How dumb is this?
So i just got out of a relationship that dragged on was fairly boring at the end. There is this girl at college that i used to see around all the time and it was obvious we had some sort of connection. We have exchanged smiles and eye contact on more than a few occasions. I never acted on it because i had other things going on. The problem i have now is that i haven't seen her in a week or two. I'm just wondering what you guys think of me just asking her out on facebook out of the blue. Would like to hear from the women.
there isn't many downsides. Ill probably never see her again after this semester anyway and she doesn't really know my friends at all so its not like it will come back to haunt me later. |

why not strike up a conversation on facebook first? perhaps then your chances of her saying yes to an invitation to hang out might be more likely. Most of us will say no to an out of the blue invitation, runs the risk of being labeled as a blind date and those are always disastor....

send her pictures of your penis first. that's always a good rule.
but other than that, yeah - ease into it. get email addy. then maybe a phone number, etc. you'll get a feel of her interest that way.

Seriously, maybe I'm old fashioned, but I'd start the conversation first, then move on to electronic means. You haven't meantioned that you've talked to her, only that you've exchanged meaningful glances over discussions of Satre and the Third World. Are you sure she knows your name? Then again, I'm very much the face-to-face kind of guy. Maybe it's the saleman in me.

You could always "poke" her to start... or send her one of those stupid "gifts". The chicks love that... nothing says "I like you" better than spending $1 on a little icon. lol

Cock photos? How cliche... Bend over and show her yer brownstar, that's the way to woo a stranger in '07.
But seriously, the best pickupline ever is "Hi!" Hust go ahead and strike up a conversation, no harm, no fowl.

Get her number off facebook, and call her up, or wait till you bump into her again, then ask her directly. Most of my girl friends (space intentional) view the email/aim/facebook ask out sub par, and maybe an indicator of the [lack of] fortitude of the fellow asking. Not that all of them think that, but a bunch do. Of course, I spent virtually all of my life in small towns that still put emphasis on face to face communication, maybe other places aren't like that.

i so considered a crude joke about daughters and email addresses, but decided a mother's wrath wasn't worth the humor

The sticky thread about asking people out says exactly what I recommend doing. Just be honest, get to know her, ask her out.

My personal opinion on this matter, the matter at hand being the flirtations with women through the internet, is that I don't agree with doing so with women who one does not know in person first. That is, I find it disagreeable for men/women to randomly message/flirt with someone who is a complete stranger over facebook, as I think it is sleezy and unbefitting.
I think that it is ok to flirt through facebook if one has actually met the person in question.. I take this stance as someone very close to me has been hurt by someone in this manner. However, that is my opinion, and you may feel free to disagree. Last edited by match000; 04-09-2007 at 06:17 PM.. |

For clarity's sake, I'd just like to make the disclaimer that when I met my current paramour it was on a site where it was considered charming to send a picture of your cock along with the first communication. It wasn't a "dating" site. So my mention of it was kind of a joke.
And I must say, the picture was very charming (mmm-hmm), but it was the words that started to flow into my mailbox soon thereafter that got me hooked. Try writing to her. Something that expresses your personality and what you find attractive about her. Disclaimer #2: I have no idea what facebook is and how it works.

wow.. this thread has taken quite the.. ... .... interesting turn.
If you don't know where she's at then yeah I guess you could just send her a quick Hey.. message on Facebook. You're walking a fine line. If you search for her and find out where she's at IRL, then you'll still look like a stalker. Are there no other chicks around you?? |

I'd say atleast look her up on facebook. See what type of stuff she has in her profile. Girls don't say "Look at me, I'm single" because they DONT want attention. Then I'd send her a little something, going like "hey, haven't run into you around campus in awhile" or something like that. To me that shows you atleast remember her and have paid attention to her in the past. How she reacts to this is totally based on if she is attracted to you or not. You'll be a slimeball if she is not attracted, or really sweet for remembering her is she is attracted.

This thread is infinitely more interesting than last time I checked it.
I guess I always get more interested by something when it includes sending dirty pictures through the internet.
