Celebs touting Vote or Die: Did they Die?
Quote:
shame. |
I HATED that whole Vote or Die thing. So stupid.
And yeah, shut up Celebs if you aren't going to go through with it. |
I like Alice Cooper's take on this whole celeb influence thing:

Sometimes I wonder if it's worth all the time and effort to get the apathetic to vote. If they are that apathetic do we really want to hear their opinion? |
Not sure their goal in doing this even worked...according to what I've heard on younger voter turnout. And I agree, it is a shame they didn't vote...what was the point?
|
Celebs?
Only 1 didn't vote (of those who could) from the posted article. Paris was probably gettting stuffed and/or doped at the time, anyway. I couldn't care less what she has to do or say about politics. |
I wish they had died.
|
hilariously expected. thanks for the article.
|
Instead of dying, they can just get out. It will only take about a year to get into Canada. http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle.j...toryID=6704292

I forget where I heard this information, and dont really feel like looking for it right now. But apparently only 30% of the whole vote or die campaign thing actually voted. thought that was kind of funny... and also sad. I'm sure if someone looks they can find something.

I seriously.....can't stand celebrities getting involved in politics. Save for the occassional intelligent involvement.
|
as if its a suprise how they voted ( and where)
cali didnt need any more liberals - wouldnt have mattered |

Yeah...I could just imagine 50cent fitting right in living in Winnipeg. BTW, we don't want 'em. Thanks anyway :icare: |
Loved the Cooper commercials, and he's so right on. Just like in everything, pick and choose who you take advice from. Celebrities are definately not one to be listened to.

The sad thing is how right they were.
With such a disgusting turnout for 18-29 year olds (did I read 17%?), the election was in their hands and they failed to rise to the occasion. Quite sad. Edited later - I stand corrected, and misunderstood earlier today. I have since discovered that the actual turnout for 18-29 year olds was a very respectable 51% (the highest ever), and up to 64% in some of the swing states. Good job, young'uns  And even later: I get so many conflicting reports on the youth vote, I don't know what to believe any more. It's water under the bridge, anyway. It's gonna be a long time till 2008. |

Secret did a pretty good breakdown of that point in a different thread: Quote:

Somehow this doesn't even shock me in the least.
It is sad the low turnout of young voters though. Maybe there aren't as many of them watching MTV as they thought, and that can't be a bad thing. We just need to figure out where they are and get them in the polls. ;) |
I always read "Vote KERRY or Die" on those shirts.
Nickelodeon's "Nag the Vote" probably had better results. -Mikey |

This thread was both interesting and funny. Just shows you celebs do what is hip for the times or whatever will boost their record sales. Word to your mother.

that's really funny. I'm a little divided on the celebrity participation. On one hand, I think it's a good thing that they're trying to do their part to campaign for democracy. But on the other hand, I want to call out some bullshit flags... Half those celebs posing in those Vote or Die shirts probably aren't informed or don't care about the issues. They just need some hot, "popular" artist who has a good body and slab that on a print ad because sex sells. Politics has definitely come to the point where candidates are a packaged image being voted on as if they were two products to choose from, and not just PEOPLE with different views on issues. The packaged celebrity ads mirror this. Celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio who just talk openly about the issues and their opinions is a good thing for our country, IMO. People like Oprah who do an entire show on empowering women to vote, etc. Those are the celebs I would admire. |
Can someone please interpret the law for me in such a way that I am now legally permitted to kill each and every one of those celebs who did not vote?
