Is there anything that can be said in tonight's debate that will sway your vote?

It seems to me that everyone is pretty firmly entrenched in their decision right now, and the debates (especially tonight's) isn't really going to sway anyone one way or the other.

pan6467 10-13-2004 06:24 AM

NO. The more that comes out the more I am scared of another 4 years of Bush. I think if elected he won't last 4 years. BUT I truly believe things would get 10x's worse with Cheney as President.

As bad as it sounds, perhaps Bush runs with Cheney because that's his insurance against being taken down. NOONE in their right mind wants Cheney as President.

And just to clarify: While I maybe strongly opposed to Bush I truly like Kerry and Edwards I think will make a wonderful leader.

inharmony 10-13-2004 06:31 AM

I will probably watch, but I've made my decision.

Superbelt 10-13-2004 07:02 AM

Kerry: "Within the first hour of the Kerry Presidency, I will commence nuclear bombardment of China, Great Britain, Norway and the Falkland Islands."

I'll switch my vote to Badnarik then.

thefictionweliv 10-13-2004 07:02 AM

If Bush and Kerry were to allow Badnarik in the debate and somehow show they have a better plan for America I'll put on a parka cause its a cold day in hell :o

MSD 10-13-2004 07:46 AM

Where's my option for "No, I'm strongly opposed to both sides and am not in any way represented in this debate"?

Jesus Pimp 10-13-2004 08:41 AM

I'm already voting for Kerry. I hope tonight's debate will touch on some more issues and maybe some more comedy from Bush.

Rdr4evr 10-13-2004 09:49 AM

I've made up my mind that I'm NOT voting for Dubya. He scares me shitless and at this point nothing could make me not vote Kerry. The debates are going to be for strict entertainment tonight.....hopefully Bush will make an ass out of himself again.

Superbelt 10-13-2004 09:55 AM

Same here, the only reason I will really be watching the debates at this point is to see if Bush can dig himself into a bigger hole. I have high expectations for him to do that in what is supposed to be the weakest areas for him.

TheKak 10-13-2004 11:36 AM

Need to add option for those who don't like either one!

Maybe "No, my candidate isn't represented", or something to that effect.

kutulu 10-13-2004 11:48 AM

I guess if Kerry said he ate babies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner I'd change my vote. Or would I? A baby eater might still be better than Dumbo.

Lebell 10-13-2004 12:08 PM

You're looking for the middle-of-the-road-haven't-mind-up-my-mind in the Tilted Politics Forum?

Good Luck :D

Locke7 10-13-2004 12:12 PM

Obviously they could say things that would be policy changes that could change my mind. But it's not like Bush is going to say he's changed his mind, now he is pro-life (or something like that). There is a lot better chance Kerry may change tunes on any of the issues. But what it really comes down to is that I'm not voting for the better debater. I'm voting on the issues. And their respective websites show you exactly where they stand.

I'm hoping for 4 more years.

Well said. I want a president with strong beliefs. Not some dipshit who sways with the political winds. My mind was made up on 9/11/01.

9 out of 10 terrorists support John Kerry.

philanderer 10-13-2004 12:44 PM

The presidential debates are a complete waste of time. Both candidates have failed in the first two debates to address the issues. Instead every question comes back to the same Kerry is a flip-flopper discussion. I watched the third party and vice presidential debates. Those actucally addressed some issues in this country. At least people saw because of John Edwards, not john kerry, that Bush favors outsourcing jobs, a damn critical issue in todays economy

Averett 10-13-2004 12:48 PM

If John Kerry dropped dead, that would be the only way I wouldn't vote for him.

Then I STILL wouldn't vote for Bush.

bbbbbb555 10-13-2004 01:02 PM

Ill watch, but i already know that i am going to vote for Bush

FoolThemAll 10-13-2004 01:16 PM

It's possible, though unlikely at this point, that I won't vote for Bush.

I won't be voting for Kerry. Or for Nader.

ShaniFaye 10-13-2004 01:26 PM

Nothing Kerry could say would make me vote for him...ever

Bush always has my vote

My thoughts exactly...not too many undecideds are very politically involved. Amongst the politically active (and participation here qualifies us to at least some degree), I think the only reasonably sized groups of people with a decision to make are those deciding between major candidate or third-party, and those who aren't sure whether to bother or not.

Tralls 10-13-2004 02:00 PM

I do think the debates can help some undecideds make up their minds. I know quite a few people down here in Tejas, where it is basically a sin to utter kerry, who have families extremely Republican, but they have a little more common sense to think for themselves, and the fact that Bush came across as an arrogant, ignorant and unstable individual has swayed their vote...they wont tell their parents though! Shoot look at the polls since the first debate.

You're a mod - add it ;)

In this case, I did it instead :)

mattevil 10-13-2004 02:18 PM

I essentially already voted(mail in ballott) so definetly no.

Actually, from what impression I have of your politics, you'd be better off switching to Cobb I think. Unless I just don't realize that you're fiscally conservative. Anyway, if you're interested in at least knowing about 3rd parties and their candidates, I'd look into Cobb. He's a good candidate, while I may not always agree with everything he says, and deserves a greater following than he has.

Yeah. I was going to post it in the general discussion area to get a broader (less polarized) sample, but figured it would just get moved here anyway, so I saved you mods some trouble.

The only way bush will lose imho
is if they find him in bed with a live boy or a dead woman

President Bush is a mans man. I wouldn't be suprised if Kerry swung that way though... going to bed with Teresia everynight could do that to a weak man. :hmm: I mean we know hes metro already... :p

What a bunch of shit. You need to stop getting your information about the issues from bumper stickers and do some real research into why Bush is conducting the war in the wrong way by going after the wrong people!

filtherton 10-14-2004 02:10 PM

None of the debates changed the fact that i'm voting for foreigner for the "best band of the late seventies to mid-eighties that i wouldn't pay to listen to".
