Sex toys - Looking to buy one - first timer
Ok, so I am looking to buy a sex toy for my wife, and I would really like to know what a good one is, she is kind of shy as far as masturbation goes, but will do it for me. I also know her very well, and she will really enjoy one once she gets used to it, plus I think it could add some spice to the bedroom, so any suggestions?

If she's not into vibes, check out some pyrex toys. They aren't cheap, but my wife swears by them. We'd both heard good things and took a trip down to Fascinations. Like I said, pricey but worth it. There are a lot of styles to choose from, some with nubs and some with swirls and some that are just smooth. She got one that she likes quite a bit. There's also the Juicer, which when we have the money, she'll probably pick up too.

My suggestion is not to surprise her with her first sex toy. There really isn't one kind that is the "best," it's really all a matter of personal preference. For example, if she prefers clitoral stimulation, a bullet vibe might be best, or if she prefers penetration, a dildo would be best. Bring the idea up to her yourself and work with her to decide what she thinks she might like, and then try it out! There is a great adult toy store here in Chicago, and their website is very easy to navigate for shopping. It also explains a bit about the different kinds of toys, which will probably be good for you. If you work together to pick out a toy, she'll be happier with it, and it will also be a fun way to communicate with each other about what turns you on, which will help spice things up all on it's own!
That being said, just a few things to keep in mind. Jelly toys can only be washed with regular soap, and due to their porous nature, can't be completely sterilized. Also, any toy made with silicone can't be used with a silicone based lube, it will damage the toy. So, if either of those things could be an inconvenience for you, perhaps stay away from those toys the first time out. Good luck!

I bought my girlfriend a Hitachi Magic Wand for christmas last year and she absolutely loves it. It was rated in playboy as the year's best vibrator (a friend at work told me). Him and his girlfriend are swingers and brought one to their parties and there wasn't a single person there that disliked it.
Here's an amazon link for it: Hitachi Magic Wand |

LOL this is a bit off topic: I work in a drugstore chain. Somehow in the condoms area they sell a lone vibrator. I guess if they're not blunt about its purpose on the packaging, they can sell it in a non-21's only store. It's called a "personal pleasure apparatus" or something...
Anyway, someone stole one and left the box. It's a little plastic box that you can open and close to inspect the item. LOL imagine being caught trying to steal something like that! First of all, you can't afford a "pleasure apparatus" so you have to steal it, and second of all, you "need" (want) one so bad that you're willing to steal it... Haha I just had to share... |

As for the OP, I say let her help in choosing her first toy. Since it's her first I think she will be more comfortable if she gets something she likes rather than what you think she'll like. After that, you'll also have a better idea of what to surprise her with as her second toy!

I definitely agree with those who say let her pick out her own. Take her shopping for her first.

Never ever, EVER buy a woman a vibrator. It's admitting defeat!
Just kidding. Actually, take her shopping for one, so she can see what's available and ask questions from the staff if she has any. That way, she'll be happy with it, and you dont have to worry about it. |
