Maybe its because I'm being partisan, but it seems that Kerry is using Bush's own policies and decisions to make him look foolish.

Minimum wage, assault weapons ban, National Guard, budget issues, etc.

Kerry's points on the AWB were quite good, I thought.

I missed the beginning, but so far Kerry seems to be coming out way better.

Bush seems defensive, and keeps grinning at in appropriate times.

Maybe it's just me.

Bush gave a good answer on religion. I'm surprised, but he did well with that reply.

Did they call each other before the debate?

"Hey, what tie are you gonna wear?"

"My red dotted one."

"Really?? Me, too!! Ohmigod, I can't believe we're gonna wear the same tie!"

"I know. It's like, gonna be sooooo kewl!"

What a spontaneous response. He's only said that verbatim at every single debate.

I'm positive there are better people in both parties. Why these two are the best we have from which to choose is a mystery.

In all seriousness, I believe that we deserve better than either of these two.

It may be just an act, which I seriously doubt, and I maybe very naive, which is extremely possible, but after watching these 3 debates 1 thing truly is apparent to me Bush and Kerry seem to like each other. They disagree but I truly get a sense they respect and like each other.

Most politicians do get along and are friends. Sadly, they perform for the electorate in order to gain votes, which causes us to froth at the mouth and act like <i>we</i> do to each other at times.

There are, but the only places you even have a chance about hearing about them are C-Span and PBS.

As for Bush and Kerry liking each other, I am happy to say I get that feeling as well. I really hope that's the case, because that really speaks to me when someone has the dignity to look beyond political differences, even in such a heightened arena.

CNN just aired the clip from 2002 where Bush said about Osama bin Laden, "...I'm not that concerned about him."

During the debate, after Kerry claimed he said that, Bush said that Kerry must have been exaggerating since he never said that.

It may sound corny and all but it is nice to see. It's a far better feeling than Gore/Bush debates....

The big thing I disagree with the FCC and the elections board is that they guarantee equal time to to the big 2 parties but not any other. I feel that they should require equal time to ALL major parties. If there is a candidate on 26 states ballots then he should be given the chance to be heard and not just on C-SPAN and PBS.

Yep, Bush lost the debate right there, on the first question.

After that, it only got worse. His only good point was when he talked about his wife.
He's lucky he didn't get asked about stem cell research, but I guess if he did he'd just say that the way to solve the problem was through better education. Seriously, he gave that answer to 3 unrelated questions.
The media is calling it a draw, just like last time, but I think the polls will soon show that the American people liked John Kerry better.

Watched NBC tear that apart also. They showed a tape of Bush in March '02 saying he wasn't concerned about OBL and did so with his arrogance.

BUT in all fairness W could have forgotten that.

My fav line: "Being lectured by the president on fiscal responsibility is a little bit like Tony Soprano talking to me about law and order in this country."

A good debate, better than I expected. Good questions, good followup. I expressed some hesitation to some friends about Scheiffer after I learned that Bush appointed his brother Ambassador, but he proved himself to be the professional his reputation gives him.

My observations:

Kerry continued to spew his "plans" but did elaborate a bit on how he intended to pay for them....and actually made some sense this time around.

Bush managed to quote the same three stats his feeble little mind managed to remember way too many times....this made him seem even more hopeless to me.

Kerry showed definate restraint in this debate, and attacked with the same stats his somewhat more capable mind has not only commited to memory, but likely has burned into his retina.

Bush really pushed the "down home cowpoke" bit beyond reason, and actually managed to make an even bigger fool of himself with his attempts to WOW the crowd with humor......pathetic comes to mind.

Kerry tried to appeal to every human in America (except the rich), and most of our pets as well, borderline pandering but possibly effective.

Bush was full blown pandering to his christian base, which turned me off so much I will need a jump in the morning.

All in all, Bush did better here than in the other debates.....which is not a compliment.

Kerry has definately won the debates in this election cycle....regardless of how you try to spin it. It is likely to have very little effect on the election though, as voting irregularities will call the entire thing into question unless (insert all powerful entity here) decides to intervene on our behaf.

Again....just my take.
