real doll documentary....NSFW
|
MAY be?
|
the same way an atomic bomb might be hazardous to your health :)
|
I watchedmost of it. There is no sex. It follows a couple of owners around and they explain thier love of the silicone. There are factory shots and doll shots so rubber nipples are exposed.
|
It reminds me of a documentary I saw about the life size doll craze among Japanese men. The fundamental reason those men chose to live with dolls was that they were compliant and easy to get along with, unlike real women.
I actually can see some men choosing this option, they really don't want the hassle of a real relationship, and a "perfect" silicone woman with no mind of her own is actually preferable. I find it pathetic. |
Actually, most of these men express a difficulty in approaching and appealing to women. Therefore, although I find it a little sad, I don't begrudge them their dolls. If it makes them happy, then I don't see any harm. Albeit, they do seem to be somewhat hermitic, obsessive types...so are a lot of people about a lot of things.
But on another note, there is no way in hell I could live with one of those dolls sitting, let alone hanging!, in my house. *shivers* |
I'm not opening this video at work -but a few years ago there was an HBO Real Sex special on those dolls... Kind of an expensive sex toy..
|
Didn't open them at work either. Saw a documentary a couple of months ago about them, from construction to use.
If it was anything similar, it was definitly not SFW, so I didn't take a chance. |
No, you don't want to open this one at work.

As a social scientist, I find this phenomenon utterly fascinating... I think a lot of people (perhaps women too?) could benefit, psychologically and physically, from something like this. I would imagine it also keeps some people from committing crimes, since many of them would otherwise be marginalized people with a lot of sexual frustration... but who's to say, really. Very complex. As a woman, though, I admit that I find the idea of a man using these dolls pretty damn creepy. Doesn't mean it's wrong, just that I find it creepy. Would be a tough fetish to cater to, I'd imagine... |
They also make dolls for women, I saw the HBO Real Sex show a few years ago, like a dildo with a body attached, I suppose. They brought in some women who tried the guy doll out and they seemed to enjoy it, it was just heavy and difficult for the girls to move around, they're not lightweight. Whats the difference between a woman using a dildo or vibrator and I guy humping a doll???

I'd fuck one. Once.

this is so creepy. the first guy treats his real doll like a real person. and talks to it. and dresses it. wtf!
|
Ok, granted that we're not this far along, and that I haven't watched the documentary, but this leads us down a rather slippery slope.
How life like do these dolls have to be for it to be "ok" to develop an attachment to it? Let's say I created a doll like the ones in the video. The only catch is that it can move, can change expression and has a digitalized personality. Let's say that this doll is now life like in every possible way (including things i didn't mention) except for the actual possession of well... life. How is it different from developing an attachment to a human except for the knowledge that this is a bunch of circuits with a computer program telling it what to do? |

Do you mean like a Cylon or an Android? Because that's a completely different kettle of fish. THAT would be much more acceptable. |
A really expensive bridge between your hand and a real woman.
Like masturbation training wheels... or something. Watch... they'll f*ck the doll up by making it talk. The one thing guys who buy this can't understand. |

they look so creepy.
|
I'm sorry, but that is just weird.
That Davecat guy is the creepiest. |
there is something quite sexist about this.
im more freaked out by the fact that these guys want real woman to be like their real dolls...silent and there only for his pleasure. that is fucked up |

Your question about how life like do they need to be is an interesting one. There have been a few people that have looked into it and figured out that there is a line between where it looks just fake enough so you know it is fake to where it looks just as real as a normal person. When it looks fake, either it is obvious or it might just be a little creepy. When it is realistic enough, there is no difference between the two and people accept them. We are a long way away from that point though. It would be an interesting sociological question though. If something like a cylon or android existed that could walk, talk, and do everything else a real person could do, how many guys (and gals) would choose to go to the store and pick up their ideal match, instead of playing the dating game. |

It's not like competing with the porn stash (which I don't think is necessary anyway)... it's competing with a 3D, made-to-order, no-brained, non-talking "woman" with whom he's become emotionally attached and actually believes is some kind of "real" woman. That's some serious messed-up shit. I understand why the woman in the last scene broke up with the guy after his "birthday" party... 8 silicone women, all looking like Laura Croft and dressed like prostitutes, whom he fucks weekly (more often, I'm sure)? Unless he burned them all immediately, if I were her, I wouldn't stick around long, either. It seems like men who are in long-term "relationships" with the silicone things are bound to never get into a real relationship again. Once they've crossed that line, it's just too far off the charts for 99.9% of human beings (unless, of course, perhaps the woman herself had her own "Man Dolls" and that would be a match made in heaven!). Very sad and lonely, in that way, though certainly not wrong in any sense. Clearly it's better than them going out and assaulting women or raping children, etc. |
Not to get really geeky here, but remember that episode of Buffy when Warren made the robot girl who tended to his every whim and never argued?
He grew very bored and tried to get rid of her. |
What is so wrong with an attachment to an inanimate object? Would you rather these disturbed, lonely guys use hookers? Chat rooms? Cocaine?
Every vice in life is a coping mechanism. Technology just changes their face. Pfft. If I could... I'd build the woman of my dreams ala Frankenstein. What is so wrong with that? I made her. She's mine. ... What's the difference between a RealDoll and Paris / Lindsay / Britney, anyway? |
Quote:
And to answer your last question, if you ask me, there is NOTHING different between those dolls and Paris/Lindsay/etc. I don't think anyone on TFP would disagree with you, there. |
Um, one is a inanimate object, the others are real human beings. It's really not that hard to understand the difference.
|
I rather like the internal body heat of real girls. Makes sex more enjoyable.
|
Honestly, that was creeping me out.
|
I remember bobby posting a similar story, let me find it for relevance...

Wow. 45 minutes. I think DaveCat...it's probably best for him to go this route. If this kind of thing satifies him physically and emotionally, then yes, that's what he should do.
I was more disturbed by the bad makeup jobs by the Texas guy, lol. But at least to him they obviously were not much more than masterbation tools. It was funny to see them stuffed in the garage and under his bed--"I'm a master at hiding my dolls" Uhhh, not so much. I could easily tell his gf was so not OK with it, even as she was insisting that she was. She looked like she was going to burst into tears. Poor lady. |
Whoa... wait... somebody has one of these AND a girlfriend?
That I can't understand. |
I had forwarded the link to this documentary to my oldest daughter...we were talking about it one evening and she wanted to see it. (Yes, she is over 18 :)). Well, she recognized davecat.
http://www.kuroneko-chan.com/echoes/?page_id=2 ...seems to be a little more to this guy than meets the eye...weird, but at least he's not a moron. |

Those guys seemed like a sad bunch of people. I didn't watch the whole video, but it amazes me that the need to socialize is that strong that people who don't really have the skills to do so have to make up their own fantasy world in a way. While to me creepy either way I think this bothered me less when I thought it was my male compatriots just trying to jerk off.
|
if they leave it as a sex toy, fine. once they start treating it like a person, it turns into an -ism. its messed up.
Kinda reminds me of children that talk to their stuffed teddy bears. Its like they are reverting for that same sort of comfort. edit: I'm not surprised at all that the guy in the beginning calls it chii-chan and is probably an otaku. |
Yeah - I fucked her....
at the start of the video - I currently live with my parents. |
Hmmmmmmmmmmm.
Not sure how I feel about all that. I do agree with those who've said it's much better that men in this state have these dolls than potentially turning into rapists or deviants. But I dunno, I just couldn't imagine letting myself fall that far. While I can handle the concept of men needing them for sex, I just really struggle with the idea of men using these dolls for a relationship. They're happy, and it's not hurting anyone. That's fine. But there's just something about it that saddens to me. Humans are social creatures, we need human contact, we need human relationships. It makes me sad that these people couldn't find that contact in a world full of people so they turned to using dolls. The whole concept just seems so alien to me. I just couldn't imagine letting myself get that lonely. I still struggle with the concept of people who get their sexual / emotional / relationship fix on second life. Although having said that, at least on there something very real can transpire. I think one of the hardest things for me to take about this is the idea that these men have built up about woman. That they obviously harbor so much fear and resentment towards the opposite sex, and yet at a very deep biological level, understand they need contact with with women. It is their life, it is their choice. But I personally just really struggle with the concept. I understand it, I just can't really accept it. |
