Host

For those of you that are not familiar with the term "Registered User," it means that someone (in this case Host) has been temporarily banned from the Politics Forum. This often leads to a permanent ban from TFP.

I have taken the liberty of collecting some past member comments concerning Host. Should any of you wish to add a comment here, I will make certain that Host receives it.

First, thanks to Powerclown for the perfect image of Host "at work."

Quote:
Irateplatapus: poor host, the hits just keep on coming.

in his defense... he does seem to take a lot of time researching his posts. even though some of his sources seem pretty bizarre to me, i do respect that in a political discussion.
Quote:
Jorgelito: Elph, I second the respect: this thread is almost turning into an impromptu "roast for host" - if that ain't respect......
Quote:
Will: I'd put host against Bush (in a debate) any day (I'd search him for a weapon first, and have bulletproof glass and samoan guards).
Quote:
Pan: I APPRECIATE HOST'S POSTS. I may not read every item but this is a man who has a great love for his country and friends and works hard to speak out against the wrongs he sees.

I may not always agree with him, but I don't always agree with myself...... But to HOST, I say, I truly appreciate what he does and the effort and love of country he has.

I also have yet to see anyone dispute and debate him. Rather they attack him for his posts and not the articles and information he brings. How sad, this man does not get the true respect owed to him.
Quote:
Elph: ...I read all of Host's entries because I find them quite valuable. If you see no value in Host's detailed posts, don't read them. It is really that simple.

Please don't lobby against something that you can so easily ignore.
Quote:
Will: This is kinda funny, but don't forget that Host is one of the best sources of links and information on TFP (in the world?). When he shut down Ustwo, I cheered on the inside. Host might be teased every once in a while, but his posts are in a league of their own when it comes to relevant information, not just volume.

Host, I wish you health and happiness in the new year,

Respectfully,

Pen

Rekna, you don't get a temp ban with a single post. I really do not want this topic to go in this direction, OK?

I suspect that if I did even a fraction of the research that Host is able to do, I'd be a much more informed person. Like I said before, Host's posts aren't just about volume, they are about relevant information that usually brings the discussion into a new light. I've often been shocked by the amount of truely relevant informationt that he is able to allocate and post, for our benifit. I've not always agreed with Host, but I've always respected him.

Will, I haven't always agreed with Host either. One of the things that amazes me is how far ahead of the main stream press his topics are. When I look at the whole of his contribution here, I see that he predicted the next problem/scandal well before our press. Sadly, ridicule was often his reward.

I couldn't begin to research topics at the level of competence that Host has demonstrated. That's why I love Powerclown's image.

The reason I asked which offending post caused his temp ban is because i was wondering if there was a justification with this. Honestly according to the rules of the forum we should not be discussing this in an open forum and instead if people have a problem with it they should be messaging a moderator directly.

With that been said i'll just say that, while I tend to skim most of host's posts as there is to much information there to read it all in the time, I have found his posts useful and he always backs up what he says. I haven't seen anything from host in the past that would justify a ban but that doesn't mean that something new has not happend. And i'm sure the moderator had a good reason for it or else another mod will come in and remove the ban. I suggest people tred carefully in this thread though as it is likely to upset the mods further.

I suspect this thread will be deleted soon, but I'd suppose that Tecoyah's thoughts sum up why he was temp banned, but like I said, not I'm a moderator or anything, I'm just assuming based on what was posted:

Tecoyah's post

This thread will get locked if y'all continue to second guess the temp ban. This is not the intention of this topic.

Please, once again, this topic isn't about the temp ban. I received an email this morning from Host indicating that he is likely not to return to tfp. This is entirely his choice, folks, and I believe he means it. And as much as I respect Host, he stubbornly brought this upon himself. Are we clear on that?

Hence this topic. No hidden agenda, no whine, no anything other than one last opportunity to send a note to Host, if you wish to.

Sheesh, no good deed goes unpunished.

I wish Host very well. I think he may have needed a break though, we all do sometimes. I have seen on some forums and in chatrooms where someone gets frustrated and just needs a break.

I have a feeling the ridicule and maybe he felt people were ignoring his posts and the frustration grew.

I'm sure Host will be back soon and posting his posts. Deep down he is a very good man, Hell, surfacely he is.

My only suggestion to Host is that there are other threads and sometimes you need to walk away from Politics and go into Humor or Nonsense or GD or Entertainment or..... so on and just kick back and have some fun.

I know my journal, the Lit. thread and others have helped me. Plus, it's a better way to make friends and have people realize you aren't so 1 dimensional in here.

Just a suggestion Host, please take no offense. There are some truly great people here.... Amonkie, Mal, God of Thunder, Sweetpea, Jumpin, Sheesus, DJTestudo, Bobby, World's King, Giant Hamburger, NG, Poppin, Kutulu, Dylan, TSpikes and so on Including the Mods, Hal, and Art (Whom I hope is recovering well).

Hell, even most of the people in here whom I agree/disagree with poltically but outside on other threads they are great people, like Rekna, Stevo, and so on..... then of course Elph and Will (2 people whom I love to pieces.... not that I'm gay or trying to hit on a happily married woman.... not that there's anything wrong with that). People who would do anything for a friend and make good friends. Some I talk to, some I admire from afar, because I don't know how to break the ice very well.

It's what keeps me here, the people. My hope is Host takes advantage of the other topics and threads when he comes back....... I for one believe he has a lot to teach and share with others more than just politics.......

Anyway, I ramble..... Happy New Year to all.

Okay, I'm not going to delete the thread, but it is closed. You can PM Elphaba with your notes to him.

All that I'll say on this topic is, I don't really care about either side politically, I just don't want anyone pissing on the rug.
