplussed...liquid silk is an excellent lube...and again not wanting to assume to know the extent of the problem, if it was me I would look to how I could combat this in other ways also, I assume you have as well...wishing you luck....I could say more but I dont want to over step the boundries

In short, it's not a "lube" problem, it's a "condition" problem.
Replens is more of a moisturizer designed to get the conditions back to where they were before menopause, including pH. Just adding lube doesn't cause her less pain because the "skin" is still not terribly pliable although well lubricated. (Think of a dried up rubber band that is cracking. Just adding lube isn't going to "fix" it....) Replens is specifically for that problem. |
