Having the lights on hurts my eyes if I am on my back. In general I keep my eyes closed most of the time because I need to concentrate and bright light doesn't help. But I also like to see my shit-hot partner so having it completely dark is not good either!

It would help if you had soft energy-saver lights mounted on tall lampstands besides the bed instead of directly on the ceiling.

Or else light up plenty of candles.
