Douching After Oral Sex

My girlfriend has this habit of douching everytime after we've had sex. She enjoys oral sex very much and I am more than happy to give it to her everytime we make love. Now I understand that frequent douching is not advisable, as it fouls up the chemical balance in her vagina. But whenever I ask her about it and tell her that it is not a good practice, she would explain that the oral sex that I'm giving her might introduce some bacteria (through saliva), possibly causing upset or some kind of infection to her vagina. So, douching kind of makes her feel "hygienic" such that it has become a necessity.

Is she right about this? Should she be douching everytime after we have sex? We make love like about 2-3 times per week, so you can imagine the frequency of her douching. I know I sound a little pussy here but I'm kind of worried for her frequent douching. :|

For the female friends here... what are your hygiene practice after oral sex with your partner?

Thanks

I would think that this woman is being a bit too fastidious. Douching that much can cause more problems than saliva introduced during oral sex.

The vagina is pretty much self cleaning, not that a little soap and water doesn't keep it clean.

Yeah, there's going to be more problems from not peeing after sex than there will be from not washing up after oral sex.

Douching is *bad* for your vagina. It upsets the vaginal PH (even if you use just water) and that can lead to some nasty infections! Suggest to her that she talk to her OBGYN (she has gone to one, right?) about it, and get the facts straight from the horse's mouth.

PS- let me put it this way, I've never gotten an infection from oral sex, and I've had quite the share of people doing it to me too....

I agree - it's completely unnecessary, she is doing more harm than good. Maybe it's an OCD thing?

Hit the nail on the head - I was just tinking OCD, and you beat me to the punch...

Thanks for your input. Am glad to know that I'm not overly concerned.

I do not want to make myself look like a sissy by "advising" her on women stuffs. I mean... it is kind of strange that a guy tells a girl how to maintain her vagina, right?

I guess I will take Sage's advice that she should hear it from her gynae to believe this fact. I believe she doesn't find this a problem hence she has never brought it up to her doc.

Thanks
