How far?

Hi, I'm young (18). I like this girl that is going to Europe in August. I've liked her for a couple of months and she liked me for who knows how long. Well, we met in college and have known each other for about 9-10 months. I was going to make a move on her, but chickened out last minute because of her plans. She's not coming back to the same college (as mentioned above).

How far should I travel to go see her when I doubt we will hook up, but still might be able to see each other one last time...and possibly kiss?

There so many details left out of your post that it's practically impossible to give you an answer that most would deem sensible and unbiased. Yes, you are young but knowledge is best acquired through experience - think it over a bit and just make a decision.

A lesson is best learned the hard way rather than not at all.

I say travel to see her and see what happens to you won't have to play the what if game afterwards. Like, what if I would have gone to see her? What if we would have hooked up? See what happens.

Let's see, 18 years old plus known for 9-10 months, minus liked for couple months, divided by hasn't made any move with her whatsoever, over the squareroot of doubt you'll hook up, with a unit conversion for chickened out...

189 kilometers.

Now if she is older than 19, add another 20 kilometers. But if she's younger than 18 the whole equation hits a limit due to divide by zero, so don't even bother.

Let's see, anything divided by zero is infinity.... does that mean that you are telling him he should travel any distance in order to meet with her if she's under 18?

I'd say go for it. At the worst you get to see a new place, at the best you might find yourself with a person that you can love and cherish, and that will love an cherish you in return. Either way you gain a valuable life experience.

I knew someone who flew to paris, france just to propose to a woman who he'd been going out with for a while, but had gone away to a few years of college there.

Of course, they were dating but not serious enough for her to cancel her France plans. This sounds like you haven't even dated.

Go see her, if you can- worst case scenario she says she's not interested and you take in the country for a few days before heading back home.

When has division by 0 ever equaled infinity? The only time it is defined as infinity is in the case of a formal calculation, where we ignore the fact that the answer is not well-defined. And even this is only in the case that we're talking about the limit of the divisor as it approaches 0 AND the numerator is 1. In all other cases it is undefined (1 or more possible values). IEEE assumes values in computing standards, but from a mathematical point of view division by zero can never be defined as only the value infinity.

Aside from that, I have nothing to contribute to this thread.

If one of my friends were going away and I probably wouldn't see them again for a long time, I'd drive at least a few hundred miles to see them, doubly so if I didn't severely underestimate the chance of boinking like you are.
