The ACLU finally went over the edge (source is satire, not real)
I'm renouncing my ACLU membership as of now........this is just ludicrous.
Somebody PLEASE tell me this is parody. ACLU Wants School Bus to Stop Driving by so Many Churches MARSHALL, TX – The ACLU has learned a school bus that transports children to and from Marshall Elementary School passes 8 local churches per trip. “That’s too many,” said ACLU spokesperson Pete Peters. “Those churches expose children to crosses and catchy little religious phrases, things that kids should not be exposed to while being driven by governmental busses.” The Republican led city council says that it would be a logistical nightmare for the bus to avoid the institutions of religion. “The bus would have to start its route an hour early and the kids wouldn’t get home until an hour later,” says City Councilman, Jeff Todd. But Mr. Peters insists he’s worked out the details. “I planned it out on Yahoo! Maps this morning,” he said. “When the bus is on Main Street, instead of turning left on 3rd Avenue, it should take a right on Austin Street, a left on Magnolia Street, a left on Pine Lane, drive through the Wendy’s parking lot, drive across Crazy Jeb Bellows ranch, make a U-turn over the center divider on Perkins Street and BAM, you’ve got a bus route that gets everyone to school and doesn’t compromise anyone’s civil liberties.” |
Wow. This was almost beleivable for a second. Then I clicked on the link. As extreme as the ACLU can be, this would be way outside the bounds.. even for them.
Made me laugh, though:) Yes, its parody. Just look at the top story on the front page: http://www.underneathpolitics.com/is...eorgebush.html |
I tried to find some more about this on the web, but was unable.
If true, it is way over the top. But I've also learned (the hard way) to double check stories posted on internet BBS's :D (edit) Ah, I checked the link to the homepage...funny stuff :) |
That has got to be made up! I have only heard of the ACLU espousing reasonable viewpoints {sarcasm}. But seriously, doesn't the ACLU usually defend the rights of people to be exposed to more things not less?

I guess manger scenes at Christmas time would fall under "less".

Manger scenes at Christmas time on public property falls under "less."
It is a parody. Please people, you don't actually think the ACLU would ever do something like that? Geez... |
The sad part is that it SOUNDS so believable. Why would be believe something so ludicrous? Beacuse that is the direction that we've gone with political correctness.
Tragic, sad, but sometimes so damn funny! Peace, Pierre |
*shakes head*
People, people, people. I will concede that things have gotten...a little ridiculous. But, not to this degree. Of course it's a parody. Even if you got so far as the last sentence without catching on, just read the instructions laid out for the alternate route. Sad thing is...you just know that this is going to be spread around, all over the internet, as fact, within..oh..3 days. |

Reminds me of "ACLU Defends Nazi's Right to Burn ACLU Headquarters" from the Onion, hilarious.
