I guess I’ll be the first guy to differ in opinion. I don’t find them particularly attractive, my compass seems to be set on neutral. Some I find slightly attractive others not so much, but I have no strong feelings towards any vagina. I suppose this has to do with my first experience seeing a naked woman. It was my older brother’s penthouse (I was 11 or 12 at the time), my first reaction was one of disgust. I thought it looked like the mouth of some alien creature or something and did not wholly understand why my brother would want to have this magazine in his possession. Over time my attitude obviously changed, but it’s strange how such trivial things can affect us.

umm... ok, from 11-18, I was abused starting with my father and when sent to a couple of schools it continued. I got locked into a cycle of walking into things.
Thats what I meant by somethings "missing", compared to what others views are on the subject.
It's why I prefer women with at least some hair, otherwise it looks like a cut (sorry) you asked

ejm_msp 08-20-2007 06:32 PM

<= female

The BF likes the bare look, and I indulge him every now and then. (Although I wonder whether he'd go through the trouble for some physical thing I'd like; waxing the works is a big painful chore especially when one has good hair genes that don't translate into easy removal) It kind of creeps me out in a way, although I haven't talked to him about this directly because I don't want to be accusatory. It seems to me that someone that likes this look would also be into less savory things- if you know what I mean. I also think this the interest in this hairdo is generated by the adult entertainment industry, which is after as much shock value as possible. Maybe some men like it because they have their's showing when naked so we should too. I don't really get it.

I hope that I am never in a ladies lockerroom situation sporting this one, because I would feel like an incredibly stupid, vulnerable idiot.

I love vaginas, darn near all of them. I love that no two look precisely alike, and I love that some women can't believe our fascination with them as we dive in. I prefer shaved or very well groomed myself.

Yes. It's difficult to pass judgement without the aid of a visual example on the subject. I mean .... what does this thing look like, anyway? :surprised:

Because it can't hide as easily if there is no hair, it is more visually appealing.

And I am attracted to the girlie bits, not to the hair.

Leto 08-21-2007 05:33 AM

hmmm, but the hair is all part of the girlie bits.

For the most part, very attractive, especially without pubic hair.

As far as I can tell, my opinion is unpopular around these parts, but I find the shaved, clamshell shaped vaginas most attractive (that is, without the hanging labia). The ones that have turned me off featured enormous labias (much larger/longer than average) in various shapes or forms as well as one that was all bush and no flesh. Seriously, it was like a jungle. And then somebody decided to link me to a diseased looking vagina that almost made me throw up my lunch.

As for in real life, I haven't seen one that I didn't like. Yet.

I don't. A little hair is nice, but totally unshaven is just a huge turn-off as far as I'm concerned.

No, I honestly don't think twice about it, and frankly often wonder about the people who associate shaved vaginas with prepubescents and feel the need to constantly comment on it. I prefer it for several reasons. In my experience, the women who shave or otherwise groom their vaginas are more sexually liberated and in-touch with their sexuality. Sex with shaved women feels exceptional (especially if I am closely groomed). No stupid hairs to get stuck to your tongue as you administer oral sex. It just looks "neater" and allows the beauty of the labia to be fully appreciated. The girl's hairs do not get caught during sex and pulled (had one complain about that before). I'm sure that there are more reasons, but those are a few off the top of my head.

I agree with that. I doubt that shaving the hair off a 40 year old will make her look 12.

And the most imporant factor is not how old it looks, but how old the woman attached to it is. If it is a 22 year old, it will be a 22 year old vagina, if it is a 34 year old, it will be a 34 year old vagina. It doesn't matter if their is any hair or not.

What I am attracted to is the shape, the color, the parts, the juices, but not the hair. And that doesn't mean I would want it shaved 100% of the time though. 95% would be good.

To the highest degree. Without it you might just as well borrow one of those blow-up dolls, sprinke it with talcum powder, and shove a vibrator up its' bum.

A real woman, with real hair on her good bits, is the reason why life exsists and the human race is not yet extinct. :)

ejm_msp 08-22-2007 04:21 AM

I'm glad someone finally had something smart to say about this. For me, having some hair is part of the over all 'I'm a woman' look and feel. Having NONE makes me feel vulnerable in a way- I guess women are lucky in that with hair their parts aren't usually exposed.

I would like to point out that the hairlessness look is perpetuated by certain industries, which then is imitated in life. Art imitates life imitates art? It's another part of the 'media and societal pressure to look a certain way...blah blah blah'. Not only is it a 'beauty standard' in the most intimate place (there is no refuge)when it's reinforced at home, it seems there really is no escape from these ideals, not in public or private.

Anyway, going bare is painful, and can be a considerable expense if getting waxed in a salon. Shaving doesn't last more than a day, and the grow back results in an extremely itchy crotch. I would invite any gentleman to go bare using these means and see how enthused he is.

That being said, I'm almost always a well-groomed (but sometimes bitter) girl.

The answer is of course they are attractive, but not all.

Sometimes in porn I've seen one that looks like an ape or chimp's nose.. you guys know what i mean. those r hella nasty looking

I've never waxed, but I shave regularly - sure it was itchy the first one or two times, but now I'm rather used to it. As long as you don't constantly cycle from bare to hair I think the itchiness will subside. I don't know why but I prefer the feel of being shaved, when I first started I noticed it felt more cool (temp wise), though now it's been three years so I couldn't compare.

...As for waxing, I've seen some painful videos of bikini waxes - I'd never ask my SO to have one done (and thus justify myself not waxing).

Hyacinthe 08-22-2007 10:32 PM

If I don't wax my legs I doubt I will wax anything else. I have very sensitive skin and waxing leaves wonderful black and blue lines even trying a variety of different waxes and salons.

Sometimes I can see the appeal of the vagina, some of them do look rather nice but so often part of my mind just goes blech! I'm not quite sure what makes the difference between attractive and not for me though ...

But then again I have the same opinion when it comes to penises.

Infinite_Loser 08-22-2007 10:59 PM

I just realized that I never actually responded to the question asked...

Anywho... Do I find vaginas attractive? Well, no. Not really. I like them, sure, but I don't find them attractive, per se. If you've seen one, you've seen 'em all. Personally, I'm more interested in the person it's attached to (If that makes any sense).

Exactly!

"Back in the day" Playboy magazine pushed the limits of "smut" versus "art" straight into a corner and the only way they could display a COMPLETELY NAKED woman in their pages was if no pubic hair (or labia) was visible. Hence, the shaved pussy.

The "industrial imitation in life" you mention took over from there. I recently saw a TV documentary film about an increasing number of women who have their labia surgically removed. Every one of the women they interviewed said it was either (1)the centre-fold model portrayed in nudie magazines that motivated them - or (2)"to make it more attractive for their boyfriend/husband". The interesting thing is (but no surprise to me!) is that interviewing those boyfriends/husbands revealed that none of them had been consulted nor had they consented to the operation. 2 - 1 = 1.

xepherys 08-23-2007 05:23 AM

Having their labia removed? At the risk of offending any females here who have undertaken such a procedure I must ask a giant and heartfelt WHAT THE FUCK? (no, WTF doesn't do this one justice). I can already see someone trying to compare this to circumcision, but uhm... yeah... I just can't even imagine. I know labia are different shapes, sizes, colors, et cetera, but if I went down on a woman and she simply was missing them, I think I'd be pretty freaked out. Labia, both sets, are a largely visual part of the attractiveness of a vagina. Otherwise it'd just be a hole.

bendsley 08-23-2007 05:52 AM

As long as they don't look like an old catcher's mitt, I'm all in.

Oh, yeah, the vagina. It really depends. Just like the penis, there are many different types, some I find more attractive than others.

Besides those of us who love them, who better to comment on vaginas then their owners....

Tho I do believe that the vulvaectomy is imho beyond the pale.

Hm, I know everyone has a right to their preferences and all... but what exactly are you guys talking about? For some reason these posts are reminding me of the thread about labia being "ugly" and "misshapen" or "discolored," etc. Is it really necessary to make these kinds of comments? Is someone's vaginal appearance going to be a dealbreaker for some people?!

Dilbert1234567 08-23-2007 11:26 AM

I've never met a vagina i didn't like... (barring those in medical books of diseases)

each one i've seen and been with has been a pleasure, shape, size, texture, they are each unique and special in there own wonderful way.

to each vagina out there::hearts::love::hearts::love::hearts:

Firstly, if youare looking to Playboy to prove your point about "certain industries" influencing society you are most assuredly barking up the wrong tree. In fact for a "smut" publication they are sort of conservative in this way. As near as I can recall (and since this is in regards to a topic that I hold quite an interest in--vaginas) they didn't really place a fully shaved playmate in their pages until quite recently, opting for what they saw as "artistic" instead. Since I was intimately involved with shaved vaginas since the mid 90's, I would have to say that this is a case of art imitating society, rather than the other way around. Now you could certainly make the case for the porn film industry or other publications, such as Hustler or Penthouse influencing society more, but truthfully I think it is more of a reaction to the ridiculous merkin-esque pubic afros of the 70's and 80's. Check out this link if you wonder what I am referring to (link NSFW) http://www.tfproject.org/tfp/showthread.php?t=121469

As far as the labiaplasty that i believe that you are referring to, I generally look at it as a form of Body Dismorphic Disorder where the person believes that there is really something wrong with their body, when in fact there is not (see Michael Jackson's nose). I would say that it's not unlike some eating disorders in that way. Of course society influences this in a certain way, but so does the rise of the cosmetic surgery industry. For the record I am not at all in favor of labiaplasty unless it is a matter of comfort (some women request it to make riding horses, bikes easier or for wearing swimwear) [shrug] I'm only the messenger.

I'm really glad someone else knows what a merkin is- quite possibly the funniest personal adornment ever.

BTW, most men are very merkin-esque if they don't trim. I could make a comment about how we should all be natural, but I'm not a fan of the ZZ top beard, so I'll stfu about that.

Hair growth and removal is basically a fashion trend. I predict that in ten years, hair down there will be back in fashion. I mean, remember Burt Reynolds? (ok, I was too young to REALLY remember) Now MEN are getting waxed.

Sorry to derail this perfectly fine thread about vaginas into a hair/no hair sinkhole.

Most women place much of their self-image/esteem based upon how their physical attractiveness matches up with an ideal, whatever that ideal is for that generation. With good reason, we've been judged on these parameters since before farming happened probably, and it's not going away. Most women just want acceptance, they want to know that it's ok to be themselves. Isn't that what everyone wants?

I'm glad to hear vaginas of all stripes make most of you happy!

Aparently, yes.

Look here! The man who wrote this (at the link below) ought to be shot. Here you have high-pressure sales propaganda at its' worst.

Note his free useage of words such as ”the problem of ..... pain .... discomfort .... embarrassment, also ”over-sized” (says who?) ....”inelegance”(!) ....”worsened anatomical variation”(?).

And then he concludes ”reduction is necessary” ("NECESSARY"? oh, of course!) .... ”improvement” (by what standard?), ”enhance”, ”better define ” (compared to what, a Lamborghini Countach without the gull-wing doors?)!

Here you go: http://www.labiaplastysurgeon.com/labiaplasty.html

Some perople will stop at nothing in order to line their pockets with gold. Have they no consciences at all?

ejm_msp 08-24-2007 03:37 AM

Encouraging us to feel ashamed about our bodies is worth billions of dollars. It all comes down to our evil consumerist economy that wants to suck our wallets, bodies, minds, and spirits dry. Many of us willingly let it.
