Crush vs In love

How does one tell the differences between being in love with someone and having a crush over someone?

I can tell the differences but that's only if I actually gotten over the crush or am not in love anymore. So, I guess I'm really asking how I could tell whether I'm in love or have a crush over someone?

Thanks!

I think love can start out as a crush, but love takes time.

I guess it depends on one's definition of love, which honestly can change all the time.

a crush is only first blush impression. once you see the imperfections and still want to live with them... brings you to the otherside of the line, love.

Cunthetiq is right, a crush is what interests you, love is what makes you stay even when they hang the toilet paper the wrong way and eat cereal with a cooking spoon and squeeze the toothpaste from the middle of tube.

A crush is not caring about the imperfections because they have not had enough time to get on your nerves. Love is admiring the imperfections.

Wouldn't a crush also ignore the imperfection at first?

There's only really one hard empirical test in my experience.

Right after ejaculation when you're in your little reverie and they immediately turn to you and want to discuss Kant or Nietzsche or whatever, do you want to smack them in the face and kick them out of the house with no clothes or do you look at them with big eyes and listen intently, lovingly to their bullshit? I find you will forgive almost anything in the rush to fulfill the biological imperative, but afterwards - if you're still willing to have them around -

that's love.

Love, is realizing that you really would like spending the rest of your life with that person. That is a powerful moment and kind of scary too! When love hits you, you know it!

All these smilies and none that blush. I do apologize Cynthetiq. I do try to run my posts through spell check first as I type very quickly with very little actual accuracy, but that one slipped past me. : blush:

love is when someone else’s happiness is more important than your own.

sure, the crush ignores the imperfections, may even think of them as "endearing" or "cute" then there comes a time when it passes that stage and they are no longer, they are seen as annoying or deal breakers.

and no worries about the misspellings, your spell check wouldn't have gotten my name right either.

You should read the shit that I write more often. It'll make your eyes bleed. And I even have a BA in English.

I always thought when you were in love you felt that wonderful feeling for someone but still get pissed at them when they say something insensative, but then you'll always make up.
Make-up sex is some of the best by the way.
Just thought I'd throw that in there....
A crush is someone you don't know too well but you're infatuated with them and would like to get to know them, although it can go from good to bad. They can be a total troll or they could be Mr. Prince charming. It's a mystery behind them that makes them seem all shiny and wow.

I definitely disagree with those who feel that you just 'know' it when love hits. For me, it started out as a crush, and it's love now, but I can't put a finger on a moment or even a real stretch of time where it happened. Everyday I think you learn to love a little more, and your definition changes a little. We should always be growing, maturing.

Ahh, that crush period that lasts from 4-8 weeks. For those who'd like a technical understanding of this, the term for it is called limerance.

Here's it's wiki entry, with a list of "symptoms".

Hell, that's not the crush period, that's an entirely, entirely, entirely different thing. Limerence is much closer to obsession. I've had one limerence-nonlimerence 'relationship' (being that I was the limerent, I considered it as such while the other person didn't, so it's technically not correct) and it ain't pretty.

Thank god for mutual affection relationships. <3

Back when I was a young 'un, a friend who recently had married explained to me that you know you're in love if you can fart during sex and not be embarassed.

Honest. It might be as good a definition as any.
